TRIANGLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ATHLETIC CONFERENCE GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION

1. There will be a $5.00 admission for the following conference tournaments: Boys/Girls Varsity

and JV Basketball, Swimming, Volleyball and Wrestling. There will be a $3.00 admission charge for the Track & Field conference championship meet. TISAC students will be admitted for Free with student ID.

2. A conference school hosting a TISAC tournament will be responsible for paying the expenses

of a conference tournament and will be reimbursed for officials, security, support personnel and furnishing supplies for the hospitality room. Net revenue generated from the tournament is then submitted to the conference treasurer.

3. The TISAC will pay up to $150.00 for the hospitality room expense during conference and/or

State tournaments that are hosted by a conference school. 4. The ejection/suspension rule is in effect for all sports at all levels. Any player or coach ejected

or disqualified from a contest will be suspended from playing or coaching in the next scheduled contest. Players serving a suspension may sit on the bench but may not dress. A coach serving a suspension may not attend the contest. A $100 fine will be assessed should a coach be ejected from any game. Any coach who is ineligible due to an ejection will be fined $500 if he/she attempts to coach or to attend a subsequent game. See NCISAA regulations for additional information.

5. Since the TISAC automatic birth into NCISAA tournaments is determined by the results of

conference tournaments in volleyball and basketball, the completion of the conference tournament will take priority over the regular season. In the case of multiple rainouts/cancellations it may become necessary to NOT play all regular season games in order to play the conference tournament as scheduled. In such cases, seeding for the conference tournaments will be based on head to head matchups. If this does not resolve the seeding, winning percentage will be used.

6. In the event of a conference tournament NOT being completed due to multiple rainouts, the automatic birth into NCISAA tournaments will be determined by regular season standings. The conference president must have knowledge of and approve such a circumstance.

7. Prestige cup points will be awarded based on regular season standings. In the event of ties,

Prestige Cup points will be split between the tied schools. 8. The maximum grade level for all JV teams is 11th grade. Seniors are not eligible to participate

on JV teams.

TRIANGLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

PRESTIGE CUP Athletic Directors, upon the formation of The Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference, established the Prestige Cup. The Prestige Cup is awarded at the conclusion of each school year to a member school in honor of the boys and girls programs that accumulate the most points through varsity team results. These points are awarded based on regular season standings throughout the school year. The girls Prestige Cup is named in honor of Mary Lou Jones, a longtime coach and athletic director at Saint Mary’s School. The formula for determining Prestige Cup points is as follows: Girls: Since there are six member schools, the first place finisher in regular season in any girls sport is awarded 7 points. Second place will receive 5 points on down to 1 point to the last place finisher in any sport. Boys: Since there are five member schools, the first place finisher in the regular season in any boys sport is awarded 6 points. Second place will receive 4 points on down to 1 point to the last place finisher in any sport. Point totals are tallied for each season in both boys and girls sports and a final tally is made at the end of the spring season to determine the winners of the Prestige Cup. In the event of having less than the maximum number of schools participating in any given sport, points are adjusted to fit the number of schools participating in the conference in that sport. Example: In lacrosse there are only 3 schools participating so the points would be awarded at 4 for first place, 2 for second place and 1 for third place.

TISAC All-Conference Selection

I. The sports listed above will select All-Conference teams using the nominating and voting procedure listed below A. It is the responsibility of the coaches to select the best players in that sport for that

season. B. The size of the All-Conference teams is determined by the number of starters on a team plus 2. C. Coaches will nominate players from their own teams that they feel deserve consideration.

a. Players are to be nominated based on their stats for the season, not just the stats in TISAC games.

b. Coaches should discuss the nomination of any player who has not played in at least 50% of the regular season games (not limited to TISAC games)

D. Each coach votes for what they consider the top players in rank order. (1 through # for that sport) and a complete ballot must be submitted

E. Points will be awarded for the rank in which players are voted. (i.e.: top player receives highest # of points for that sport down to last player 1 point).

F. A player that does not receive a vote from a coach automatically receives a "0". G. Coaches may vote for their own players, but the high and low votes received by each player

will be discounted. H. The player receiving the most votes will be named the “Player of the Year” I. The players with the highest point totals will be named All-Conference. J. If there is a tie for the final spot, an additional member or members may be added to the All-

Conference team. II. Honorable Mention

A. A player that receives at least one vote, but not enough to points to make the All-Conference team will receive honorable mention. Example: There are five coaches voting for basketball A player receives the following votes 1 - 2 - 0 - 0 - 0 You throw out the high and the low (removing the 2 and one of the zeros) leaving 1 point; that player would receive honorable mention recognition Example: There are five coaches voting for basketball A player receives the following votes 0 - 2 - 0 - 0 - 0 You throw out the high and the low (removing the 2 and one of the zeros) leaving no points; that player would not receive honorable mention recognition

BOYS/GIRLS TENNIS I. Eligibility – same as NCISAA rules

A. Each school shall play each other conference school twice during the season a “home and home” format with the host school furnishing the balls.

