ROTARY PLEDGE I do solemnly promise to help advance the Object of Rotary, comply with the Constitution and By-Laws of Rotary International and of the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong ever putting into practice Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self”.
THE FOUR-WAY TEST Is it the TRUTH? Is it Fair to all concerned? Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
THE OBJECT OF ROTARY The OBJECT of ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service. SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions, the recogni-tion of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and dignifying of each Ro-tarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society. THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life. FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
DECLARATIONS OF ROTARINS IN BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS
As a Rotarian engaged in business or profession I am expected to:
1. CONSIDER my vocation to be another opportunity to serve.

of my vocation, to the laws of my country, and to the moral
standards of my community.

the highest ethical standards in my chosen profession.
4. BE FAIR to my employer, employees, associates, competitors,
customers, the public and all those with whom I have a business
or professional relationship.
5. RECOGNIZE the honor and respect due to all occupations
which are useful to society.
6. OFFER my vocational talents to provide opportunities for

Thank you, Father,
for the gift of Rotary and each other.
we give thanks for the pleasure of gathering
together for this occasion.
We give thanks for this food prepared
by loving hands.
We give thanks for life, the freedom to enjoy it all,
and all other blessings.
As we partake of this food, we pray for health and
strength to carry on and try to live as You would
have us. This we ask in the name of Christ, Our
Heavenly Father.
Amen.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL FOR A SUCCESSFUL 52ndINDUCTION CEREMONY!
From all accounts, our governor’s visit and 52nd induction ceremonies
were a resounding success. This could not have occurred without the
hard work of the induction committee, the induction secretariat, our
spouses committee, and our choreographers! We had about 175
guests attend, and our governor’s visit templates are apparently being
cascaded to other BCPs within the zone. Let’s give each other a big
hand. Together, RC Mandaluyong will surely LIGHT UP ROTARY!
Aside from planning the festive occasion, our club has been hard at
work. PP Albert has been busy implementing our current Global
Grant, also known as the MPNAG Kitchen. Sec. Edwin and PP
Albert have also put together and submitted the proposal for our second Global Grant, which
we have called DRAP. A third global grant, to assist in creating livelihood projects for people
with disabilities, is currently in the works.
The Zone 8 presidents have been busy further conceptualizing our zone project, while PPs
Herman and Mark have been putting together the District Interact Assembly. The first School
Governing Council meeting was held at MPNAG; our secretariat has begun the cleanup and
transfer into our office at Jovan; we have been speaking with EDSA Shangri-La to try and
rebalance our package; and our committees have formed. Do look at the back of this issue for
your names. There is room for change should you prefer to be involved in another area of the
club.
We are sending 6 scholars to RTU; we have contributed to the BrigadaEskuela at MPNAG;
and we have sponsored remedial classes for 2,300 students and 100 teachers at Mandaluyong
Elementary School. We’ve also begun to go digital.
We’ve created a Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/pages/RC-
Mandaluyong/1389856221255018, or do a Facebook search on RC Mandaluyong. It’s all a bit
unwieldy at the moment but if we get more than 25 likes, we can get out own Facebook web
page address. So let’s keep those likes coming!
We have a digital publishing platform at www. issuu.com/RCMandaluyong. At the moment,
the induction program is available in digital format, and we hope to be publishing a digital
version of the Magdalo soon. We are also working on a digital calendar for the club, so stay
tuned.
It’s all coming into place, and there will be more to report next time. So until then, stay well
and cheers!

SHORT AND SWEET
The Secretary’s Corner this week will be short and sweet.
Power has been intermittent both in our home and office since
Typhoon Glenda hit on early Wednesday morning and it has
been quit a challenge to get things done, including this Secre-
tary’s Corner.
Events to look out for next week are:
1. RC BAGUMBAYAN INDUCTION CEREMONY on July
25, 2014, Friday 6:00pm at Hyatt Regency Hotel & Casino
Manila.
2. PUBLIC SPEAKER SEMINAR on July 26, 2014. Venue and
time to be announced.
In case you have questions regarding the events mentioned, you
can contact any of the Club Officers or the Secretariat.
Thank you and hope to see you in any one or all of our upcom-
ing events!

"What A Wonderful World"
I see trees of green, red roses too.
I see them bloom, for me and you.
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue, and clouds of white.
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night.
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.
The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky.
Are also on the faces,
Of people going by, I see friends shaking hands.
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying, "I love you".
I hear babies cry, I watch them grow,
They'll learn much more, Than I'll ever know.
And I think to myself, What a wonderful world.
Yes, I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.
Oh yeah.
