ISLAM AND FORGIVENESS AND RECONCILIATION…
Islam (like Christianity) teaches that
conflicts should be resolved by forgiveness and reconciliation.

reconciliation.

Use the following picture
EXPLAIN four reasons (POINTS)
why forgiveness is important to
Muslims.
One of the names for
Allah is MERCIFUL
Muslims are taught that if they realise they have done wrong and promise
not to do the same again they will be forgiven by Allah (He will show
MERCY).
On the day of judgement Allah
will show forgiveness and
mercy to....
...those who show mercy and forgiveness to
their fellow humans.
Muslims are taught that if they want to go to paradise on the Day of Judgment they must have shown mercy/forgiveness to
others.
URMuslims
recognise they are all part of the UMMAH
and so should have good
relationships with each
other.
Muhammad taught that
people should forgive and
reconcile so...
...they should follow by
example and follow his teachings.
There are many teachings in the Qur’an about forgiveness and reconciliation....
These mean...
‘If a person forgives and makes
reconciliation, his reward is due from
God’(Surah 42:40)
‘A kind word with forgiveness is better than charity followed
by injury’(Surah 2:263)
‘Live as fellow brothers and sisters,
as Allah has commended you’
(Hadith)
The Qur’an is full of passages about the forgiveness of Allah
and of his instructions that Muslims should
also forgive. It is important they follow
the will of Allah.
URFORGIVENESS ON HAJJ…
One very important way
in which Muslims follow the teachings on forgiveness
and reconciliation is
during HAJJ.

clips – pick TWO
examples from HAJJ and use them as

your POINTS on why
forgiveness is important to Muslims.
Before going on Hajj
A Muslim is expected to purify themselves. As part
of this they must make peace with those they
have fallen out with and ask for forgiveness from
those they we have wronged. The IHRAM
worn are a symbol of this purity.
All Muslims wear the same to show equality and
brotherhood as part of the UMMAH (The worldwide
Muslim community).
IHRAM = a state of being sacred.
The white robes show equality and selflessness.
Mount Mercy
On the 2nd day of the pilgrimage known as the
"Day of Arafat” the
pilgrims spend the entire day standing (or
sitting) near the Mount of Mercy, asking Allah for forgiveness and
making supplications.
Stoning of the DevilWhile this ritual does signify the defiance of
the devil, Muslims keep reciting the praises of Allah and ask for forgiveness
throughout.
Grade BMost will be
able to explain the
journey of Hajj illustrates the importance of forgiveness in
Islam
