La Implantología oral es una técnica que se ha convertido en los últimos años, en predecible, simplificada y segura. Este tratamiento es cada vez más solicitado por los mismos pacientes y para nosotros los especialistas es muchas veces el tratamiento más idóneo.

Los implantes dentales son un sustituto artificial que nos va a servir como raíz de un diente ausente. Tras un periodo para que se fije al hueso (oseointegración) servirá de anclaje para un diente nuevo, esto toma un tiempo entre los 2 a 6 meses.

En los ultimos anos, los implantes dentales pasaron a hacer parte de la odontología clínica restauradora como una importante alternativa de tratamiento en la ausencia de los dientes naturales. Este hecho provoco un gran cambio en el planeamiento y en la secuencia de tratamiento de cualquier rehabilitación oral, ofreciendo innumerables oportunidades y posibilidades tanto en la ausencia de un solo diente como en la de todos o varios dientes. En la odontología actual me parece imposible desconsiderar la posibilidad de indicar los implantes dentales. Incluso en los casos de dientes con grandes lesiones, con compromiso del soporte periodontal, se debe analizar cuidadosamente la validez de su mantenimiento. Dependiendo del pronostico a corto plazo, osea 5 años, la solución a través de la sustitución de los dientes por implantes dentales es frecuentemente mas barata, mas rápida y mas duradera.

Es obligación del especialista presentar y discutir con el paciente las diferentes posibilidades restauradoras que son aplicables en cada caso. Al asumir una postura preventiva se puede, utilizando los implantes dentales, evitar la preparación de dientes naturales, garantizando menos daño, menor riesgo de sobrecarga de los dientes remanentes y mejor pronostico a largo plazo. Ademas de eso, el especialista en implatología oral debe siempre decidirse por el planeamiento de mayor durabilidad.

Con frecuencia las soluciones con implantes dentales son muy superiores en lo que se refiere a la función, comodidad y estética cuando son comparados a los resultados obtenidos por los métodos convencionales, esto confirmado en innumerables estudios multicéntricos.

El especialista debe hacer una minuciosa evaluación clínica de aspectos muy importantes, para ver si el paciente es o no candidato para la terapia con implantes dentales, como por ejemplo las enfermedades sistémicas del paciente, si es hipertenso, diabético, el volumen del hueso, si es o no fumador, importante determinar si es alcohólico, si padece de enfermedad periodontal. Cada caso debe ser evaluado previo al tratamiento con los implantes.

VENTAJAS: Las ventajas que ofrecen los implantes dentales son muchas, dentro de las que podemos citar es que mejoran el aspecto, ya que cuando se pierden los dientes, los huesos de la cara pierden volumen dando al rostro un aspecto envejecido. Los implantes dentales frenan este proceso,

y tienen el aspecto y función de los dientes naturales. Mayor comodidad, ya que los implantes dentales evitan en gran medida la incomodidad de las prótesis removibles parciales y totales, ya que ellas se apoyan sobre las encías y el hueso de los maxilares. Con el paso del tiempo se produce una reducción del hueso y altera el ajuste de la misma con perdida de estabilidad. Ademas de la incomodidad se produce irritación de la encía. Los implantes dentales evitan la irritación de las encías y las molestias habituales con las prótesis removibles o totales mal ajustadas. Mejora el habla ya que permite que el paciente pueda hablar con mas confianza y de una manera mas natural. Permiten comer mejor, ya que los pacientes con prótesis totales en el mejor de los casos comen con solo un 15-20% de eficacia mastiactoria respecto a las personas con dientes naturales. Con el paso del tiempo el hueso de los maxilares se reduce, la eficacia masticatoria se reduce aun mas, lo que hace difícil comer ciertos alimentos. Los implantes dentales pueden restaurar la eficacia masticatoria hasta un nivel similar a los dientes naturales y podrá disfrutar de la comida. Dan mayor seguridad ya que los pacientes no necesitaran taparse la boca para reír o sonreír, por miedo a que su dentadura pueda caer de la boca o enseñar el espacio de un diente ausente, mejorando en gran manera su seguridad y la confianza en su aspecto. Los implantes dentales eliminan la necesidad de modificar o desgastar dientes sanos, dando como resultado una restauración mas conservadora y estética.

