INTERSCHOOL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP This week Mount Waverley hosted an interschool chess competition that saw students from a range of government and private schools compete. I am pleased to report that the team from Mount Waverley finished 4th out of the eight competing schools. I congratulate each student who represented Mount Waverley on their commitment and behaviour throughout the competition. Special congratulations to Kris K, Chris F and Max W who were the three highest ranked competitors for our school. A great job by all who participated.
EASTER RAFFLE RESULT Congratulations to the Aslanis family who were the winners of this year’s Easter raffle. They won a 5 night holiday to Sea World Resort & Water Park on the Gold Coast. I am sure the family will enjoy the prize and I thank all community members who supported the raffle. Our second prize winner was the Brain family who won an iPod Shuffle. Thank you also to the organisers of the raffle for the great effort on behalf of our school.
TWILIGHT SPORTS NIGHT A great night was had by all at Wednesday evening’s Twilight Sports. What a great family event it was with plenty of fun for young and old. I thank all who participated for supporting the event. Thank you also to teachers for supporting this event with their time and effort. A very special thank you to David Judges and his band of merry helpers who cooked the sausages for hungry families. A great deal of effort went into this aspect of the evening with the cancellation of last week’s date and the rescheduling that was required.
EASTER CHURCH SERVICE Wednesday saw many of our students attend the Easter Church Service. I congratulate our students on their behaviour at the event and thank the organisers who make the day such a success.
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT As a part of the school’s ongoing maintenance and improvement, the following actions have recently taken place. A quote has been accepted to asphalt a strip in front of the portable classroom on the oval. This will provide all weather access to both classrooms, creating a cleaner environment for students and teachers. A quote has also been accepted to install roller binds into the same portable to better control light and heat. A quote has been accepted to paint the exterior of the portable classroom on the oval to match it to the surrounding buildings and improve the appearance of this facility.
HAPPY EASTER! A Happy Easter to all who celebrate this event and my best wishes for a safe and enjoyable holiday break to all students, parents and staff. I look forward to a fantastic Term 2 upon our return to school.
