Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, London Wednesday, 8 February 2017 The road ahead conference Motor liability and insurance is in a state of flux We are at the threshold of a new age in motor transport. Safer automated vehicle systems, recently dismissed as science fantasy, are already being road tested. Major reforms to RTA liability as well as motor insurance are likely to be introduced within a new Modern Transport Bill. These could be the most significant and potentially disruptive changes to motor liability and insurance for sixty years. Driverless vehicles have obvious implications for the future viability of legal practice and the motor insurance sector. This technology raises entirely new liability issues. Added to this, the Government is finally waking up to the realisation that much of its national law provision in this area is defective and in breach of the European law minimum standards. Then there are the implications of Brexit and the realisation that third party cover ought to include product liability (but doesn’t), and the Ministry of Justice’s latest proposals on whiplash injuries and the small claims track. Throughout the day we shall hear from both claimant and defendant experts; listen to the cutting edge perspectives of leading insurers and practitioners in this field; we will consider whether there are any areas of common interest and how best to prepare for these changes. The day promises to be informative, interesting, and challenging and we urge you to book now to secure your place. The venue is the superb Marriott Grosvenor Square, in Mayfair. This conference is relevant to business owners and practitioners, APIL members, FOIL members, academics, JPIL subscribers, insurers, actuaries, and the judiciary. The road ahead conference

Motor liability and insurance is in a state of fluxWe are at the threshold of a new age in motor transport.
