We can say with all honesty that we have built our extensive knowledge of floors "from the ground up". Since 1950 we have been trans-forming high-quality, natural raw materials into really special products. We started out as Tischlerei Lohnsburg. Today we are a fami-ly-run business that enjoys international suc-cess with about 250 employees. Just as before, all our tilo floors, stairs and skirting boards are produced in Lohnsburg in Upper Austria.

Demands change values last.Attention to detail, a great deal of care and new ideas allow us to get the very best from each and every material. Over the years, we have not only increased our flooring-related knowledge, but also our understanding of our customers' needs. We get the most our of our floors just for you. But we never lose sight of the basics: care and love for wood. Right from the very be-ginning, we made the choice to use wood predominately taken from Austrian woods and sustain-ably managed forests.

We take our inspiration from Mother Nature. She is the artist and we reap the fruits of her work and bring it to reality. We are constantly astonished by the variety she has to offer.

#But with processing wood comes great respon-sibility. Here at tilo, we recognise this responsi-bility, knowing that this wonderful material, the resource of timber, is not inexhaustible. Trees need time to grow, so we place great value on sustainably-managed forests. Forests form the green lungs of this planet and each individu-al tree makes our world a little bit more worth living. We see it our duty to create a balance between giving and taking. We also work con-scientiously with our technical standards. Our buildings are heated using 100% carbon neu-tral methods from the wood offcuts resulting from our production.

Wood is constantly by our side. Wherever we are, we find this won-derful, natural material. It gives us a feeling of security and vitality. Its incredible adaptability inspires us, guides us and motivates us - our ideas grow out of wood.

What makes parquet so unique? Nature commands the greatest respect. It displays certain structures and lifelines, making every tree and every piece of wood unique. But it’s also down to the vast experience of our employees, as they know wood "from the ground up". From their well-practised hands comes something special.

And so, parquet remains just how nature in-tended it: a real one-of-a-kind.

GradingYou tell us how you would like your parquet floor to look. From every log, different pieces need to be graded. There are those that have a vibrant look, while others radiate calm and elegance. This is all down to the number of knots, ratio of sapwood and the colour var-iations. For that reason, we sort our parquet floors into three categories: calm, vibrant and rustic.

The surface finish.A hard-wearing, shiny coat of varnish? Or a matt oil finish that accentuates the pores? The finish doesn’t just protect the floor, it also emphasises its character. And for those that want it all, we have our Innovo NATUR oil. A special innovation straight from tilo! The naturalness of oil that’s as easy to look after and as hard-wearing as varnish. It is based on

natural raw materials to ensure that your floor remains beautiful in the long term.

Surface treatment.Well-being is all about feeling good. That’s why the choice of surface treatment is so im-portant; It influences how the floor feels un-der your feet. Whether it’s sanded for a matt surface, brushed to emphasise the beautiful grain, scraped for a beautifully fascinating re-lief or structured for an accentuated surface reminiscent of mature wood.

Some houses are impressive. Others are full of love, life and history. And then there are those that do both. Sophie H’s home in the coun-tryside of Upper Austria is one such exam-ple. Over 200 m2 of warmth, wow-effect and well-being that doesn’t just leave you speech-less but looks so inviting that you immediate-ly want to step inside for a cup of tea, or just move straight in!

Sophie is a blogger, wife, a proud mother hen to three boys, and a hand-crafter who likes to try out new things and loves to be surrounded by beautiful things and living comfortably. For her and her husband, planning their house was a real labour of love. “We wanted to let our own ideas and inspiration shine through. Our planning phase consisted of a huge pile of house-building magazines and many wine, paper and pencil-filled evenings.”

So much that is good, creative and beautiful.

The reason for Sophie’s blog name being “so-phielgutes” (Sophie’s good things) soon be-comes clear. In their home, there is so much that is good. She has managed to find the perfect balance between purism and heartfelt, warm naturalness.

“My blog, sophielgutes,is almost like my fourth baby: It often wakes me up at night, it makes me laugh and cry and brings out the best, most honest side of me.”

The balancing act between purism and warm naturalness. Sophie’s mantra for living: less is more “I’m a fan of simple, high-quality design and I don’t feel at home in rooms with lots of different materials, patterns and colours.”But she does like to add accent features in the form of cushions, rugs or pictures. “They allow me to change my home according to my whims, moods or season.”

A home full of laughter, love and natural-ness.For the floor, the family really wanted some-thing natural: “Having (young) children around, we spend a lot of time on the floor. It was really important to me to choose a

natural, hard-wearing covering that isn’t just beautiful to look at but also feels warm and comfortable.”In particular, Sophie values the fact that our floors are easy to maintain and keep pace with their busy family life: “We walk, dance, stamp, run, sit and lie down!”

When the floors go up the walls. Sophie immediately fell in love with the white oiled oak parquet floor from tilo: “It was the first big investment into our four walls, even before we began work on the house.” Today, it spreads across the whole of the ground floor, the same tilo design continuing up the stairs as far as the bedrooms and playroom. The uniform floor creates a truly harmonious

picture. And it even goes “up the walls”: “We had to have panelling in the living and dining room!”

A house is only built once. A home is made afresh every day.One of Sophie’s passions is being inspired time and again. Warm light, that conveys cosi-ness, and certain pieces that tell a story or that link us to loving people; they are the founda-tions of a place where you can love. And so it is, when all the different parts come together in the open plan living and dining areas, snug-gling, reading, playing, bouncing or dozing.“For us, home is more than just a place; it’s a feeling. When we’re here, we’ve really arrived.” And you can really feel it!

It is the experimentation with the laying pattern that makes 3-strip parquet so interesting: Three individual strips are arranged in an offset or irregular manner and placed side by side on the plank. The result is a floor that demonstrates a particular charm and that complements a great many interior styles. Our pre-fabricated stair elements, consisting of tread and step risers, can be ordered “by the step” and can be used for straight or spiral staircases. When fitting, they just need trim-ming to size, saving work, time, and money! The fixed price per step makes calculating a price for the stairs really easy.

All of our cleaning and care products are specially developed to meet the require-ments of our tilo floors. They are kind to the surfaces, have a revitalising effect and make your floors look as good as the first day they were laid. And the best thing is, you won’t need any other cleaning agents. Whether you need to do a quick wipe in between cleans or a more intensive treatment, tilo cleaning and care products are up for every task. When choosing a product to use, there are two things to consider: the level of soiling and the type of floor surface. As you remove dirt during clean-ing, the care element restores or improves the condition of the surface.

We distinguish between the following levels of soiling:

• Light to medium soiling: We recommend a wet clean with the appropriate tilo products and a subsequent treatment using tilo Quick Care.

• Heavy soiling: In this case, it is best to use tilo intensive products. The intensive cleaner dissolves dirt – then the intensive care product is perfect for restoring the surface.

We distinguish between the surfaces as follows – regardless of floor type:
