Tiger Cubs|Preschool News!Greetings my fellow Tiger Cubs! This is my (Suzie’s) official last week of work before I venture out on my maternity leave. We are scheduled for a C-Section this Saturday, February 14th (yes, Valentine’s Day). Please keep my family in your prayers.

While I am away you will be in the caring & capable hands of Mrs. Ashley (Koepplin). She will be taking over the directorship until I return in June, just in time to kick off our summer semester.

This Wednesday, February 11th at 6:30 p.m., you and your family have a wonderful opportunity to come and tour our fabulous Jr. Kindergarten classroom. The upper elementary classrooms will be open for your viewing pleasure as well. I highly recommend taking advantage of this event. If you can’t come this Wednesday, please call or email Betsy to set up a tour.

Please don’t forget that this Thursday, February 12th is our Preschool Valentine’s Day party. Remember to send Valentine’s Day Cards with your child on that day. Party time starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 11:00 a.m. Part-time students are encouraged to come during the party time.

Have a magnificent week!

Basketball Showdown 2015!This past Friday night the SJCS community gathered at the Campbell Christian School gym to watch two battles of epic proportion. Yes, the gym was buzzing with anticipation as the crowd waited for the 2015 Basketball Showdown to begin. As fans entered the gym they were greeted with vivacious music, friendly faces, and of course, basketball. The first matchup pitted the powerful boys team against the division champion girls team. Fans cheered as players from both teams were introduced by our beloved “Miss Microphone”, Betsy Philips. After a word of prayer from Dr. J, the ball was tipped and the game was under way! Our Tigers put on a show, displaying excellent passing, shooting, and defense. The girls kept the game close, but the boys eventually pulled away to earn a hard-fought victory. In between each quarter fans were able to participate in on court mini games, such as knockout, to play for the chance to win a prize!  Great job by both our boys and girls teams! The highly anticipated second matchup pitted the combined boys/girls team against the SJCS faculty/staff team. There had been much talk throughout the week regarding this matchup. Could the “old school” ballers hang with the young, energetic Tigers? Laughter filled the gym as the staff team was introduced with the help of some clever nicknames. The staff team, wearing the old green and gold SJCS Rams jerseys took the floor, ready to prove they weren’t as old as they thought they were. The ball was tipped and Tigers got off to a fast start. The Tigers stifled the staff with quick defense, leading to easy transition baskets. By the end of the first half the young Tigers had built a substantial lead. The second half began and the staff team came out ready to play. Led by Dan “Oh Canada” Werder, the deficit began to dwindle. Molly “4 boys & me” Nelson scored a basket and treated the fans to a nice celebration dance. An attempt at a legendary comeback in the final minutes fell short as the young Tigers won by a score of 30-24. After the game ended, the teams shook hands and gathered to take some group photos. Parents and fans crowded around the two teams in hopes to get a picture. The 2015 Basketball Showdown was a night where the SJCS community came together through the game of basketball. It was a night full of fun, laughter, and good cheer. It was a way to honor a great season of basketball. A big thank you to all who participated in this event. A fair warning to the Tigers for next year…the staff is out for revenge!
