Last weekend saw several results with unexpected score lines. Wyong proving too strong for The Entrance, Toukley giving Kincumber a football lesson. Woy Woy getting the better of Erina and Ourimbah upsetting last year’s premiers Terrigal. Local results seem to be mirroring the NRL.Round 6, this weekend should once again prove most interesting.Last weekend our Representative sides travelled to Macksville where our Ladies League Tag side prevailed against North Coast by 18 points to 6 but our Under 23’s went down 24 points to 22 in a see sawing match, with little luck running our way. Best of Luck to all Clubs this weekend.

The Sharks played host to the Ourimbah Magpies last Sunday and with still plenty of players sitting in the grandstand managed to come away with three wins and a last minute loss in the main game. The Opens were well beaten by St Edwards but with so many players out in the top two grades it was a credit to Steve Graham and his coaching staff to get a full side on the paddock.

The T-W Sharks ladies League Tag team came up against a much improved Mag-pies team. Despite the Ourimbah team trying hard all game the Terrigal girls came away with a eleven try to nil win. It was a welcome back from injury to Elysia Atkins who scored four tries, Player of the match, Matead Barber scored two tries and made line breaks seemingly at will. Others to post tries were Rach Dobbie, Shan-non Higgins, Kate Fullbrook, Rach Curnow and Britt Starr who also kicked eight conversions and picked up the two points. Bronte Lambert-Minto continued her excellent start to the season sharing the one point with Captain Rach Curnow. Play-ers Player was Kate who took the ball forward well all game and defended stoutly.

The Sharks Nineteens had another improved performance on the weekend against a side that never stopped trying. Although letting in two late tries in the 34 - 18 victory, the boys were finally rewarded for their hard work at training after two dis-appointing losses. Best for the Sharks and Players Player was diminutive fullback Jesse Kamper who is now being referred to a the new Matt Bowen for his outstand-ing kick returns. the two points went to Logan Humphries who crossed for two tries including two great length of the field efforts while the one point was shared by the ‘Bash Brothers’ Brad Jay and Jack Stringer who were very physical all game.

The Terrigal-Wamberal Opens side came up against a determined St Edwards side that dominated the Sharks from the opening kick off. The Sharks had their worst game of the year completing only one set of six in the first half and giving away penalty after penalty. The second half wasn’t much better and discipline was lacking with more dropped ball, penalties and a player in the Bin for ten minutes reducing the Sharks to twelve men. The Bears really should have won by 100 given the poor display by The Sharks, that said the side will rally and we are looking for a much improved display this week against Toukley Hawks. The commitment and effort is certainly there with great numbers at both training and games days and we are sure the boys will bounce back strong. The three points and Players Player went to Dan-iel Gooch who ran strongly and got through plenty of defence, the two points went to a returning Ethan Fortis while the one point went to a hard running Buddy King. The Sharks Reserve grade side defeated the Magpies 34 - 18 after leading 22 - 6 at the halftime break. The Sharks played their best half of the year as they dominated the Magpies on the back of a high completion rate running in four tries. The second half the errors returned making forward progress difficult and with an injury toll that left the Sharks with no one on the bench it was a relieved Coach after the game to get the two points. Best for the Sharks was half Chris Browne who crossed for two tries and kicked six conversions and led the Sharks around the paddock, the two points went to Mathias Sua who had a high workload on his return to the game. The one point and Players Player went to Harry King who crossed for a try, made plenty of line breaks and was safe in defence. Ryan Donnelly crossed for a well deserved double, with Bryce Holland rounding out the scoring. Welcome to Grady Kamper on his return to the Sharks colours and he was joined by younger brother Jesse in his grade debut. The Sharks First grade suffered yet another loss being beaten 18 - 14 after leading 6 - 0 at the halftime break. It was the Sharks third loss in a row as our injury crisis deepened with the the withdrawal of two players pregame and losing Justin Sopp and Ryan Folkard in the first fifteen minutes. Coach Forbes and the team refuse to use that as an excuse and had the opportunity to close out the game late in the second half but some poor decision making cost the boys the two points. Best for the Sharks was again the consistent Aaiden Wright who nullified the Magpies at-tack and ran strongly, the two points were shared between Josh Harman and Sam Paul who also received the Players Player award while the one point was shared between Nick Paul and Lachlan Bell.We wish to thank the following sponsors and hope you give them your support:Major Sponsors : TERRIGAL HOTEL, Dynamic Taxation and Training Services,

