Page 2 The Milt Matthews Hospitality Week Newsletter March 2013

The idea for the program was conceived in 1969 by PDG Milt Matthews, and has been copied by many other Districts throughout the United States.

Each Governor Elect guest is assigned two Rotary hosts. Their first host meets them at the airport on arrival and takes them to their home. In the middle of the stay, everyone meets at Brighton Rotary Club’s Exchange Dinner. All the hosts and guests have the opportunity to get acquainted and share Rotary experiences. When the meeting is over the guests leave with their second host for the balance of their stay.

The following pages include some of this year’s activities. If you are an alumnus of our hospitality program we hope this issue brings back fond memories, and that you will be reminded to recommend our program to your next Governor Elect. If you are a Governor Elect we hope this newsletter will entice you to sign up for our hospitality program. To contact us see page 8.

Letter from Larry Wetzel Dear Friends from around the world: After ten months of communicating with you, greeting you at the airport, speaking with you at the Belhurst Castle Hospitality Luncheon and in our home, I feel that we did, indeed, become friends. It was a pleasure to meet with you and become acquainted with you during your stay in District 7120. I do hope that we will meet again. Congratulations on becoming Governors of your districts and I send you best wishes for a most successful year. Dear Host and Committee Members: Once again the District 7120 team functioned as a well oiled machine. All our guests reported a good experience staying with us in the Finger Lakes. Our District Governor-Elect, Ellen Hughes, reported receiving many compliments about the program during the General Assembly in San Diego. The committee is appreciative of the fine effort of all our volunteer hosts. The 2014 program will be again chaired by Past President Pete Schwarz who has been the mainstay of the program for decades. We know under Pete’s leadership 2014 will be another successful year. A personal note: I want to thank all of you who have contributed to making my past two years of chairing this program such a great experience. Larry Chair 2010-11 to 2012-13
