Being Healthy is balancing a multiplicity of complementary and opposing dynamics. No organ shows this more eminently than the Kidney! Home of the Astral Body in the metabolism, the Kidneys are the doorway through which the Astral Body shines living light through the body. This supports the sleeping and wakefulness of the sensory nervous system; the rhythmical movements of the lungs, urinary bladder and the heart; the anabolic and catabolic activity of the liver and gall bladder; and the organs of reproduction, as well as other systems of the body. Psychological health and illness also relate directly to organ systems, manifesting in the soul the supersensible aspects of organ

health and pathology. What are the presenting signs and symptoms, in the body and in the psyche, that show when it is the Kidneys calling out for support? To open this workshop, Alan Thewless will tell a Fairy Tale depicting Kidney qualities and introduce us to the being and influences of Venus. Margaret Kerndt will then lead an exploration of the planetary gestures in relation to the patterns Venus forms both in the sky and in us. We will also do Eurythmy Exercises that reflect sounds and forms that remind the Kidneys of their inherent function. On Saturday and Sunday, Dr. James Dyson will lead us along the convoluted pathways of the Kidneys and the Astral Body to a fundamental understanding of the common signature to their diverse activities and manifestations in the body and the life of soul. Embryology and physiology will give a primary basis for understanding. Leading images from planetary influences and from myth and fairy tale will be guides in understanding the deeper mystery of the Kidneys in the individual quest we each embark on in earthly life towards becoming more fully human. As a multi-disciplinary workshop we will consider together the caring and healing principles and practices of Anthroposophic Medicine, Anthroposophic Nursing and Rhythmical Massage Therapy that support healthy balance of the Kidneys and the Astral Body.