Toukley Hawks Getting into the swing of things now and the boys in 1st grade are really showing some good signs that they can compete with the best sides in this year’s Central Coast Comp. Coming up against a solid Kincumber side we didn’t know what to expect. Everyone had to do their job and show effort throughout the whole game, with a surprise coming into half time 28 to nil the boys had worked re-ally hard in defence to keep Kincumber to nil, coming away with the win. Some balls errors and penalties in the second half brought the full time score to 34 to nil. A Toukley crowd had not seen a score like that in years if not ever. It was a great effort from all players. Some stand outs from Matt Veacock, Kene Te Whata, Connor O’Beirne, Trent Walker and Luke Gearside made the game enjoyable to play. The points went to Kallin Ad-ams with 1 point, 2 points went to veteran Scott Fitzpatrick, the 3 points went to the inform Jakob Giles that only got 15min in the beaten under 23’s rep side, the Central Coast selectors must not not be seeing what we see. A very poor first half with discipline and ball control saw us behind 20 to nil at half time. A better effort in the second half but we’re beaten 26 to nil Best for hawks was josh McDonald and players player was mason Craig backing up from the u/19’sThe Poppi Concreting U/19’s went into the game fresh after a week off but poor execution resulted in a defeat at the hands of Kincumber. Silly mistakes, lack of discipline and an overall unenthusiastic approach is not what we are trying to instil in this team. We have players putting in each week but others are just along for the ride. We have a great group of guys and have plenty of numbers so I’m sure this can be turned around. Another home game this week against Terrigal will hopefully produce a better outcome. Best for t Hawks was Taj Kennedy who also received the Players Player Award. Brodie Fuller, Kiran Page & Jye Tudehope also played well. Thanks again to our sponsors; Poppi Concreting, Redmen Fire Protection & Bruce The Plumber for your ongoing supportGreat result this week for the ladies leaguetag side grabbing their first win of the season against Kincumber. Super effort shown by all especially in defence. Let’s keep working hard and hopefully we can grab a couple more! Everyone played well but the points this week went to Darby, G and Lara.Once again we like to make a special mention to some of our sponsors whom we are all appreciative of ... Roosters News Woy Woy RLFC Round 5 Report / Round 6 Program: Here we are EDSAAC oval Round 6 of the Central Coast Division Rugby League competition with the Roosters taking on The Entrance Tigers. Thanks again to all supporters for travelling up to Bateau Bay for the footy here’s hoping the improvement we’ve shown over the last couple of games in all grades continues today and we get the cash.Although we only had one win last weekend against Erina we played some good footy and had a good turn out back at the club.Congratulations to Toby Marks and Campbell Sheppard and Bradman Best (from the juniors) for staying on with the Knights U20’s. It’s great to have three (3) who are Roosters through and through getting a shot at the next level we all wish them the best of luck. Results from last Sunday games. The B&J Asphalting Ladies League Tag team had a strong game against the much fancied Erina girls. Iin previous seasons the result on the score-board would have been a much different one. Although we went down 20-0 the girls continued to toil all day. Players Player was Darcie Sarson with points going 3 to Rhiannon Hall, 2 to Jasmine Wolfe and 1 to Jenna Evans. The Phil’s Car Repairs Under 19’s had a loss 48-22 but showed in parts that they can give the comp a shake, it’s a matter of all turning up at training and on the day and playing the footy that all know that they are capable of. Scorers were Darbee, Pat, Jed and Miggy with Richo kick-ing 3 goals. Players Player went to Darbee Williams, 3 Points to Tamani McInnes-Cama, 2 Points to Saxon Wollenhaupt with another good game and Mitch Wilson 1 point. Our Woy Woy Leagues Open Age in a top of the table clash and miss-ing 4 players (who pulled out on the morning) went down narrowly for their first loss in a really good hard game 20-12. For us Mearsy and Jed Sylvester backing up scored and skipper Tim plotted 2 goals. Best for us on the day were Players Player Cameron Phillips who had a beauty also taking the 3 points with Brenny Edwards 2 Points and 1 Point to Adam Wysocki having his best game this year. The S&M Contracting 2nd Grade team I thought were unlucky going down 24-10 Brett Sonter got another try and Brenny Edwards got one too, Ernie McGillicuddy kicked one goal. Thanks to the boys that backed up from the 19’s Tamani who had 3 games, Maxy Bovis and Wadey. Players Player went to Brett Sonter who thoroughly deserved it and got the 3 Points too, 2 Points went to Ernie McGillicuddy who continues to impress and 1 Point Mitchy Davidson. Mack’s Versatile Homes 1st grade Roosters team got the win they want-ed and were too good for Erina. Still with the best to be shown the boys started to gel. It really was a win paved by the forwards with the front row leading the way with Lynchy, Jake Shearer and Reidy all having solid games. The McLean brothers TJ and Kyle and Jimmy Fawcett were all good in the backs. Chris Hyde lead the team well and his experience and class is starting to come to the fore. Jimmy, TJ, Blake Mattei and Jake Alipate all crossed for one and Hydey kicked 4. The awards went to Jake Shearer as Players Player and the points 3 Points Tom Reid, 2 Points Jake Shearer and Rhys Ryan who bashed them all day in attack and defence got 1 Point. The clubs thoughts and prayers are with Zane Rickit and his partner and family on the loss of their baby girl last week. I’d like to wish all the mum’s a Happy Mothers Day today and thanks for all the love and support you’ve given and all that you do and have done for all your football kids young and old. Up the Roosters !

