THE WRIGHT BROTHERS’ FLIGHT

On December 13th 1903, the Wright brothers piloted the first powered airplane. They picked a beach in North Carolina, as there was a constant wind there to help them lift off the ground and take flight. It only lasted twelve seconds, and they covered 120 feet in the process.

An automobile company couldn’t provide the brothers with an engine that was light enough or strong enough for their plane,

so they built their own.

The Wright Brothers weren’t the first to develop an airplane and run test trials, but they created a steering system that allowed the pilot to keep an equilibrium while in flight.

The Wright Brothers’ actual plane didn’t prove to be very significant in World War II, but their steering system was later used in other plane models leading up to more modern planes.

The brothers were visited by only a local reporter even though they made history on that December day. History that led to the flight of man.
