Church Family!For months your church staff and elders have been prayerfully engaged in the preparation of a budget for 2019 that we believe wisely pursues the principles and practices set before TCBC by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We now joyfully and confidently present this proposal to you for your prayerful consideration. We invite you to familiarize yourself with this budget, pray through it, reach out with questions, and affirm it in due time.

A budget is simply a tool - a guide, that allows us to be faithful as a church body to engage in and to fulfill the ministry objectives we believe our Lord has given to us. Therefore, as the family of God we all share in it together. Each member is an invested part with one another stewarding our resources together to make Christ known and grow in Him.

For this reason we are asking three things of you:1. Familiarize yourself with this budget and feel free to direct any questions you have to our elders at elders@tcbchurch.org. The 2019 Budget Proposal is organized categorically according to our Practices. If you would like go through a line-by-line accounting please contact elders@tcbchurch.org.2. Pray over your faithful participation in supporting this budget as one who identifies TCBC as your church home.3. Join us on Sunday, December 9, as we collectively and joyfully affirm this budget for 2019.

gather to worshipWe exist for God’s glory and were created to worship Him. Here are a few ways our budget serves one another in pursuit of Christ-centered worship:

• In Song: Every week in Sunday services, NextGen services, and special events, TCBC’s Worship Team leads the church to sing gospel proclaiming songs of praise that make much of our Lord and Savior, Jesus.

• In Proclamation: In 2018 TCBC worshiped through Psalms, 1 John, and a systematic study of Jesus’ church. In 2019 TCBC’s Teaching Team will lead through Romans and a special summer series designed to equip families.

• In Testimony: TCBC’s communications make Jesus known through social media, e-letters, the TCBC app, and other platforms, reaching out to thousands each week.

• In Baptism: In 2018 TCBC was blessed to celebrate the most professions of faith through baptisms since 2014.

CONNECT IN COMMUNITYGod has set apart his children for community. We are better together. Here are a few ways our budget serves one another in pursuit of Christ-centered community:

• In Membership: In 2018 TCBC’s membership grew at an unprecedented rate exceeding TCBC’s previous best year (2017) by 20%. Over 200 people have affirmed TCBC’s membership promises and committed to call TCBC their local church in the past 2 years.

• In Life Groups: Life Group participation is up 15% with nearly 500 people connected to a Life Group.

• In Study Groups: TCBC introduced new Study Group tracks including Behind the Message on Wednesday nights and 3 new Family Discipleship Plan groups on Sunday morning.

• In Reading Together: TCBC’s Bible reading plans are used by hundreds to guide them into God’s Word.

• In Conversation: The Give2Go Café doesn’t simply serve coffee and facilitate conversation, it raises funds and awareness for global outreach.

EQUIP OUR FAMILIESGod established the family and has charged us to make Him known through it from generation to generation. Here are a few ways our budget equips our families in pursuit of Christ-centered discipleship:

• In Family Discipleship: In 2018 TCBC expanded the FDP into middle school and is planning to expand into high school in 2019.

• In Kids Ministry: TCBC’s Kids Ministry continues to grow year over year. In addition to Sunday groups that introduce the week’s Big Truth and Bible Verse, kids learn about Jesus and His call on their life at AIM on Wednesdays and special events throughout the year such as Rally Nights, VBS, and Kids Camp. Half-Time serves over 100 preschoolers and their families, 81% of which is an outreach beyond TCBC families.

• In Student Ministry: TCBC’s Student Ministry is growing and going. In addition to Sunday groups that introduce the week’s Big Truth and Bible Verse, students learn about Jesus and His call on their life at Launch on Wednesdays and special events such as: Rally Nights, Impact, Great Escape, and strategic national and international mission trips throughout the year. Impact continues to be one of the largest student ministry events in east Tennessee.

• In College Ministry: TCBC’s College Ministry is a specific area of focus in 2019. ETSU and other colleges in the Johnson City area provide a unique opportunity for TCBC to advance the gospel and have a global impact from our own backyard. Our goal is to expand partnerships, build relationships, and facilitate ministry opportunities to make Jesus known to the thousands of college students in the Johnson City area.

GO MAKE DISCIPLESGod has reconciled us and given us the ministry of reconciliation. We are His ambassadors. Here are a few ways our budget makes Jesus known through Christ-centered mission:

• In Serving: TCBC Serves the Vulnerable. Every year TCBC mobilizes to meet the basic needs of those in the Tri-Cities and around the world, prioritizing the efforts that most facilitate gospel proclamation.

• In Training: TCBC Trains Leaders. Cohort 4 of the Leadership Training Program will graduate and Cohort 5 will begin in 2019. Additionally, TCBC uses strategic partnerships to equip local church pastors and leaders in multiple nations.

• In Sending: TCBC Sends Disciples. In 2018 more than 100 people proclaimed the gospel in 5 major U.S. cities and 10 countries across 4 continents.

• In Reaching: TCBC Reaches the Unreached. In 2018 we sent multiple families to serve as long-term missionaries among Unreached People Groups. There are multiple families TCBC is planning to send long-term in 2019.

• In Planting: TCBC Plants Churches. We are strategic partners with multiple church plants across the U.S. including The Oaks in Denver CO, Remedy City in Portland OR, Veritas in Washington D.C., and Overland in Fort Collins CO.

• In Sacrificial Giving: Over and above our regular giving TCBC advances the gospel through Give2Go. Our 2019 goal is $200,000 as we continue to pursue our 1BY21 Give2GO Goal ($1,000,000 to our Go Pursuits by the end of 2021).

OPERATIONSGod has charged us to wisely steward our resources for the edification of the church. Here are a few ways our budget makes Jesus known through Christ-centered stewardship:

• In Preservation: Through the regular upkeep and maintenance of our existing facilities, we continue to reap a harvest of changed lives on our campus. Almost every day and night of the week there are various groups, events, and ministries utilizing this ministry tool God has entrusted to our stewardship.

• In Technology: Adding new or updating technology is an important aspect of our communication and stewardship. In 2018 we made needed improvements in the main building. In 2019 we will make needed improvements to the Outpost.

• In Expansion: In 2019 we aim to make a necessary addition to the Outpost in order to facilitate separate middle and high school teaching space and provide further flexibility for other ministries and events.

• Note: In 2017 TCBC eliminated our facilities debt. TCBC is still paying our 2005 Land Acquisition payment. This is a contractual payment and is 100% principle, 0% interest.