Tigers News The Central Coast Cleaning Contractors First Grade Tigers: NO REPORT Reserve Grade Report: The GTL Rapid Clean Reserve Grade Tigers faced off with competition leaders Wyong. Both sides controlled the game for periods throughout the match with the defence, not only bruising, but very hard to crack for both teams. The Tigers and the Roo’s had opportunities to win the match, with only some desperate goal line defence keeping the scores level in the end. A very entertaining game of Rugby League between two strong teams. We look forward to being back at home and taking on Woy Woy today.Open Age Report:The MJM Kitchens & Stone Open Age Tigers came up against an enthu-siastic Wyong side, which saw them get out to a 20-4 lead. We finally got in our rhythm in the second half and we hit the lead with 10 minutes to go. Wyong finished with a lucky try to seal the game 32-30. Our best were Zac, Mitch (Supercoach Green), Brodie & Peffo.Under 19’s Report:The Coca Cola Amatil Under 19 Tigers strong start to the Season came to a shuddering halt against a strong Wyong outfit. On the back of a 6 nil penalty count in the opening 30 minutes, Wyong raced away to a 24 nil lead at half time and the young Tigers were somewhat shell shocked. With a more even share of possession, the Tigers scrambled their way through the second half only allowing Wyong a converted try in the ses-sion. Despite being reduced to 15 men due to a head knock to Matt Hedges, the boys really put in a top effort but our opponents ran out vic-tors 30 nil. Best players for the battling Tigers were Kai Doyle, Chris Ball, players’ player Wilson Hayes and the tireless Kyle McCudden.League Tag Report:The Pallisters Ladies League Tag Tigers produced a hard fought 12-0 win over the Wyong Roos. Wyong showed that they are a young team with plenty of skill that will only get better as the season continues and come the second half of the year they will be more than competitive. A nil all second half showed just how close the contest was for more the 50% of the match. To the Tigers credit they responded when the attack wasn’t going as planned, with some very solid defence as Wyong applied the pressure. Our defence has been one of the highlights to the impressive start to the year and we will be looking to continue that against Woy Woy this weekend. The best for the Tigers was Holly Buchanan, Jocelyn Kel-leher & Teah Goodhand

centrAL coASt UnDer 23’SrePreSentAtive neWSThe Central Coast team travelled to Macksville over the weekend to play North Coast as part of the u/23s Country Championships. We didn’t get the result we hoped for, however, there were plenty of positives to come out of the experience.Central Coast jumped to an early 6-0 nil off the back of early dominance particularly through the middle of the field. Lack of attention to detail cost the team the chance to take advantage of our early momentum and we invited North Coast into the contest. Central Coast had the opportunity to skip to a solid lead only to have a crisp TJ McLean pass that lead to a try under the posts called back proving costly. The remainder of the first half saw both teams have periods of ascendancy in a tight contest. Another controversial disallowed try to the Central Coast on the cusp of halftime saw North Coast go to the break with an 8 point lead.Central Coast came out firing in the second half and got an early try to close the margin to 2. The second half the Central Coast team was play-ing the stronger football and gained a 4 point lead but we were never able to put the gritty North Coast team away. Errors at critical times and some questionable plays resulted in the game slipping from our grasp and Cen-tral Coast went down 24-22.To the boys credit they never stopped competing and even to the final bell they went close to snatching what would have been a character building victory. The team was valiantly led by a courageous perform-ance from their skipper, Ben Stevens, along with dominant displays from forwards Ben Thomas and Jacob McCudden. TJ McLean provided direc-tion through the middle of the field and was always dangerous. The ex-perience will prove to be a terrific learning curve for young guns such as Lachie Bell, Tyson Potger and Kallum Goolagong highlighting the exciting future for the Central Coast team.

Bears News With a full bench and a good week of training we arrived at Duffys Rd prepared for a tough battle. The boys played nearly a perfect first half with great completion rates and went into half time winning 20 to nil. The second half was a different story and we were less than impressive in attack. Final Score 32 to nil.3 Points and Players Player went to Dale who is relishing his new role in the middle. 2 Points went to Fenno who was impressive in the back row and 1 Point to Dave Thom who continues his great form. The Coaches Award went to Sam Gibbs who came back from injury and provided great service from dummy half. Thanks to the Ourimbah boys who are fitting in well with the team.We take on Northern Lakes this week who always proves to be a tough battle for the boys. We welcome our Under 8s team who will be having a game at half time and also getting to warm up with the big bears. We would like to wish all our Mums a very Happy Mothers Day on Sun-day.

