Winter plants for indoors and out

Christmas at Garsons

Keep the colour in your borders with late-owering herbaceous

euphorbia, heuchera, aster and sedums. Add interest with skimmias,

azaleas, acers, rhododendrons, topiary and bay. Choose from differ-

ently coloured camellias and pretty cyclamen in shades of red and

white as a thoughtful gift for the gardener in your life. Or surprisethem with a planted arrangement to brighten up the winter patio.

Have a pine-scented home with a Christmas tree from Garsons. The

varieties are UK grown with non-drop needles and are available in

ots of sizes and pruned to the perfect shape. Complete your natural

decorations with a real wreath and festive garlands, along with foliage

bundles and real mistletoe.

Poinsettia plants can last for weeks beyond the holidays when placed

n indirect sunlight for at least six hours a day. Protect from cold

drafts and excessive heat, and stop from drying out. The air can be

dry at Christmas, so it may need more water. When the bloomingseason is over, use an all-purpose fertiliser monthly for best results.

You can add beautiful atmosphere to your home with the Yankee

Candle collection of poinsettia candle holders and trays in hand-

nished crackled glass and poinsettia owers. The collection goes

perfectly with Yankee candles and fragrances.

Caring for your Christmas tree

f you would like your tree to last beyond the festive season, get one

thats been pot grown. The trees we have in the Garden Centre have

been reared to give a good root system. Bring it indoors at the last

minute and keep it well watered and sprayed. Put it back outside

after Christmas, in a sheltered spot for the rst few days while it

acclimatises. If its not frosty, you can either plant it in the ground orput in a bigger pot if you want to bring it indoors again next year.

How to keep your fresh-cut tree looking at its best:

stand it in water overnight before bringing it indoors

remove one inch from the base to allow water uptake and keep it

fresh

give it up to a pint of water each day to keep it in peak condition,

but be careful of the electrics if you have fairy lights

try to position it in the coolest part of the room

Wild about pets and garden birds

New this autumn at Garsons Titcheld branch is the Pet and Wildlife

Centre.

Catering for pet care, aquatics and wildlife the expert team are on

hand to give guidance and advice.

Theres a wild bird care department, to help your garden birds

through the cool winter months, and plenty of feeds to attract wild-

life to your garden.

The aquatics department is also well worth a visit, with many excit-

ing sh types to view and purchase. For your dogs and cats, theres

treats, pet beds, grooming and toys.

Christmas at the Restaurant

Enjoy a traditional two course turkey lunch with all the trim-

mings for 12.95. Christmas lunch is available daily from Monday

14th November to 23rd December and the Restaurant is licensed

to sell wine and beer so you can get in the Christmas spirit! Festive

food is available throughout December and festive coffee mornings

or tea parties can be arranged from 4.95 per head. Contact the

Restaurant for details and book from 1st November.
