From the Baron and Baroness Greetings unto the populace of fair Aneala, from Their Excellencies, Lachlahn and

Jane.

First of all we must convey our thanks and congratulations to the stewarding team

of the College of St Basil's Newcomers' feast. It was a truly splendid event, with a

larger crowd than our Barony has seen in many a year. It gladdened our hearts

indeed to see so many new faces as well as familiar ones amongst the assemblage.

We most heartily commend Lady Gillian and the excellent kitchen crew for their

efforts, and we hope to have many more such delightful evenings spent in

merriment and congenial company.

As many of you will be aware, we are working to build harmonious relationships

with our neighbouring groups, and to this end, a meeting of all the western groups

was held where all were given the opportunity to air their views on the future of

our Society here in the west of Lochac. What emerged from this meeting was the

common goal of providing an appropriate environment for growth and

strengthening of our respective poplulaces, through nurturing our people - both the

newcomers and the longer-term stayers. We were most pleased with this outcome,

and look forward to continuing development of our shared interests.

With this in mind, we remind you all that the Autumn Gathering will soon be upon

us, and this is an opportunity for good times and fellowship that should not be

missed! Alas, it is indeed so that Their Most Excellent Majesties, Theuderic and

Engelin, have been unavoidably prevented from attending, and They too express

Their most sincere regrets to all of Their western populace. It is our hope,

however, that this blow shall be softened somewhat as there are plans well in hand

to welcome another pair of prestigious personages from the east - Count Sir

Stephen Aldred and Countess Mistress Mathilde Adycote of Mynheniot - to share

this event with us all.

Thus far, the year has proved busy but most enjoyable, and there is plenty more

still to come!

Yours in service,

Lachlahn and Jane

Autumn Gathering 2009

Autumn Gathering this year is themed on the Cloth of Gold summit meeting where

England and France came together to broker treaties, fight tournaments and jousts

and have great feasts. Likewise here we all come together to fight alongside and

against each other on various fields of battle, work together in workshops and come

together at feasting.

Autumn Gathering is a multigroup event run by members of every group on the

West Coast of Lochac, if you have an idea or would like to run something at the

event or fill in an officer roll, please do not hesitate to mail the event stewards at

[email protected].

Location: Lake Clifton Tavern grounds

Date: April 24th-27th 2009

Special Guests Countess Mathilde Adycote of Mynheniot and Count Stephen Aldred

will be teaching classes and training fighters. Mistress Mathilde is a Renaissance

woman -- she was Laurelled for excellence in music, textiles, costuming, lace,

weaving, music performance and arranging, dance, and herbalism. She was Queen

of Lochac in AS 39-40, she is also a Pelican for her great service to the realm.

Stephen is a Knight, a Pelican and was King of Lochac in AS 39-40, I hear tell he

just might be good at the fighting thing as well as having an avid interest in

Medieval Games.