Storm News What a great game of footy! A ding dong Doyalson duel that saw the lead change five times during an absorbing second half. It ended up 26-22 in our favour; giving us our opening win of the season in what is hoped to be the first of many more to come. Livewire fullback Billy James had a day to remember, notching a hat-trick of tries including the match winner, when he ran off Brendan Eather to score between the sticks with ten minutes left on the clock. Travis Man-tell, Mitch Redding and Craig Starr were strong in the middle, while the blistering speed of Jesse Murray was again in evidence when he raced 70 metres in an arcing run to cross out wide during a spectacular pas-sage of play. The victory was ultimately built upon a tremendous all-team effort and we now head into this weekend’s bye with the top five in clear view. (- The Eye -).

Although the Knights had experienced a decline in fortunes in recent seasons after winning the premiership in 2015, matches between Wyong and Newcastle were invariably close and coloured by an undercurrent of mutual ill-feeling. The match at Morry Breen Field was a battle between last and all but last on the ladder. Scor-ing was pretty much tit-for-tat throughout. Brodie Jones crossed first for the visitors in the 4th minute. The home team replied through Josh Curran in the 14th. Brent Naden then scored for the blue and red in the 15th minute, fol-lowed by the Roos’ Paul Momirovski in the 23rd. Thomas Cronan touched down in the 31st minute for Newcastle, and with one conversion to Daniel Levi, the Knights went to the break leading 14-12. Wyong were better equipped than the opposition in terms of experience, but 9 rounds into the competition had yet to gel. The timing was off, the lines incorrect and the energy misdirected. Following the restart, Patrick Mata’utia scored for Newcastle, stinging the Roos into action. Matt Ikuvalu crossed for the Roos, nar-rowing the gap to 20-16. Jack Johns kicked a penalty goal for Newcastle in the 71st minute to further frustrate Wyong and extend the visitors’ lead to 22-16. Wyong’s Sitili Tu-pouniua cut through wide on the right and crashed over. Josh Mantellato’s conversion levelled the scores in the 75th minute. Sean O’Sullivan looked to have snatched a surpris-ing win for the Roos when he slotted a field goal in the 77th minute. However, the hope of two competition points com-ing to Kanwal was soon dashed when Jack Johns kicked a field goal of his own in the 79th minute to grab the draw. Not a match for the purists, but an entertaining contest between teams not travelling too well for different reasons. The Roos are on the road for two weeks (Wentworthville at Leichhardt on 12 May & Newtown at Henson on 19 May), then face Canterbury at Central Coast Stadium on 26 May.

LADieS LeAgUe tAg neWSCongratulations to the LLT representative side on the win last weekend and good luck this weekend. Last week saw some close games which is great to see the com-petition getting strong. Wyong made The Entrance work hard for the win last week only conceding two tries to win 12-0. Kristen Kessler was once again a standout for the Tigers. The Hawks secured their first win of the season beating Kincumber 18-4 while Northern Lakes were too strong for Berkeley Vale winning 14-4. Erina held Woy Woy to a zero scoreline with Emily Campbell and Vanes-sa Hunter playing strong all game. Terrigal were flawless in a 60-0 win over Ourimbah and Elysia Atkins played a terrific game.

Last weekend our Under 23’s and Ladies League Tag sides ventured to Macksville to take on North Coast in the 1st round of the 2018 Country Championships. Our Ladies League Tag Team were expecting a tough game first up against a very talented North Coast side which made the Grand Final of the 2017 Country Championships and they certainly weren’t disappointed. The Central Coast went to an early 6 nil lead following a good try by Stacey Markham (Erina) and a superb side line conversion by Holly Buchanan (The Entrance). North Coast struck back just after halftime and locked the scores at 6 all. The Coast were next to score thanks to a try from Stephanie Stockwell (Terrigal) which was duly converted. North Coast applied plenty of pressure and appeared likely to score on 2 or 3 occasions only to be denied by some great last ditch defence from Holly Buchanan. With the result still in the balance late in the second half Sian George (The Entrance) took an intercept and ran away to score under the post to make the score 18 to 6. It was a great result for the girls, who travelled to Maitland yesterday to take on the Newcastle side. A report on the game will appear in next week’s edition.

