SpecificationsThe training methodology will be based on case studies and

must PROVIDE:

1. Cutting edge training material continuously updated and customized by target group

2. Clearly defined objectives with measurable results for individual self-monitoring and progress assessment

3. Teacher-student interaction, although students should be able to proceed at their own pace in a self-study environment

4. Dissemination to widely dispersed and not easily accessible target groups within project-partner countries

5. Consistent training methodology across partner countries and teachers, and across trainees of different age, educational background and culture

6. Permanent association of safety signs with respective risks and constant reminders of safe work practices for accident prevention

TRADITIONAL VS. MODERN LEARNING METHODOLOGIES

Students• more active learning

(through search)• must be directed to the

appropriate sources

Teachers• must keep up with the wealth of

available information and

• must guide effectively the students to the appropriate sources

• CHALLENGES– Transition to new

forms (e-books, presentations, online animated tutorials, etc)

– Slow adoption of new technologies

– Costs (Equipment & labor)

– Copyrights of legacy materials

• OPPORTUNITIES– New learning tool– Wealth of new & old

educational material (audiovisual & hard copy)

– Improved & Subject-specific knowledge (through email, chat rooms, online expert groups, etc)

– Wide and cost-effective knowledge distribution

Needs for safety training: Established by the answers to the questionnaires

Career outlook: They will be probably employed in a woodworking plant as a technician after receiving on the job training

Prospective Safety Role: Responsible for their own safety, and maybe for the safety of their colleagues in emergencies

Essential training/knowledge:

General knowledge of each of five subjects Learn to detect and obey at all times signs &

signboards related to their personal health and safety, and

Should become proficient in the language of signs & signals

Emphasis: Attitude training, i.e. imprinting of machinery/tool-independent safety awareness at the individual level

Needs for safety training: Established by the answers to the questionnaires

Career outlook: Employed in a woodworking facility probably as a specialized worker, technician, etc. Work under high pressure as their skills are vital for the operation of complicated machines, and production might depend on them. As such, they may become bored at times due to repeated use of tools, drifting attention, repetitive eye and/or body movements, etc.

Prospective Safety Role: Responsible for themselves, and maybe for their colleagues in emergencies

Essential training/knowledge:

Receive broad knowledge of all five subjects, with perhaps lesser importance on legislation

Emphasis: Frequent training on:• Risk factors• Personal protective equipment• Signs and signals
