We all know that “Reduce”, “Reuse” and “Recycle” is considered as 3R concept in the process of recycling. It is quite simple; we should reduce the purchase of any commodity. The reduced purchases will itself regulate the price. We know there are only two variables that determine the price - demand and supply. If the supply is less and demand is more the price could increase. If we are not purchasing a product, we simply make it available to someone else and we are reducing the demand. Once again reducing the consumption will reduce the demand. If reducing is achievable you can try reusing the available resource, material or product. The next day Buddha went up to his disciple and enquired what he did with his old robe. The disciple replied that he was using the robe in the kitchen as kitchen napkin. Buddha asked him what happened to the old kitchen napkin and the disciple replied that the cloth was being used to mop the floors and when asked what he did with the old mop the disciple told him "Master the wick that is being used to light our rooms is actually the strips of that discarded mop cloth". This made Buddha immensely delighted at the consciousness of the disciple. Instead, if you let out your emotions and feelings at the right time you need not go for such measures, and also this is expected in the global organisations and companies as “outgoing nature” of their employees. Panchagavya-the nature's giftadmires V. Ezhilarasi, Assistant Professor,School of Communication Panchagavya is a Sanskrit term, which denotes blend of five products obtained from cow: cow's dung, urine, milk, ghee and curd. Panchagavya is among the traditional products that is being used in various Hindu rituals from ancient times in India. The cow dung has an antiseptic property. It has anti-bacterial and fungicidal properties. According to old Hindu Ayurvedic science, the cow dung is mixed with water and then the filtrate is taken out of the suspension, which is the main ingredient of skin ointments that are effective in case of serious skin problems like eczema, psoriasis and gangrene. The cow's urine is also sold in the market under the label Gift of the Cow. It also has medicinal properties. As per Ayurveda, cow's urine is considered as one of the fundamental ingredients of many Ayurvedic medicines . As per Ayurveda, cow's milk provides special and unique nutrition, which cannot be derived from any other type of food. Cow's milk must be digested properly

to nourish all the tissues. It also promotes balanced emotions as well as balances all doshas. This is also an important food that enhances "Ojas", the force that maintains life. According to Ayurveda, the cow ghee is believed to be the best for human consumption. It has much nutritive qualities and is an ideal diet for heart patients, who suffer from blood cholesterol. The regular consumption of cow's ghee enhances physical and mental strength, maintains healthy body and increases the potency of the body. Cow's ghee has nutritive values and also helps in removing the impurities from the body. It enhances eyesight, maintain the health of muscles and tendons and keeps the bones strong still

flexible. Curd is another by-product of cow's milk. In Sanskrit curd is refered to as "Dahi". Ancient Ayurvedic physicians of India, Charaka and Sushruta have described the qualities and utilities of curd. For many diseases curd is used due to its therapeutic values and has been prescribed as tonic. It has some properties that prevent premature aging. Curd cures diarrhea and dysentery. Panchagavya is on of the traditional methods used to prevent and safeguard plants and microorganisms, which increases plant production. Panchagavya is used as natural fertilizers instead of chemical sprays. The modified version of Panchagavya, which is a unique liquid organic fertilizer, is used for organic farming and has been standardized after experiments and trials. Thus this magic mix of ayurvedic medicine can give a magical effect for the curing diseases in human beings as well as plants.

Super foods are natural foods that have an array of nutrients that work synergetically to expand the individual nutritional components. Many raw, organic vegetables fall into this category and one of the world's favorite super foods are cucumbers. Cucumbers are the 4th most cultivated vegetable in the world. Cucumbers are in the botanical family of melons and squashes. They are considered one of the best foods for the health of skin, joints, liver, and kidneys. They are also a natural energy tonic with their rich array of phytonutrients and electrolytes. Cucumbers are loaded with mineral silica, which is an essential component for healthy connective tissues (muscles, ligaments, cartilages, bones, & skin). It is also full of iron, potassium, magnesium, and vitamin C which gives a powerful alkalizing effect within the body. Cucumbers are rich in fluids that hydrate the skin, joints, and tissues. Cucumbers also contain triterpene phytonutrients cucurbitacins A, B, C, D, and E. These phytonutrients have been the major focus of research, due to their abilities to inhibit cancer cell signaling pathways. Fresh cucumbers have been proved to improve anti-oxidant levels within the body and inhibit pro-inflammatory substances such as COX-2 and nitric oxide. The combination of alkalizing

elements, electrolytes, and fluids make it one of the world's best foods for enhancing energy levels. Cucumbers are also known for stabilizing blood pressure and stimulating the body's natural detoxification process.

Cucumbers are often used to enhance skin function. The natural ascorbic acid and caffeic acid within the cucumber act to prevent water retention in the skin. This reduces swelling under the eyes and prevents the skin from sunburn, inflammation, and eczema. Cucumbers are also very effective when eaten and applied, for removing unwanted cellulites. Cucumbers dry out excess fluids and tighten collagen which has the effect of a natural cellulite reduction. Try eating some cucumber, juice it, and/or place the cucumber on the regions of water retention. Nowadays cucumbers are highly sprayed with pesticides that are hazardous to health, so it is better to go for organic varieties. It is safer to wash them before consuming. Many of the chemicals are waxy and do not come off easy with washing. So, it is better to peel off the skin rather than washing.

Thus cucumbers can bring out a healthy body and healthy mind which makes our life perfect and longlasting.

The modern world, acclaimed to be a world of achievements, is also a world filled with stress. Throughout life, an individual is invariably exposed to various stressful situations. One can feel stress at home,in office and everywhere.Stress happens whenever one’s mind and body react to some real or imagined situation. Since every situation or event in our daily life causes some type or degree of stress, it is impossible to eliminate stress, totally from one’s life. The point to be stressed is to enhance health and well being for the self and others. Managing stress effectively will benefit the self by improving quality of life and decreasing risk of illness. It will benefit those in our immediate environment by improving relationship and to generate caring. It will benefit the wider world by directing personal energy towards improving social conditions out of which mental and physical illness, violence, and other social problems arise. In short, the whole point of managing stress effectively is to promote wellness for the self and for others.

The best remedial actions

to control stress are ‘Change in thinking’ - by reframing thoughts and by developing positive thinking; ‘Change of behaviour’ - by being assertive, following proper time management, developing sense of humour, and getting diverted and distracted from the problems causing stress; ‘Change in lifestyle’ – dieting, exercising, drinking more water, pet therapy, meditation, yoga, taking a long walk and imagery, hydro therapy, music therapy, sound sleep, etc.

Thus, beyond a take –charge approach and a positive attitude, one can reduce stress in life by making healthy lifestyle choices and taking care of one's self. If time can be adjusted to provide regular rest and relaxation, one can be in a better position to handle life’s stressors when they inevitably come. As far as mankind exists in this world, so will the ‘stress’. It is born with you and dies with you. Hence, the chances of eradicating this problem called stress, is never possible. But what needs to be done is, to minimize or atleast learn to manage stress, without being much affected by its negative impact.

Stress the stressstresses V.Abirami, Assistant professor, Institute of Management