Roos News ROOS NEWS Wyong were back at home for the much anticipated Round 5 clash with The Entrance. There was some outstanding football played by both clubs on a beautiful Autumn day. The Roos grabbed victories in Under 19’s, Open Age and 1st Grade. The Tigers were too strong in Ladies League Tag, and in what turned out to be the match of the day, the heavy hitters in Reserve Grade played out a 12 all draw. Ladies League Tag – Sponsored by Dovmac Mining & ConstructionThe Entrance 12 – Wyong 0The Entrance have featured in every Ladies League Tag GF since the inception of the competition, and the results prior to this match confirmed the Tigresses are again the premiership favourites. Matters seemed on course for another big win to the visitors when Angela Jones crossed from close range in the 4th minute of the match. However, the game then devolved into a bit of an arm wrestle, dominated by defence and punctu-ated by errors from both sides. Right on the half time siren The Entrance scored its second try. Wyong had plenty of opportunity to kill off the last play of the half, but the lack of urgency in the home team’s defence gave Steph Sharpe the chance to grubber into the ingoal and get downward pressure on the ball to claim the try. Holly Buchanan converted both three pointers to give the visitors a 12-0 lead going into the break. The second period was all about defence. The Roos lacked penetration and the Tigers lacked the quality to finish some promising movements. Caitlin Smith received both Players’ Player and Coach’s Awards.Under 19’s – Sponsored by Fill & Carry Fruit Market at Kanwal Village.Wyong 30 – The Entrance 0The young Roos did not show sufficient respect for possession in this match, and were perhaps a little fortunate the opposition lacked the firepower to take advantage. Zac Ryan crossed first for Wyong in the seventh minute, finding himself on the end of a short interchange of passes at the Tigers 10m line, and punching his way through the visitors right edge. Jessie Baillo scored in the 12th minute stepping off his left foot and straightening after Kendyll Fahey swept into the left side attack. Tomi Kaati touched down for the Roos third, running a nice line off Kye Leaudais in the 21st minute. Lachy Natapu isolated a defender and bulldozed over for Wyong’s fourth. Kendyll Fahey converted all four tries to give the home team a 24-0 going into the break. Wyong lost concentration in the second period, but in fairness the Tigers put down the challenge, which somewhat rattled the green and gold. Sam Grose scored from acting half late in the game. Kendyll Fahey’s conversion provided the final scoreline. Ryan Dowman was Players’ Player. Kye Leaudais received the No Coward Award.Open Age – Sponsored by Citrus Clean Central CoastWyong 32 – The Entrance 30The Roos led 20-12 at halftime, crossing for three tries to the visitors’ two. Ben Morsillo brilliantly stopped a try early on when the Tigers seemed certain to score. Next possession set, Kane Ralph shredded the defence, and on the back of that run, Matt Pouhila powered through the retreating defensive line for Wyong’s first. Morsillo wrestled his way over from acting half in the 14th minute and with two conversions and a pen-alty goal to Pan Kaaka, the home team were ahead 14-0. The Entrance responded in the 27th minute via a well worked set piece which grabbed the Roos attention and allowed Josh Pethybridge to sneak over from dummy half. The conversion from Luke Atherton narrowed the scoreline to 14-6. The home team gained some breathing space when Chevy Chandler Van Vliet hammered into the ingoal and touched down in the 29th minute. Pethybridge capitalised on a Wyong error in the 33rd minute to score his second from acting half. Respective conversions to Ryan Paes and Atherton provided the scoreline at the break. Ralph worked some magic attacking the Tigers right edge soon after the break, providing space and time for Keanu Millar on his inside, but a scoring opportunity was lost when the ball went to ground. The Roos were looking tired and Brendan Koford took his chance, crossing for a relatively simple try. Atherton’s conversion reduced the deficit to two. A Chris Brown try and Kaaka conversion pushed the home team out to a 26-18 lead, but two converted tries to Zac Westwood gave the visitors a 30-26 lead with little time left on the clock. Brown scored his second on the siren. Michael Smith nailed the conversion to give the Roos an unconvincing 32-30 victory. Players’ Player went to Gary Field and Chris Brown received this week’s No Coward Award. Reserve Grade – Sponsored by Optus LakehavenWyong 12 – The Entrance 12The Entrance Reserve Grade have a formidable recent record of GF appearances and are the reigning premiers. Wyong were in excellent form approaching this match and had not been extended in the opening four rounds. The game promised much in prospect, and the end result could not have been closer. Tiger Tom Moloney opened the scoring in the 12th minute after the home team put too much pressure on itself through multiple errors. Perry Le Brocque converted. Aaron Heaven produced a show & go to split the visi-tors defensive line in the 15th minute, then drew the fullback to put Kairo Anderson away. Jesse Stephen converted to level the scores. The Entrance back rower, Harley Ridge, crossed right on halftime, and with Le Brocque’s conversion the Tigers took a 12-6 lead into the break. The second period was equally tight. Wyong received a penalty in the 50th minute. Joe Marshall weaved his way through the retreating defence. The home team then hammered the Tigers line until Taniela Tangulu muscled his way over just right of the posts. Stephen converted to again level the scores. Both teams had opportunities to post further points, but a confluence of errors and lacklustre finishing deprived the crowd of additional scoreboard action. The Roos need to closely examine their game management over the dying minutes. The toughness and willingness of the visitors to take the fight to Wyong shocked the green and gold. Harley Ridge, even though returning from injury, is too good for this grade. “Tight game; had to come from behind. Missed a few opportunities, but we knew it was going to be tough. Still a good effort, apart from a few mistakes.”Les HannahLuke Dolbel was Players’ Player, and Aaron Heaven received the No Coward Award.1st Grade – Sponsored by Evolution SecurityWyong 36 – The Entrance 6The Tigers had produced an impressive run of wins in the first four weeks of the competition. The Roos were coming off a very strong victory over the premiers. The match shaped as a good indicator of the current level of performance of both squads. The visitors were taken into touch from the kick off. Wyong went right then left. Izzy Cooper-Tetevano stepped to the outside of his marker and powered over inside 2 mins. Kye Martin finished a well-engineered set piece involving Marco Tetevano to score in the 10th minute. Martin was a little lucky to score again only minutes later after the visitors failed to secure a late tackle kick. Left wing Mitch Nakhoul touched down after Cooper-Tetevano again beat his marker on the outside to create space and time down the paint. Three conversions from Lachlan Hanneghan gave the green and gold a 20-0 lead at the break. There was more of the same in the second period. Chris Centrone scored a remarkable solo try, getting to the outside of his opposition courtesy of a well-timed pass from Bradie Smith, then accelerat-ing through the ensuing hole. Hanneghan swooped on a loose ball then cut a swathe through the visitors’ defence. Wyong moved the ball right with Centrone putting Martin over for his third via regulation catch and pass. Tetevano scored from close range working over some tired ruck defence. Hanneghan converted two of the Roos second half tries. The Entrance crossed for a late consolation try courtesy of Grant Nelson. Wyong had enough bodies around the ball but could not stop the determined fullback. Notwithstanding the final scoreline, Wyong still needed to play well to get the better of a talented opposition. The Entrance made too many forced and unforced errors to compete with the level of play produced by the home team but are certain to be better next time around at Bateau Bay. Wyatt Shaw was voted Players’ Player. The No Coward Award went to Kye Martin. Chris Centrone made his last appearance for the Club in this match and is off to Toulouse Olympique. Chris has been a big contributor over the last four seasons and will be missed. The Club wishes Chris and his family all the best.

