The International Labour Organization (ILO) Decent Work Team and Office for the Caribbean, in collaboration with the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, is pleased to announce the launch of its Essay Competition on The Future of Work. The contest is part of a series of events to celebrate the ILO’s 100 th anniversary year and its 50 th year in the Caribbean. Essay must be written on the topic: The future of work. Essay must be a maximum 1000 words, covering all of the following: 1. Brief introduction on the current situation of the world of work globally and in the Caribbean (or in your country) in particular. max 200 words. 2. What in the next 20 years do you see as the main global trends with regards to employment and the world of work? max 200 words. 3. What do you see as the future implications of these trends on the Caribbean with respect to its economy, its society and social well-being, its laws etc.? Implications can be both positive and negative. max 300 words. 4. Propose 1-2 concrete solutions or recommendations on how the Caribbean can best prepare for the future trends, ensure the most positive impact and mitigate as much as possible, the negative ones.
