WELCOME AND ANOUNCEMENTS AS WE PREPARE FOR WORSHIP

WORSHIP THROUGH SONG AND PRAYER

PRELUDE- “Assurance” Arr. John Ness Beck

INTROIT- “Open the Eyes of My Heart” Baloche

CALL TO WORSHIP (From 1 John 4)

Leader: This is how God showed His love among us;

People: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.

Leader: This is love:

People: Not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning

sacrifice for our sins.

Leader: Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

People: No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and

His love is made complete in us.

Leader: We love because He first loved us. Let us worship our loving Lord! Let us pray…

HYMN OF PRAISE 426 “Blessed Assurance” Knapp

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Chorus: This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long; this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight, visions of rapture now burst on my sight; angels descending, bring from above echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest, I in my Savior am happy and blest, watching and waiting, looking above, filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

WE WORSHIP THROUGH PROCLAMATION AND PRAYER

CONFESSION OF FAITH- (From The Westminster Larger Catechism. This is a series of questions and

answers that help us understand and proclaim what we believe.)

Leader: What is adoption?

All: Adoption is an act of God’s free grace in and for His only Son, Jesus Christ, by

which all those who are justified become His children, have His name put upon

them, have the Spirit of His Son given to them, are provided for under His fatherly

care, are welcomed to all the liberties and privileges of the children of God, and

are made heirs of all the promises and fellow-heirs with Christ in glory.

ANTHEM “There is a Redeemer” Green Duet: George Ellis and Wayne Wilson

There is a Redeemer Jesus, God’s own Son; Precious Lamb of God, Messiah, Holy one.

Chorus: Thank you, O my Father, of giving us your Son, and leaving your Spirit till the work on earth is done.

Jesus, my redeemer, name above all names; Precious Lamb of God, Messiah, Hope for sinners slain.

When I stand in Glory, I will see His face; there I’ll serve my King forever in that holy place.

WE WORSHIP THROUGH THE WORD

SCRIPTURE READING- 1 John 3:21-24

Leader: The word of the Lord

All: Thanks be to God!

SERMON- “1 John: God’s Commands” Rev. Eric Geil

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD OFFERING

HYMN OF RESPONSE- 447 “Because He Lives” God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus; He came to love, heal, and forgive; He lived and died to buy my pardon, an empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives. Chorus: Because He’s lives I can face tomorrow; because He lives all fear is gone; because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives. How sweet to hold a newborn baby, and feel the pride and joy he gives; but greater still the calm assurance: this child can face uncertain days because He lives. And then one day I’ll cross that river; I’ll fight life’s final war with pain; and then as death gives way to victory; I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives.

Reopening Updates Worship services will remain online only for the next few weeks. We are hoping to be able to meet for

worship on Sunday, May 31st with safety precautions in place. The church office will be open from 9am to 3pm Monday through Thursday at this time. The outside doors

will remain locked but if you need anything in the church office, call 706-529-2911 and someone can let you in to serve you.

Rapha House has resumed in-person sessions at the Rapha House on Ella Lane and they will also continue online telehealth sessions as needed..

Rec Place will be reopening in a limited capacity on Monday, May 18th. There will be new procedures in place to keep everyone safe and to abide by state and federal guidelines. The Rec Place staff are currently working to get the gym and their procedures ready for reopening.

ChristSchool is looking at Monday, June 1st as their reopen date. Class sizes, processes, and procedures will need to be altered according to current state regulations. Mary and Angie are working with our state agencies to get all those procedures into place.

Text Message Alerts The church now has the ability to send a mass text message to every church family in the event that there is an

urgent message that we need to communicate quickly. The head of household of each family will receive the text

message unless we do not have a cell number on file for that person. In those cases, the message will go to the

spouse’s cell number. If you want to be sure we have the correct cell number on file for you, you can call the

church office at 706-529-2911.

These text alerts will not replace any of our other communication methods but will be in addition to.

MarketPlace Update MarketPlace has been cancelled for this year, but we are looking at options for hosting family events and

activities that would happen later in the summer.
