ALLELUIA! CHRIST IS RISEN and LOVE LIVES!
Our 4-week Spring Series, “LOVE LIVES” is underway! This series is based on the first letter of St. John. In Week 1 we discussed our love of the things of the world vs. our love of God. Our world is temporary, whereas God is eternal. Where are you investing —in that which is fleeting or in that which lasts forever? “Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.” -1 John 2:15

ENCOUNTER
As a part of #WeGiveCatholic on Giving Tuesday this
past November, Holy Martyrs raised funds to help our
junior and high school teens encounter God in a
meaningful way with a 3-day service retreat
called Encounter.
Encounter provides opportunities for teens to live as
disciples of Christ through serving others. Encounter
seeks to foster participants’ Catholic faith with
dynamic speakers, hands-on mission projects and the
nourishment of the sacraments.

Ireland Pilgrimage to World Meeting of Families
The Cleveland Diocese’s Department of Marriage
and Family Ministry has planned a trip to Ireland
in August and is inviting parishioners. The nine-
day trip includes Ireland’s religious sites and
attendance at the World Meeting of Families,
where Pope Francis will lead the closing Mass.
This is an opportunity to grow in faith and meet
others from the diocese and the world.

Healing Through Meals
The Latina Project, an outreach by the women of
Holy Martyrs and our sister parish, La Sagrada
Familia, provides a meal once a month during a
support meeting for women who are survivors of
domestic violence.
You can help by providing part of a light meal,
spending time with the women or babysitting dur-
ing their meeting. The next meeting is April 16. An
invitation to help is emailed to parishioners
each month.
Food needs to be dropped off at Holy Martyrs
Sunday through 3 p.m. Monday before each
meeting. Please contact Diane Bruce at
[email protected] if you would like to help.
Reminder for HMKids Students
April 16 and 17: Jesus Day for second graders
Pentecost Play is April 23 & 24
Get ready for The First Pentecost, presented by the
fourth grade HMKids students! Each child has a
role and will read and sing.
HMKids students have been making windsocks to
raise awareness about Pentecost. They’ll carry the
windsocks into the fourth graders’ presentation on
April 23 and 24. The windsocks have the seven
gifts of the Holy Spirit named on them.
The First Pentecost, presented by the fourth grade,
leads up to this year’s Pentecost on May 20.
We Celebrate
This week, the young
people of the parish
who are preparing for
Eucharist reflected on
Jesus’ presence with
us in the Eucharist.
Through our sharing
the one bread and one
cup, we are made one
with Jesus and one
with his Body, the
Church.
How are we as a parish
living as peacemakers
to show that Jesus is
with us?
Award Given for Most Unusual Service Project
Josef and Natalie Plamper won the award for
most unusual service project in the “Lord, Help
Me To Serve” competition. They handed out
valentines at Transitional Living
Centers Inc. (http://Tlcdd.org)
They went to 13 houses total and visited adults
and children with mild to profound intellectual
and developmental disabilities. The people they
visited loved receiving the valentines and Josef
and Natalie loved meeting the individuals living
at the various homes. Their mother, Kela, says
this service project helped her children open
their hearts to people with disabilities.
Improving Water for Others
MISSIO (www.missio.org), launched by Pope Francis,
gives you a direct connection with his missions and with
those helping the most vulnerable communities around
the world. Choose one of Pope Francis’ missions to help
communities around the globe who suffer from water-
related issues. Your entire donation on MISSIO will go
directly to that mission.
In recognition of World Water Day, which was March 22,
you can help:
•children and families in Vietnam access clean water for
drinking and cooking
•a community in Kenya buy a water tank to collect rain
water
•a village in Myanmar drill a well for safe drinking water
•those suffering from drought and famine in Ethiopia
and in South Sudan