Eagles News Welcome everyone to Erina Oval for our first home game. After match presentation will be held at Erina Leagues Club commencing 5.30pm. Golden Eagles Reunion is on 17 June vs Ourimbah at Erina Oval.Today Danny Lawrence plays his 100th first grade game for Erina Eagles. Danny started playing for Erina in under 6s and has been a great club person and standout player his whole career. He made his Jim Beam Cup debut at the age of 17 and his first grade debut at the age of 16. Danny’s versatility in positions is a great attribute to his team. Danny has represented the Central Coast and Australian Police and is also Captain of Erina First Grade. Congratulations Danny. First grade – more injuries and players out of position wasn’t going to help us. Hopefully we can put on a better performance up against the undefeated Wyong side this week.Reserve grade – a tough fought win against a committed Woy Woy team. With a lot of boys playing out of position everyone had to chip in to come away with a 24-10 victory. A few special mentions, Reggie with his best performance for the club, Ryan Owens and Lachy Mace moving to the centres from the back row, Joel Frazer for at the last minute putting the notepad down and strapping on the boots and to Toby Elliott, a famous Erina surname, making his debut against men and had some very classy touches. Players player Reggie.Open grade – the top of the table clash in Open Grade didn’t disappoint, with a tough willing game from beginning to end. After squeezing into his size 38 shorts Matt Downey showed he is nearly back to top form, with a Best on Ground perform-ance! It won’t be long before he is moving up a Grade or 2. Other notable perform-ances were Blair Batton putting his jersey on, and taking it off, as well as Luke Goodley and Sean Frazer continuing their recent good form. Looking forward to the big test against a Strong Roo’s outfit this week.Under 19s – this week saw us take on a much bigger side so we needed to get off to a good start, which we did by scoring two quick tries after 5 minutes. Midway through the first half the possessions started to even out and Woy Woy worked their way back into the game by scoring two tries. Right at half time Boothy scored an intercept try which saw us go into the sheds leading 30 – 12. Second half we continued to score points and defended our line with guts to often turn Woy Woy away. In the end they scored two tries with the weight of possession. We eventually ran out winners 48 to 22. All in all, it was convincing win by the boys however we will have to elevate again for next week’s top of the table clash. Try scorers Kane, Cookie, Crawley, Spider, Blake, Boothy with a double, Toby and Harry. Crawley 100% strike rate kicking 8 goals. Points: 3 to Toby who was creative around the dummy half making inroads and setting up tries; 2 points to Bailey who had his best game for his new club with some strong running and solid defence and who was the leader against a much bigger pack; and 1 point to Mr Consistent Jesse Hood who once again turned in a genuine 70 minute effort also received players player for his performance. Ladies league tag – another close and entertaining game from our girls and a com-mitted Woy Woy team. We lead 10-0 at the break due to the hard work the girls put in to getting good position and some great kicking from Em Campbell. The second half was similar and it was by far our best team effort of the year with everybody playing well and contributing to the 20-0 win. Best for Woy Woy were Tahlia Best, Ellie Hipwell and Jasmine Wolfe while for Erina Vanessa Hunter, Em Haines and Ash Russell were great in a good team effort. Warriors News We look forward to our trip to Sohier Park this Saturday to take on the Magpies. Special mention must go to our major sponsor the Doylo. Don’t forget our after match presentation each week in the Smokehouse. We look forward to this Saturday’s game between the Warriors and Ourimbah. We’d like to welcome Dean Amos back to the Warriors for the 2018 season and beyond. Dean’s experience and knowledge will be invaluable to the Warriors and their future plans to be up in the top grade next season. We are also very lucky to have the Ogre Mark O’Meley on the Warrior’s coaching staff too. Mark has worked tirelessly to mentor players, coaches and adminis-trators at our club and other clubs on the coast to keep rugby league alive and moving forward.

