AN INTRODUCTION

Indisposable Concept is a film photography project with a strong focus on community and a keen sense of promoting creativity and individuality.

Indisposable Concept is all about you and the world you live in.

Indisposable Concept is all about sharing the stories you capture from your world.

Indisposable Concept is a unique platform created to promote who you are, the photos you take and your perspective of the world around you.

The film camera is the weapon of choice to allow anyone and everyone the opportunity to participate regardless of age or ability. The stories being told and the moments being shared along with the sense of involvement and community are the true essence and beauty of Indisposable Concept. All film is welcome, from all film cameras.

We aim to elimate the restrictions and technicalities when it comes to shooting with film and embrace the raw art of capturing the moment in its purest form with one single click of a film camera.

We hope you have fun being part of the adventure! It’s your involvement and enjoyment that makes all of this possible.

Thank you.

With love,Indisposable Concept

WELCOME TO INDISPOSABLE CONCEPT

Capture the world around you with a film camera of your choice and share your stories with the IC family.

Indisposable.adj. Of or pertaining to something that is not disposable; something that one cannot do without.

Indisposable Concept (IC) is a creative, community inspired project that encourages people to focus on the process of using one roll of film from one film camera to capture and share the world around them through a sequence of shots. The beauty of this process is that by using the medium of film each shot taken is unique and untouched. The images can’t be deleted, only a certain number of shots are available and nothing is revealed until the photos have been developed. This is a raw exercise capturing the world around you in it’s purest form, an experiment built to explore human interaction and gain insight into different peoples lives across a broad demographic.

What are the most important things in your life? How do you see them and how do you interpret the world around you? It’s up to you to capture the moments, the people, the world you live in via the medium of film. You can focus the entire roll on one subject or numerous subjects that you love and hold dear, as long as it portrays what’s unique and ‘indisposable’ to you.

Share the moments from your world - your work, your friends, your family. Show the world what is happening in your life - your holiday, your roadtrip, your hometown, your night out, your brand, your work, your passion. The concept is open and free to interpretation, how you capture and tell your stories is totally up to you.

You have a week (approx) to shoot your roll and capture your moments, but timelines are flexible so don’t stress if you take longer then a week, it’s about having fun and getting involved. Your folio will be featured on indisposableconcept.com as well as facebook.com/indisposableconcept with selected photos appearing on our Instagram feed @indisposableconcept as well as our Tumblr at indisposableconcept.tumblr.com.

Contact us if you have any questions or just want to say hi at [email protected]

WHAT IS INDISPOSABLE CONCEPT?

The Indisposable Concept project is all about eliminating the technicalities and proficiencies of photography and providing a level playing field for everyone to contribute. The film camera is the weapon of choice to allow anyone and everyone the opportunity to participate no matter what age or ability. The stories being told and the moments being shared along with the sense of involvement and community are the true essence and beauty of Indisposable Concept.

If you’re interested we’d love you to contribute a roll to Indisposable Concept. We look forward to seeing the moments that make your life unique and can’t wait to share your photos with the Indisposable Concept community across our various channels.

To contribute to the project you must shoot your roll and get the film developed yourself. Send the digital files to us (available on disk or as digital files when you get the film processed by a film lab of your choice). Please send your files (no smaller than 1000 pixels wide at 72dpi) to [email protected] via wetransfer.com.

We’re all about promoting and supporting the people that contribute so please include your website, blog, tumblr, instagram and any other link/s to your online worlds, along with the details of the camera and film you used as well as location info of where the roll was shot.

We will include these details with your online gallery. We support the creative industries and your role in contributing and being part of a creative community. Our objective is to use the Indisposable Concept platform to promote who you are, what you do and celebrate the world you live in.

INSTRUCTIONS

( 1 ) Download, print and read through the IC Info Pack to familiarise yourself with the world of Indisposable Concept.

( 2 ) Use your film camera to shoot photos of the world around you. (All rolls and contributions must be shot with a film camera). All film is welcome. Capture things in your life that tell a story – your journey to work, your night out, your trip to the supermarket, your festival experience, your friends, your road trip or holiday. Capture anything and everything that you perceive as unique to your world and want to share with the IC family. It’s totally up to you to capture the world you live in. It’s your interpretation.

( 3 ) You have 1 roll of film (from a film camera), 24 (ish) shots and roughly 1 week to work with. It’s ok if your roll of film has more than 24 exposures and the roll takes longer then a week to complete. Don’t get too caught up in the technicalities. Just have fun!

Please submit the complete roll to us so we can create your online gallery at indisposableconcept.com. Do not send us selects from the roll. We do not feature individual photos that are sent through to us and do not share photos on social media via a hashtag system. We pride ourselves on the process and featuring complete rolls to show the entire scope of a roll, not just hero shots or hashtag features.

The 1 roll of film, 24 shots and 1 week platform is only a rough guide to work within. Just have fun and enjoy the process of playing with film. You can shoot the roll in an hour or a day or take a month to complete it, we’re not too worried about the technicalities in regards to timeline. We just want you to get creative, acknowledge the world you live in and share it with the IC fam.

