There are many places where the people of Kalum have not been able to settle. Wild places where the touch of civilization is anathema. In these places in between sentient races exist that wish nothing to do with the others. Races of Orcs, Goblins, Drow, Giants, and the feared Dragon.

The people of western Dorn know well the Orcish armies that constantly raid and attack their villages and the great fortress city of Vernon. Luckily for the Dornish, they have superior technology that allows them to defend themselves far better than the Orcs can muster against them with all their numbers.

The Sylvestry elves to the south contend with numerous monsterous humanoids. The most numerous seem to be the Lizardfolk of the southern jungles and swamps. But fortunately they seem to be a fractured race along religious lines. Though the disputes are something that the elves have no notion of, they do know that it keeps them fighting amongst themselves and thus too busy to mount anything more than the infrequent raid.

To the north of Aurum, and west of southern Sylvestry lies the vast hordes of the Goblins. Their numbers seem to be without end and their constant attacks a wearying inconvenience that strikes at the morale of those who live closest to the sacred lake. But the Goblinoids never do more than raid for slaves, food, and weapons. They leave the survivors to grieve, mourn, and rebuild. Only rarely do they raze a place to the ground, and only then is it a small village

that would dare to make any sort of foray against them in their own homes.

Luckily for most of the people of Kalum, the Dragons seem to be few and far between, scattered throughout the hidden places of the world and content to keep their own counsel. However far to the south, a council of wyrms has convened and begun to take some of the wilds away from the Orcs and Goblins. The people of Aurum stand vigil, waiting nervously for the eventual attack to come.
