Elvis was in the building!

Elvis Presley came to visit us at Kingsland House and boy were we excited! ‘He was absolutely fantastic’ said June, one of our residents. He flirted with all the ladies and inspired all the men, telling stories of his days as a soldier. Everyone was tapping their feet and dancing along in their chairs!

Fun on the Farm We took a little trip to East Clayton Farm near

Washington where we were greeted very warmly with hot drinks and pastries. The farm were so great, we sat in

a warm little hut with sofas and chairs and the animals were brought to us so we didn’t have to trek out onto the far reaches of the farm. We met two lovely little Guinea pigs, two donkeys, and two very mischievous goats! It

was a great afternoon had by all!

Dove Release

Halloween From spooky cauldron baking in the morning, to pumpkin carving and trick or treating in the afternoon, a great day was had by all!

Our open day was a hit, we had entertainment all day starting with David the Magician who made balloon animals for everyone! In the afternoon we had a wonderful singer to entertain us for a good sing-song, and we also had a special dove release. The residents loved stroking the doves and saying special messages to them as they released them into the air. We can’t wait to see the doves again!

The Barchester Care Awards & Barchester in Bloom

A great day for Team Barchy

The Barchester Care Awards, including the garden categories (Barchester in Bloom), is an annual event that showcases the very best that Barchester has to offer. The Care Awards celebrates the fantastic individuals who work and volunteer in Barchester care homes across the UK; and Barchester in Bloom recognises the beautiful outdoor spaces tended by residents and staff members. Our Divisional Winners have already been named, and the award ceremony will be held in Manchester on October 11th, when the National Winners will be announced. Good luck to all our Divisional Winners and thank you to everyone who took the time to make a nomination.

A huge congratulations to the Barchester staff members who completed the London 10k in scorching heat this summer. The atmosphere in Central London was fantastic, with Westminster shut down to traffic and transformed into a moving street party of thousands of people running, cheering and laughing. The runners were also extremely busy fundraising ahead of the big day, smashing their target and raising an absolutely fantastic £2,119 for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, plus gift aid.
