A St. Andrew’s Heritage Moment
Quilting exists almost everywhere on the globe. Each country region culture has its
own quilting styles, traditions and techniques that have evolved from varied histories
connected with storytelling from generation to generation. A quilt can keep us warm
at night as well as ignite our imagination with the stories they can tell.
In this exhibit Museums of Mississauga showcases their Canadian Heritage Quilt
Collection – these histories and techniques in quilting are presented alongside with
quilts shared by residents, private collections and artists.
Sharing stories and traditions of the age-old practice of quilt making. The exhibition
will present Quilts from the Museums collection as well as traditional and contempo-
rary quilts from our community offering a textile narrative that exemplifies Canada’s
pluralistic history and larger issues facing contemporary politics and historical conun-
drums and crisis.
Come, see and enjoy the “Thread and Story” display of historic quilts including St. An-
drew’s embroidered name quilt.

Heritage St. Andrew’s
The Worship Committee looks forward with eager eyes
and hearts to continue praising God with our new
Celebration Hymnals, to renewed purpose, in all the
works we do, accepting new members into our church
family and paying attention to our congregants' needs.
We hope and pray September will be a spirited begin-
ning to a season of hope and rejuvenation within our
Church. Praise God from whom our blessings flow!
THERE WILL BE AN ADDED COMPONENT TO THE SERVICE OF PRAISE WITH A HYMN SING EVERY SUNDAY UNTIL
THE END OF THE YEAR WITH CHRISTMAS CAROLS ADDED IN DECEMBER.
Frosty’s Frolics is fast approaching! Yes it’s that time again! As well as arranging the
chancel flowers on Sunday mornings, over the last 10 months, the ladies of your
St. Andrew’s Flower Committee have been polishing, shining and getting tired
pieces of donated unwanted jewellery in prime condition to display for sale on the
jewellery table. Did you know that the jewellery table is one of the most popular
tables and the first stop for many at Frosty’s?
Think about it, you know you’ve stashed away some watches and handbags, earrings
and bangles, necklaces and broaches that you’ll never wear again. Take some time
and go through your jewellery stash separate out those “I’ll never wear that again”
items, and donate them to help replenish the Flower Committee’s dwindling stock. In
the hands of the Flower Committee, your dull pieces will shine and sparkle again,
giving someone else the opportunity to be as excited about your pieces are you once
were.
Ask your friends and family members if they have a jewellery stash that could stand a
clearing out. Most women do. When asked in a nice way they just might be grateful
for the opportunity to donate the old and to make room for something new.
To all of you who tossed your tired pieces, our way, over the year, many thanks as
they are looking quite eye catching right now.

The Compass Food Pantry
If you had the opportunity to spend some time with the Compass Patrons who came to the August BBQ
then you’ll know how appreciative these folks are with the support they receive from the Compass
Food Pantry. The pantry shelves are filled with generous donations of canned and boxed goods, toilet-
ries, and cleaning products (dishwashing soap, javex, bathroom spray, etc).
What a generous contribution could be made to the Compass Food Pantry if everyone dropped off just
1 item only into the box on the way to Coffee Hour.

Supplies
Are sitting on shelves in Staples and the Dollar Store waiting to fill your Shoe Box. The
sales will be over when the shoe boxes arrive so if you buy now and keep your finds
in the shopping bag, when the boxes are here, you’ll be ready and one of the first to
return your shoe box. Thanks from your
Mission Committee
A great shout out to the cottagers who faithfully collected pull tabs over the summer
and have made a generous contribution to the tabs already collected by the stayca-
tioners towards another wheelchair. We drop off our water jogs full of tabs at the le-
gion who give us an empty water jug in return. We never get to see the end results
but if we close our eyes,, we can imagine the joy on the face of someone receiving the
gift of mobility—a wheel chair. Thanks to all who took the time to save the tabs.
Another successful venture of your Mission Committee
