We can say with all honesty that we have built our extensive knowledge of floors "from the ground up". Since 1950 we have been trans-forming high-quality, natural raw materials into really special products. We started out as Tischlerei Lohnsburg. Today we are a fami-ly-run business that enjoys international suc-cess with about 250 employees. Just as before, all our tilo floors, stairs and skirting boards are produced in Lohnsburg in Upper Austria.

Vinyl is a multi-purpose material; its advan-tages are just as numerous its applications. High-quality vinyl is also used in health care environments, complying with the toughest EU regulations.

Vinyl is tough yet easy to look after. Our design floors are treated with Twist PLUS varnish making them hard-wearing, long-last-ing and moisture resistant. Furthermore, they are very easy to maintain and clean. A robust, strong material that feels like velvet – just an-other incredible advantage of our vinyl floors.

tilo vinyl floors are not just a treat for the eyes. Thanks to our finishing processes, we don’t just make floors that are comfortably warm underfoot, they also bring you noticeably closer to your ideal.

By copying nature, we create something re-ally special surprisingly beautiful.

Design.With vinyl, anything is possible. A decorative film is used to produce the appearance of vi-nyl floors. You can really let your imagination fly as tilo offers wood, stone and metal-ef-fects, all made out of vinyl.

Bevelled edges.The edge design dictates how much the edg-es of the planks can slope. The sloping edg-es are known as “bevelled edges”. By using these bevelled edges, the individual planks are clearly defined.

The surface structure.It's not just the design we’ve taken from real wood, we’ve also take inspiration for the sur-face structure of the vinyl. Thanks to our syn-chronous embossing, not only can you see groves, cracks and structures, you can feel them too. For our stone-effect, the wave and sand structures vary. These surface finishes

give the floor a “real” tangible experience. The better the processing quality, the more realistic the vinyl floor looks. For us, the high-est quality finish is naturally the synchronous embossing.

High-quality vinyl floors use softening agents to retain the desired characteristics, such as elasticity. Several years ago, these were called into disrepute in the food packaging sector. The industry reacted in a timely fashion, and since then, harmless softeners have been used. 44 TILO MAKES MY HOME

Rooms full of light and life, great creativity and lots of self-made items. Where there once stood a doctor’s surgery, there now stands an incredible home, created by production man-ager, Anja and Roland, a music producer and styling assistant.

Imagining the surgery rooms as a cosy home required a great deal of imagination: “We had to knock down a lot of walls and install a whole new floor. After nearly a year of construction, we moved in at the beginning of 2011.”

Many reasons to feel good

And the pair aren’t just creative by profes-sion - they have carried out much of the work themselves, planning nearly the whole build on their own. “Filling the spacious rooms was a real challenge. Little by little, we bought new pieces of furniture and accessories or we sim-ply made them ourselves.”

They find inspiration on DIY blogs, in maga-zines or in junk shops. Throughout their home, you can see an exciting mix of old, new and self-made items.

“We love cosy chic: grey, beige or sand-coloured furniture, a few subtle pas-tel-coloured plant pots and beautiful flowers are all it needs to look cosy.”

A floor that can handle anything. One particular highlight is the light-flood-ed kitchen with its inviting eating area. “We cook almost every evening so the floor real-ly needs to stand up to a lot of wear as well as being easy to clean.” The floor had to be warm and comfortable underfoot so tiles were out of the question. This is where they want to spend their light-hearted evenings with friends and family: “The kitchen’s the place for dancing!”

In the hallway too, a uncomplicated floor was important: We don’t like leaving our

shoes at the door so we needed a floor that was easy to clean.” The bench and wardrobe were both made by the couple themselves! “We’re actually just our cats’ lodgers.”The real heads of the house are O.J. Stimp-son and Misery Katzwinkel. “It’s actually US that lives with the cats.”With pets around, easy maintenance is a highly prized commodity “We have to mop the floors nearly every day because of the cats. A simple floor like vinyl is, of course, ideal.”

A typical, cosy day at Anja and Roli’s involves having breakfast together, making music, playing with the cats, mixing a drink at the bar or cooking something delicious. They are very much at ease here: “Even after the most amazing holiday, we’re pleased to come home again!” And that’s just how it should be.

The bathroom floor has to stand up to a lot: high air humidity, water spills and even the constant heat from underfloor heating sys-tems. For a stunning yet easy to maintain floor, we present two products from tilo, which have been designed with those very situations in mind.

Vinyl has many qualities that are required in a bathroom: it’s warm, comfortable, easy to maintain and particularly stable. We have therefore taken 16 of our favourite vinyl de-signs and turned them into a waterproof SPA collection and a Pro+ collection of 1.5 mm to 2 mm thin adhesive sheets that are ideal for renovations.

The stone-effect makes your tilo bathroom floor particularly elegant and is much warm-er underfoot than tiles. Our pre-fabricated stair elements, consisting of tread and step risers, can be ordered “by the step” and can be used for straight or spiral staircases. When fitting, they just need trim-ming to size, saving work, time, and money! The fixed price per step makes calculating a price for the stairs really easy.

They are kind to the surfaces, have a revitalising effect and make your floors look as good as the first day they were laid. And the best thing is, you won’t need any other cleaning agents. Whether you need to do a quick wipe in between cleans or a more intensive treatment, tilo cleaning and care products are up for every task. When choosing a product to use, there are two things to consider: the level of soiling and the type of floor surface. As you remove dirt during clean-ing, the care element restores or improves the condition of the surface.

We distinguish between the following levels of soiling:

• Light to medium soiling: We recommend a wet clean with the appropriate tilo products and a subsequent treatment using tilo Quick Care.

• Heavy soiling: In this case, it is best to use tilo intensive products. The intensive cleaner dissolves dirt – then the intensive care product is perfect for restoring the surface.

We distinguish between the surfaces as follows – regardless of floor type:

• Innovo NATUR oiled• Vital NATUR oiled• Twist PLUS varnished• Twist PLUS MATT varnished