Ladies Report: The girls are on a roll at the moment and this is due to their ap-plication off the field as well as on the field. The girls controlled the game well and grinded out a win against a very determined Berkeley Vale team. The girls will need to maintain their consist-ency to continue their success. The club are very proud of the Warriorettes as they are turning up for each other every week and are also keen to help out with game day jobs on game days to make it work for the club. Keep up the unreal spirit girls.3rd Grade ReportThe boys were in the grind for the whole game and showed glimpses of good football. The boys continue to get into games, get a lead and then lack discipline and composure to put teams away. Full credit to to Gosford who didn’t give in and finally came away with the points. .2nd Grade ReportThe Warriors reserve grade finally got a win against the Pan-thers. This win had been brewing for a number of weeks. After a lot of hard work on the training and playing fields the boys dug deep for each other and outlasted a very determined Berkeley Vale team to the tune of 16 points to 12. The boys scored 4 tries to 2 but still had to fight to the end to get the well deserved result they needed. Patience and ball security are beginning to become important to the boys and this is proving to be the difference in their performances. Continued attitude and effort will see more results go the boys way

Magpies News BJ Howes Metaland Lisarow & Charmhaven First Grade Team Report – The Ourimbah Magpies 1st grade side went to Duffy’s Road understanding the Premiers would be looking to hit back after a big loss the week before. A dour first half saw the Maggies starved of the ball , through non complete sets and a heap of penal-ties . Losing Jye Newton and Chris Morgan for the game early on , meant we were going to have to dig deep for each other . The Sharks too advantage of there controlled possession and on the halftime bell scored under the posts leading 6-0 @ the break .We spoke about the need possession, & after halftime Corey Bayley strolled over after a great ball from Ali Beale. The sharks re grouped and once again came back like good sides do. With 5 minutes left an offside call gifted Terrigal a two point lead , but the Maggies knew what was at stake leading into the bye. A massive Beale bomb forced an error , and James Croot ran short side to help put Alex Pohla over to seal the win 18-14.Great crowd involvement for both sides helped with a great spectacle for Cen-tral Coast Rugby League . Big games from Darcy , Alex Pohla , Ali Beale , Max Jolley and Groomy, but best on ground against his old club was Henry Vaatoua .We welcome Northlakes to Sohier on Saturday night , in what should be 3 quality games .Duncan Excavations Reserve Grade Team Report - The Ourimbah Magpies 2nd grade side although a better effort this week, Reserve Grade allowed Ter-rigal to take a considerable lead due to lack of disciple and ball control. The strong second half effort was very pleasing whilst we were down on troops. Best for our team were Wes Black, Brent Radburn and Aiden Everson whilst Josh Cook received the players player award.Anytime Fitness Wyoming Ladies League Tag Team Report - The Ourimbah Magpies Ladies team came up against a very quality team in Terrigal. We played well in patches but need to complete more sets to be more competi-tive. We used up to much energy defending all the time. Club ReportGreat to see the footy is back in Ourimbah, our club would like to extend a big welcome to all our loyal supporters, sponsors & everyone who enjoys rugby league to the beautiful Sohier Park where we play host to the Northern Lakes Warriors in our round 6 clash for 2018 and we as a club are looking forward to this challenge in both grades, we as a club here at Ourimbah would like to ex-tend a very warm thank you to all the mums involved with the club and rugby league in general and wish you all a very happy mother’s day.Everyone is welcome to attend our after match presentations to be held at the Tall Timbers Hotel from 5pm with refreshments and excellent meals available, so please bring your families and all kids are more than welcome to attend. Colts News Today we welcome the Berkeley Vale club to Mackillop oval for the Round 6 clash. Our 1st grade will be looking to get back on course after a disappointing effort against well drilled Toukley. Our highlight was Matt Croker playing his 100th 1st grade game for the Colts, only the 6th player to do so. Reserves put together a nice 1st half to record a good victory. 