Low cost and no cost measures
• An office environment is often a dynamic and personal space where people spend a great deal of their time
– There are many solutions which will be benefit people, save costs and help the environment
– Using more daylight where possible, keeping office temperatures steady increases wellbeing
– Many solutions are common sense and a matter of increased awareness. Education is always a cost effective solution.

Natural lighting and artificial lighting
• Avoiding having the curtains drawn when there is plenty of free sunlight outside
– Use blinds to re-direct the light
• Think about your light usage habits
– Would you leave all the lights on at home?
• Light and motion sensors
– Ask your manager to install lighting sensors in the office, this will reduce costs in the long term
– Motions sensors can activate lighting when you are present and are easily installed by a qualified electrician

Heating, ventilation and air condition
• Office temperature is a “hot potato” – why?
– Error rate is greatly increased with up to 25% at lower temperatures (below 18 degrees)
– One fifth of office workers say that heating dilemmas cause confrontation in the office
– WHO research has found that when the temperature is above 26 degrees, the productivity falls over 20%
