certification for textiles
tested for harmful substances
• Legal compliance worldwide
• Flexible & up to date:
The RSL is adapted to new
requirements and production
methods on a regular basis
• Pesticides
• Perfluorinated compounds (PFHpA, PFNA, PFDA, PFUdA, PFDoA, etc.)
• Allergenic disperse dyes Legally banned &
regulated substances
• Total content of cadmium resp. lead
Additional harmful substances
• Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)
• Extractable heavy metals e.g. As, Hg, Pb, etc.
• Chlorinated phenols (TeCP, TrCP, DCP, MCP)
• Chlorinated benzenes and toluenes
• Solvent residues (NMP, DMAc, DMF, Formamide)
• PFOS, PFOA
• Flame retardant products (e.g. TRIS, TEPA, among others)
• SCCP and TCEP
• Organotin compounds (TBT, TPhT, DBT, DOT)
• Biologically active and flame retardant products are regulated separately
Changes in 2016
• Emission of volatile components
• Surfactant-, wetting agent residues: Nonylphenol- and Octylphenol ethoxylates; Nonylphenol and Octylphenol
Product quality • Skin friendly pH value
• Colour fastness
• Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)
• UV stabilizers
• Organotin compounds (10 additional substances)
New OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 criteria 2016
• Phthalates/softener
• Formaldehyde
• Chlorinated phenols – PCP
• Carcinogenic dyes/colourants
• Banned Azo colourants
• Heavy metals e.g. nickel, chromium(VI) • Dimethyl fumarate (DMFu)
13
What does the certification include?
• Realistic risk assessment of potentially harmful substances in
textiles by: • Inclusion of legal requirements
• Scientifically sound criteria and test methods
• Use-oriented testing
• Using a uniform set of criteria (RSL) for the analysis
of harmful substances
• Quality assurance via spot audits
• Sample picks of goods placed on the market

ECO PASSPORT: Two Stage Verification System
OEKO-TEX® comprehensive certification
system for chemical substances and
products including raw chemicals, colorants
and auxiliaries
Includes a two stage MRSL/ RSL
verification process:
• Stage I: Compliance Screening
• Stage II: Analytical Verification
ECO PASSPORT: RSL / MRSL Compliance Screening
PROCESS: STAGE I
Chemicals are screened, at the ingredient
level (CAS #s), against the OEKO-TEX®
RSL/ MRSL.
Compliance comparison in a cost-effective
manner. Customers will be informed about
any non-compliance quickly and efficiently
about ingredients of concern in order to
make substitutions prior to the analytical
verification.
ECO PASSPORT: Analytical Verification
PROCESS: STAGE II
Analytical verification in our OEKO-TEX®
laboratories ensure that certified chemical
products can be used in the sustainable
production of human-ecologically
optimized textile products.
