While continuing our commitment to academic excellence at all grade levels, we have extended the learning opportunities for our students to compete with their peers board wide and country wide. Congratulations to all the Math Club students who participated in various contests this year. They worked very hard throughout the year and have achieved impressive performances. Thank you to Mrs. Kumar and Mrs. Fung for their ongoing support of our young mathematicians. To the students who worked with Mrs. Kumar, Mr. Niarchos and Mr. Bourne a huge congratulations as you and your classmates with guidance, explored the world of STEM area wide. We continue to strive for excellence in all areas of school life. We value skill development and active participation and I sincerely thank all of our staff who have contributed their time and skill over the past 10 months to supervise all of the teams, clubs, bands and extra out-of-classroom experiences that encourage our students to risk take, work with others and broaden interests and talents. Our Soccer teams, our Volleyball teams, our Ultimate Frisbee teams, our Track & Field participants and our Music/Art/French night on May 9 th were evidence of the skill and the commitment of our staff and students over the most recent spring months. To those of you moving to other schools in other communities, we wish you every success and happiness. We hope that you will take many wonderful memories of your school career at David Lewis with you. To our graduates, I extend the same wishes as you embark on the next step of your learning career. You have been outstanding role models at our school. I have no doubt that you will make a difference and that you will achieve your future academic and personal goals. Good luck! You will be missed. Teachers, as well as students, move on for many reasons to other growth experiences. This year is no exception and we will be saying goodbye to special staff members at the end of this school year. It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Mr. Bourne one more time as he returns to retirement. Mrs. Banerjee will be returning to her Science Lab in September the mother of two children. Thank you, Mr. Bourne for your contributions to David Lewis! We hope to see you as a supply teacher! We also say goodbye to our grade 1 teacher Mrs. Griffin who has only been with us for 1 school year. She is adding to her family in August. We wish you a healthy baby and a fabulous year off with your daughter and her new brother or sister! PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE By Karen Peach

Mrs. Hern, our grade 2/3 teacher, has once again done a fabulous job in the primary division. Mrs. Hern has a wide background of many professional experiences and provided an outstanding programme for our young learners. We hope that you can return soon, Mrs. Hern! We have appreciated your very capable support of teams, the Folk Dance group and special events at David Lewis. You will be missed! After 25 years with the TDSB and three years at David Lewis, Mrs. Knudsen will be retiring at the end of June to pursue other interests. Travelling and time at her home in Peterborough will initially occupy her time over the summer but we are sure that she will engage in many other activities as she puts her working years behind her. Mrs. Knudsen, the students and staff will miss you. Your skills at creating our monthly newsletters to our community and your welcoming and friendly way contributed to the very positive atmosphere in the office at our fine school. Enjoy your retirement with your friends and family. Last but not least, we say goodbye to Mr. David Lee who has taught half time E.S.L. in the afternoon to our Junior students this school year. Mr. Lee has secured a full time teaching position at Lynngate Jr. P.S. for September and we wish him every professional and personal success as he continues his career. Mr. Lee, you are well loved by students and staff and you will be missed at David Lewis. Good luck! A sincere thank you to our Parent Council under the fine leadership of Diana Hsu, for her commitment to our students and families this past year. While parent turnout was very small I enjoyed our meetings as we learned, planned and supported our shared goals for David Lewis initiatives. We look forward to meeting with more parents next year and continuing the dialogue about our youngest kindergarten learners. Stay posted for special evenings! To all of you that are moving on to new experiences and new places, you will be missed! Please remember us fondly. In closing, I hope that everyone has a wonderful, safe summer. We look forward to welcoming all of you back on September 8, 2015 at 8:40 a.m.

PLEASE NOTE: Starting September 8th the lunch hour has been changed from 11:50 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. to

11:30 a.m. - 12:35 p.m.
