OAK LANE COMMUNITY At Virginia Tech, many of our fraternities and soror- ities call Oak Lane home. Located behind the golf course, Oak Lane is composed of 19 individual chap- ter houses and the NPHC House. Oak Lane seeks to provide opportunities for students to create com- munity, engage in sisterhood/ brotherhood, and live out their unique chapter experiences. Additionally, Oak Lane strives to build unity within the interfra- ternal community. Members of chapters who have a house in Oak Lane may be expected to live there during some point of their membership. Four governing councils make up the Virginia Tech fraternity and sorority community and provide coordination to the chapters they represent. Each governing council is unique in its operation and serves its chapters according to it’s own philosophy, purpose, and values. Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing council for 25 of our men’s fraternities, most of which are associated with the North-American Interfraternity Conference.