( 4 ) One of the photos you take on the roll must be a selfie. This element of the roll is open to interpretation and up to you how this photo is captured. We’re happy for it to be shot in the traditional ‘selfie’ manner or you can get someone to snap a photo of you. We use this photo as a profile pic when we create your online gallery on indisposableconcept.com. It’s okay if this photo doesn’t turn out or you forgot to shoot it. We will still accept and feature your roll.

On the 2nd August 2018, Indisposable Concept made the decision to change the basic fundamentals of the project. After nearly six years of being purely disposable camera focused the project opened its doors to accept contributions and rolls shot with all types of film cameras. Please read statement below released 2nd August, 2018.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Hi my name is Stu and I’m the founder of Indisposable Concept.

Today, the 2nd of August 2018 is my mum’s birthday, she would have turned 70 today if we hadn’t lost her in November 2009 to cancer. She was a strong and fierce woman that raised three children and instilled in each of us the determination and strength to create our own paths and fight for what we believe in. She taught us the importance of love and family and looking out for one another. She showed me how to care for others and believe in myself and to value the time I have on this earth whilst respecting the gift of just being here.

It is with joy that I take this opportunity to acknowledge on this day, the celebration of life and the world we live in, by announcing that moving forward Indisposable Concept will accept contributions from all types of film cameras, not just disposable cameras. After 6 years it’s time to evolve and open the project up to new opportunities and explore a new path. All the same rules still apply to the project but all film is welcome, from all types of film cameras, not just rolls shot with disposable cameras or single use cameras. We will be updating our Info Pack online to reflect these changes. You can download it at indisposableconcept.com.

Although the IC project has been all about shooting film using disposable cameras we are aware of the negative impact one time use plastics have on our environment and the damage it is doing to our earth. We don’t promote or support the use of single use plastics in any shape or form. We personally practice recycling habits in our personal day to day activities and encourage people to recycle and use less disposable plastics when we can.

We’re excited about this change, and hope you join us on this new path and evolution of the project moving forward.

With love,IC

We aim to build a community through diversity and a willingness to contribute.

As well, all corresponding sponsors of sections have the right to use your images via their online channels for promotion of related projects. People from all over the world are welcome to contribute and everyone is encouraged to get involved and participate if they would like to take part. This is an open forum for everyone to be involved regardless of age, background or place in the world.

Indisposable Concept along with the original photographer/owner of the photo, has final say on how, where and when the image is used. Indisposable Concept along with the photographer owns all rights to the photos contributed to the project and does not allow any photos to be used or reproduced in any form by external parties without consent.

ANSWERS TO FAQ

We thought we’d try and clarify a few things and make it possible for everyone to be involved and understand the various parts of the concept as well as possible. Please see below. Let us know if we’ve missed anything, if there’s anything that doesn’t make sense or other info you’d like to know. We will try to shed some light where we can.

Q. Is it free to do?A. Yes it is free to contribute to the Indisposable Concept project. However you must have your own film camera and purchase your own film. You must also get the film developed yourself from your choice of film lab.

Q. How do I contribute to the Indisposable Concept project?A.

Q. Can I shoot on my digital camera?A. Indisposable Concept is a FILM ONLY project, no digital photos please. All photos must be shot using a film camera of your choice.

Q. Can anyone do this?A. Indisposable Concept is open to everyone with a film camera to contribute.

Q. Can I contribute multiple rolls?A. You can shoot and contribute as many rolls as you like.

Q. Do I have to contribute complete rolls or can I submit just my favourites off a particular roll?A. We only accept complete rolls. We do not feature individual photos that are sent through to us and do not share photos on social media via a hashtag system. We feature all the photos from your roll in an online gallery at indisposableconcept.com

Q. Are you looking for information on each photo such as locations or a bit of backstory?A. We don’t need info about each photo, unless you want to provide those details. We just need location details (where the roll was shot), your Instagram handle/website details and info about the type of camera and film used.

Q. How long do I get to take all the photos?A. You have 1 roll of film, 24 shots and 1 week to work with. You have a week to capture your moments and share your stories but timelines are flexible so don’t stress if you take longer then a week to complete the roll. Majority of film rolls have 27 exposures which is totally fine also. (The 1 roll of film, 24 shots and 1 week platform is only a rough guide to work within. Just have fun and enjoy the process of playing with film.)

Q. Where can I see my photos once I have sent through my roll?A. We post all contributions as online galleries at indisposableconcept.com. We also curate and feature select images across our various social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr. Contributed photos may also appear in an Indisposable Concept Exhibition or across other online collaborations we are involved in.

Q. Do I need to use a specific kind of film camera?A. Any type of film camera is fine to use. As of the 2nd August 2018, Indisposable Concept project began featuring rolls shot with all types of film cameras, not just disposable cameras. All film is welcome.

Q. I am not living in Australia; can I still contribute?A. Indisposable Concept is open to anyone and everyone that calls planet earth home.

Q. Is there anything I need to know before I start capturing the world around me?A. Please download the IC INFO PACK before you start to find out more about the project and what’s involved. It provides a description of the project and a few things to keep in mind. It is located at the top of the INSTRUCTIONS page at indisposableconcept.com/instructions.

Our door is always open. If you’ve got any ideas or would like to contribute or collaborate with us than please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to connecting with you soon. Thanks for your support in growing the project with us!
