▪ Procedure and Evaluation

- In most tests, the reference/control tire is tested repeatedly in the progress of the test to

detect and consider changes of the ambient test parameters and correct its performance by linear interpolation.

- Generally, all tires in a test are primarily evaluated in relation to the reference/control tire.

- The performance is expressed as a percentage value, calculated on the basis of the measured and corrected test data.

- In this present evaluation, the performance of each tire is assessed relative to the reference tire (Goodyear ≙ 100%).

- In all evaluations, a percentage >100% means better and <100% means worse.


TEST DETAILS

▪ Tread Wear Test – Procedure and Evaluation

- 4 identical VW Golf VII 2.0TDI driving in convoy on an approved route. In order to avoid any unwanted influence on the tread

wear, drivers, tires, cars and positions in the convoy are changed according to an approved systematic scheme which leads to

equal conditions and test parameters within each measuring interval.

- Circuit course on public roads in Central-Germany (course “Röhn”). The selected route consists of country roads with a

larger share of curvy and gradient roads which contributes to accelerated tire wear compared to the regular wear in customary

everyday driving.

- Road type distribution: 68% Autobahn, 30% country/federal road, 2% city

- The minimum ambient temperature during the test runs shall be at least 7°C.

- Before the start of the test, each ~ 5.000 km and at the end of the test (~ 15.000 km) the tread depth of each tire is measured

by a 3D laser scanner over the complete circumference.

- The chassis alignment is checked and adjusted if necessary, at 0 km, 5.000 km, 10.000 km and at the end of the test to

avoid influences on the wear behavior of the test tires.

- The tire life is calculated by linear extrapolation of the tread wear until the legal tread wear limit is reached. The life time

performance is based on the smallest extrapolated value. The final result is built by the average of both front axle tires.
