Stewardship – “And the Word became flesh”

JOHN 1:14 Jesus is God’s ultimate gift of love to us. The

countless other blessings that God showers upon us is with

our own generous love. When we dedicate our lives to

sharing all the gifts God has placed in our hands, the peace

of Christ truly will control our hearts and we will know

Christmas joy every day.

Catholic Charities USA – You Did it for Me

It is the season for giving! In Nigeria, Catholic Relief

Services is working with partners to help give the gift of

education to women in The Feed the Future Project. The

project helps family farmers improve their crops. It also

helps them by teaching life skills like reading and writing.

The 5-year program will help 42,000 families boosting their

crops, income and improving nutrition.

Attn: Eucharistic Ministers

Celebrating the Eucharist is at the very heart of our faith.

However, because of illness or injury, many of our fellow

Catholics in the local community area cannot join in the

celebration. To ensure that these community members

stay connected to us, Aultman Hospital is currently

seeking Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers to provide

the Eucharist to those who are hospitalized. These

volunteers are a wonderful “invisible army” that works

quietly, diligently, and lovingly to bring our Lord to those

who could not otherwise receive communion. If you are

currently commissioned as an EM or are interested in

becoming one and are able to devote approximately three

hours a month, you are encouraged to contact:

Deacon Dennis Ross at 330 494 2741 or

[email protected]. for fur ther information.

Why Do We Do That?

LITURGICAL POSTURES (Part 2)

“Kneeling is also a posture expressing humility. On

our knees before God, we beg for God to hear our

prayers. Kneeling is a posture of submission, of

saying yes. It is a posture of adoration and reverence.

We kneel at solemn moments of the liturgy; in the

United States, kneeling is the posture we take during

the eucharistic prayer from after the Holy, Holy, Holy

until after the great amen (see GIRM 43). Some

people kneel after receiving Holy Communion as a

posture of adoration. A variation of kneeling is

genuflecting, during which the right knee is bent to

touch the floor (see GIRM 174). We genuflect before

the Blessed Sacrament reserved. Like kneeling, it is a

gesture of humility, adoration, and reverence.”

Hosted by St. Barbara Parish

The joy of Christmas should last the whole season,

and we will celebrate in music the mystery and

majesty of Christmas with the arrival of the three

magi at Epiphany.

The bell choirs and adult choirs of St. Joseph’s Parish

(Massillon), St. Michael the Archangel Parish

(Canton), St. Mary’s Choir of St. Benedict/St. Mary

(Canton), as well as our very own St. Barbara’s Choir

and Bell Choir are collaborating to bring you the

beauty of Christmas here at St. Barbara’s!

The Youth Bell Choir for St. Barbara School will also

be performing a 10-minute bell prelude!

Epiphany marks the arrival of the end of our

Christmas season – our last chance to sing our

favorite Christmas carols. We will celebrate in music

and in faith the peace and beauty that this child of

mercy brings. The concert will be about an hour in

length and appropriate for the whole family.

It is free and open to the public, and refreshments

will be served afterwards.

Let us “haste to bring him laud,

the babe, the son of Mary.”

Thank you – from Rachel A. Hrbolich,

Associate Director of Social Services, Catholic Charities,

Diocese of Youngstown.

Dear Father Cline,

Thank you and the parishioners of St. Barbara Church for

your generous donation of $2,342.74 to support our 2016

First Step for Change campaign.

Catholic Charities is often an “agency of last resort” for

many who find themselves in a financial crisis. Your

support for First Step for Change enables us to provide

food, formula, diapers and other forms of material

assistance to pregnant women and families with children

ages 0-3 in our community. By providing help, Catholic

Charities works to create hope for those who struggle to

obtain the basic necessities of life that many of us take for

granted.

May God bless you and your parish for upholding the

dignity and value of human life by supporting First Step

for Change.

Thank you for participating in this project.

Sincerely,

Rachel A. Hrbolich
