Library News Book Fair Our Book Fair is up and running. All classes have viewed the selection of books, posters and variety items on sale and have completed their “Wish List”. Items range in price from $1.00 right up to $25.00 with the average price

being around $8.00. Popular books can be reordered when sold out. There will always be a full range of available books on display as the final copies (if bought) will not be given out until the end of the fair. Posters and variety items, however, cannot be reordered. First in will get the best selection. When the children bring their money they will be able to make their purchases before school, from 8.45am, at lunchtimes and after school until 3.15pm. If possible, in our timetable, classes

may also be allocated a special time to come and buy. Parents are also welcome at any of these times. The Book Fair will close on Friday morning. No purchases will be accepted after 9.00am. The commission that we gain from sales will be used to make additional book purchases for the Library. Please get behind our Book Fair! Premier’s Reading Challenge Some Early Childhood classes are very close to reaching their targets and will hopefully achieve this before the end of August when the challenge closes. Some students who have been absent for Library lessons will need to borrow and read at home to catch up. Most students can now access their own records online and see exactly where they stand. Keep reading!

Public Speaking Our entrants in the Hunter Central Coast Public Speaking competed last Monday and Tuesday. All spoke very well and represented our school with distinction. As there were over 40 entrants in both the Stage 2 and Stage 3 competitions, it was a very long day for the children concerned. Cable G, from Stage 2, was awarded a Highly Commended Certificate for his outstanding performance. Congratulations to Cable and also to Cherokee N and Teleah M.

Netball News We are well into Term 3 Netball. All the Windale teams are enjoying their games and performing very well each week. Last Friday our Junior Purple Team had a very convincing win over St Pauls Gateshead 2, scoring 8 goals to nil. Our Junior Green Team played very well against St Pauls Gateshead 3, but was defeated on the day. Our senior girl umpires have been umpiring our junior teams and are growing in confidence every week. Thank you to Maree Crockett for mentoring Lucy K and Stephanie B and to Karen Williams for mentoring Sharon S and Hannah V. Our Senior Year 5 team played a great game on Friday but were beaten by a stronger Jewells Garnets. Thank you to Karen for looking after the team on the day and umpiring. Also a big thank you to Dorothy from the Canteen for stepping in to assist Karen umpire the game – we now have another great umpire on board! Also, thank you to Dorothy for supplying the delicious oranges for all the teams. Our Senior Year 6 team had a fantastic win over Jewells Rubies, defeating them 10 goals to 5. All the girls played extremely well and displayed excellent sportsmanship. This team has improved significantly over the course of the season and are to be congratulated for their hard work and persistence. Thank you again to all the parents who come along on Fridays to transport and support the girls. Thank you to Carly Kennedy for her tireless efforts in scoring for us every week. Mrs Tonge

Preschool Patch Hello from Mrs Sullivan, Mrs McKay, Mrs Lehman and Mrs Harrison at the Preschool Patch, Unfortunately the Sports Carnival was postponed last week but we will try again for this Friday, 19

th August. Hopefully the rain

will hold off! We are very proud of the children in our Preschool Patch because we have friendly voices and are friendly towards each other. It doesn't matter what is the colour of our eyes, hair, skin or what clothes we wear; we treat each other in a friendly way and with respect. Remember to bring your water bottles and hats for outdoor play.