19’s are improving with each outing and put together some nice sets and defended well under some pressure from Toukley. Ladies tag are like the 1st grade looking to get back on course after a loss they probably didn’t bank on but full credit to the opposition who played well.Premier Trade Centre 1st GradeLast round our Premier Trade Centre Colts had a shocker, taking nothing away for the near perfect from the Hawks who under the direction of Chris Adams made us look like an open grade team playing its first trial of the year. Nonetheless the great thing about footy is a week is a long time and dinted pride burns deep. There were efforts from Ben Tonks, Troy Woodley, Matt Croker & Hendo who tried tirelessly with Matt taking the squads Players Players. Shout out to Jaxon Stubbs, Jesse Byrne and Ben Peters who made their 1st grade debut. With last minute pull outs to 3 of our starting backs these blokes played a game already and although not the perfect preparation for your 1st grade debut, made a real good fist of it. Quick shout out to great mates and sup-porters of the Colts in Reece Kincumber, Erina & Gosford and of course Brett Ryan of RGH Consulting.Today, we hope all our mums young and old have a beautiful day as we appreciate you coming to the footy on what is really your day. We welcome our Colts mums, especially those with young ones to join us under the tent and also those loyal ladies who turn up every week and support us no matter what, I look forward to seeing you there as well. We will have treats for you along with the chance to win a beautiful ladies hamper to take away with you.Today we meet Berkeley Vale who are languishing at the bottom of the ladder and will be a dangerous opponent. With pone of our sponsors Cape Three Electrical attending today we hope they can add a spark to our attack. With injuries ravaging our ¾ line since round one, today will be a day of reckoning for our 1st grade squad. We wish skipper Murph, Obi and Wade speedy recoveries and welcome back BK, Tyson & Duchy to this weeks squad.Sydney Markets Reserve GradeThe boys played well against a determined Toukley side & recorded a gutsy 26-0 win. Defensively we were great holding them for multiple sets in the 2nd half. Dane Vawdon (3) points was best on ground, he kept bending them back with strong defence & ran solid all game.(2) points went to Jason Clark’s Cousin Mitch, kicking game was solid, directed the team around the park & was strong overall. (1) point went to El Rozario (the fat one) defence was the best I have ever seen from him & pushed himself all game. The Donkin boys we welcomed back to the club & that has increased our depth right across the park, solid games by both & look forward to watching their progress. We host Berkeley Vale this week & they are always tough & will be looking to get their season going.Sidelines Sports & Grill 19’sThe Colts Sidelines Sports Grill Under 19’s took on a determined & tough Toukley side at the graveyard (Darren Kennedy Oval) last Sunday. The mighty Colts came away with a solid victory 28-6. Although we came away with the victory our handling, especially in the second half, really hampered our flow in attack. The defence was solid & the young men showed plenty of ticker & determination with their defence. Our inspirational hooker Fletcher Berry got our 3 points & players player with 2 tries & rock solid D. 2 points went to Jesse Byrne who also made his first grade debut later in the day. 1 Point went to Alex Halls for a good all-around game. We wish big Keano a speedy recovery after his stint in hospital from a sickening high shot. Good luck this week at home against Berkeley ValeGray & Wheatley Plumbing Ladies League Tag It just wasn’t our day against Toukley. Everything we seemed to do just didn’t work for us.Our defence was strong but Toukley Took the winWe had a few girls that stood out in our game, especially Ella’s break through Toukleys line for a try under the post . Millee and Ranni both tagged well, and the rest of the girls kept trying to get back the control of the game , but we just didn’t get there. We will keep our heads up and bounce back this week.Players player- Ranni Jackson3pts- Ranni Jackson 2pts- Tayla Mackay, Leah Arnesen1pt- Brooke Watson, Ella Buteux, Jess Mensforth and Cassie Moyes

1st Grade - Proudly sponsored by Toowoon Bay Carpets & Shutters No Report due to Bye against Northern Lakes2nd Grade – Proudly sponsored by Berkeley Vale Cellars.Unlucky at the end 16-12 loss and knocked on under the posts in the last minute. Until we start better and realise it’s contact sport and start tackling with shoulders instead of grabbing at jer-seys not much will change. Luckily the second half was better and when we hang onto the ball we look good and can compete with anyone. Players player and 3 points well deserved Waylan,2 points to Kali great to see you get involved early and 1 point to big Kyle great effort for the big fella. Thanks’ to the 19s that keep helping us out but we’re starting to get players back from injury, so we need everyone at training all sessions to ensure we don’t keep making the same silly errors. I would like better numbers at the Presentation on Sundays as well it’s all part of it boys play together stay together.Ladies League TagWe drove north to take on the Warriors and we fell a little short in attack, our defence in general has been fairly good considering the girls limited experience, now we need to work on our attack and put more pressure on the opposition. Chloe was the obvious choice for players player with an outstanding game, Caitlin and Breah also received points. Drew scored our only try with Sharni just missing the conversion. Again, Tara and Ash played great out wide. Still playing short but no excuses the Warriors played better, and we need to improve. 14 to 4 is no thumping so keep working hard and enjoy playing. Thanks to the girls that attended presentation.