B. Match dates and times are to be determined and agreed upon by the school involved. C. Any match not played due to the weather will be made up on the first available playing date

agreed upon by both schools. A match discontinued due to weather will be continued at the point at which it was stopped on the next possible date.

II. League Matches

A. Varsity Matches 1. Team tennis consists of 9 matches, 6 singles and 3 doubles with the team winning the

most matches winning the team event. The team match will begin with doubles play and conclude with singles. Doubles matches will be an 8 game pro set with a 12 Point Tie Breaker played at 8 all (first player to reach 7 points winning by two). Single matches will be 2 out of 3 sets with the third set being played as a tie breaker. The format for this third set being played as a tie breaker will be a Match Breaker Tie Breaker (the first person to reach 10 points by two). Regular add scoring will be used in both singles and doubles.

2. The singles line up should place players in order of ability (as decided by challenge matches or what-ever system the team uses). Any combination of players may be used to make up doubles teams as long as team # 1 is stronger than team #2, which is stronger than team #3.

3. Illness or Injury: a. In case of illness or injury to the #1 through #6 singles players. If the singles matches

have already begun, but the match involving the ill or injured has not started yet, the coach may do one of two things:

1) Default the singles match in question. 2) Substitute another player lower than #6 for the injured or ill player.

b. In the case of illness or injury to the #1 through #6 singles, when none of the singles matches have begun yet. The coach must move all the players up and insert the substitute at the #6 position.

1) If a team does not have enough players the default must come at the bottom of the line-up.

B. Junior Varsity Matches – Regular add scoring.

1. If a team has enough players, junior high matches should consist of 6 singles matches and 3 doubles matches.

2. The singles and doubles matches will be 8 game pro sets with a 12 Point Tie Breaker played at 8 all.

3. All matches should represent strongest to weakest in line-up order, with the strongest players in the #1 positions.

C. Guidelines for All Matches

1. Regular add scoring will be used for all matches. 2. A 12-point tie breaker shall be used when the score becomes 6-all in each set. A 12-

point tie breaker shall also be used when the score becomes 8-all in the Pro set for doubles. The 12-point tie breaker is concluded when one player gets 7 points leading by two. No coaching during breaker.

3. Coaching will be allowed at each changeover, by the designated coaches only.

4. A coach who is familiar with the point penalty system may use it to penalize his own players only for poor sportsmanship during a match. He or she may do more – not less.

5. The USTA rules and “code” will apply to all matches. Especially emphasized should be the rule concerning line calls. If a ball cannot be definitely called “out” it should be called “in”. Any hesitation on the part of the player indicates some doubt; therefore the ball in question should be called “in”. A let should never be played in the place of making a call.

6. A coach or school representative must be present at each contest in which his or her school participates.

7. Inclement Weather Policy – if you have won 5 matches and the match cannot be continued; it will be considered a complete match. If you have not completed 5 matches the match will be rescheduled (next immediate date) and continue from the point of suspension.

III. Conference Championship

A. The regular season champion will be the automatic bid to the state tournament. Other teams can qualify by an at-large bid to be determined by a seeding committee established by the NCISAA.

B. In the event of a tie for first place in the regular season, the following will be looked at to determine the first place position:

1. Head to head records. 2. If split head to head then look at the record vs. the team below in the TISAC

standings. 3. Record vs. common NCISAA 3A opponents. 4. Record vs. any common opponent. 5. Have a play-off game – site to be determined by a coin toss.

IV. All-Conference Selection

A. All-Conference team is selected by the coaches through the nominating and voting procedure.

B. Eight-person all-conference team will be nominated. The first six players by using the singles flight. The next 2 selections would include the 6 next best players as voted on by coaches.

C. Selection Process: Coaches nominate the players from their teams whom they feel deserve consideration for all-conference honors. The Sports Chairperson will distribute a nomination list and ballot to each coach to vote for the all-conference team. Each coach chooses whom he or she considers the best players in the conference in descending order. Coaches may vote for their own players. The All-Conference team will be named based on the total number of points players receive in the voting. The player of the year will be the top singles player.

D. A player that receives at least one vote, but not enough to points to make the All-Conference team will receive honorable mention