Cualquier persona que haya perdido uno o varios dientes se puede beneficiar con los implantes, ya sea por lesión, enfermedad o caries puede ser un candidato para la terapia con implantes dentales siempre y cuando conserve una cantidad de hueso

suficiente y encía sana. Tanto si falta uno como si faltan todos, existen soluciones con implantes que pueden ser satisfactorias, recuperando la función y evitando una mayor perdida de hueso. Algunas personas creen que su edad es un impedimento para disfrutar de las ventajas de los implantes dentales. Sin embargo, la salud es el factor mas importante, si la tiene para una extracción dental, probablemente la tendrá para que coloquen implantes dentales.

CONTRAINDICACIONES:Algunas enfermedades crónicas pueden contraindicar el tratamiento con implantes dentales. Tras una cuidadosa evolución de su historial medico y dental, el especialista decidirá si usted es un candidato para implantes.

Las investigaciones han demostrado que el éxito de los implantes dentales han alcanzado un porcentaje de éxito de mas del 95% en estudios múltiples.

CUIDADOS:Es importante resaltar que al igual que con los dientes naturales, una buena higiene oral es uno de los factores mas importantes para su conservación. Importante realizar revisiones periódicas para valorar la salud de los implantes y de la encía.

In the year 2010, two Costa Rican enterprises, each a pioneer in its own field, merged to develop a professionalized air ambulance program: (1) Servicios Médicos Intensivos (SMI), was accredited by the American Heart Association as an international center for emergency and revival training since 2006, and presently coordinated with CIMA Hospital’s emergency service, and (2) AeroBell Charter Flights, pioneers in medical transport throughout Costa Rica and Central America, operating a fleet of planes and helicopters very well adapted to our varied terrain, and which are continuously upgraded.

These two firms merged to form MMS Medical, their common goal to professionalize medical air transportation with leading edge human and technical resources, biomedical and aeronautical. MMS Medical is an integrated system of health services, structured for a rapid response to the needs of our clients for the highest quality of efficient, responsible and effective services, continually optimized

for logistics, commercial operations and price/service ratio. To attain these objectives while broadening the scope of customary requirements, we have acquired an incubator and ventilator for neonatal transport, as well as portable ultrasound for all flights, a vital element in accident rescue of traumatized patients, this latter to stabilize the patient and coordinate faster reception at the receiving hospital.

On each MMS Medical flight, a physician specialized in emergencies –or a pediatrician and a respiratory therapist, should they be required, as well as a professional nurse, will be aboard. On helicopter flights, a doctor and, occupancy permitting, a male nurse will be aboard, thus bringing our air ambulance service to a world class level. Our responsibility does not end until our patient and relatives have safely arrived to their chosen destination. To that end, MMS Medical operates its own aircraft and well-equipped support ambulances.

The Canopy: 11 platforms and 10 cables, gliding

through the top of the trees of the semi-humid

tropical forest enjoying the adrenaline to the

maximum. While the visitor is traveling on the top

of the trees it can enjoy a diversity of flora and

fauna as birds and howler, spider, and, white faced

capuchin monkeys.

The hanging bridges it is the best choice to enjoy

the tranquillity of a primary forest with a maximum

height of 20 meters, along this tour the visitor will

find 16 bridges and it takes approximately one hour

to walk through all of them.

Thermal waters: 5 rustic thermal pools that come

from a spring of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano; with

different types of temperatures, sauna and volcanic

mud in a primary forest. Located 3 kms from the

hotel, the visitor can get there horseback riding and

it takes 45 minutes, on a tractor it takes 25 minutes

and it can enjoy the forest and its surroundings, and

walking it takes 1 hour through trails and rivers. This

place offers cafeteria service.

Three waterfalls: this is a tour through the forest

and the diversity of flora and fauna. Three beautiful

waterfalls, the first one is sulphurous, the second

form a small slide of natural water and the visitors

can swim in it, and the third one is the biggest one

of them. This tour can be done horseback riding and

it takes 31/2 hours or walking it takes 41/2 hours,

but a good physical condition is required.

The water slide: Enjoy this totally refreshing

experience with your family sliding down the

longest mountain water slide; 400 meters of pure

adventure and excitement in the middle of the

Tropical Forest. This is done with all the necessary

security equipment. Sustainable Organic Tour: As part of an environmentally friendly program, our hotel is producing methane gas to cook daily meals, using fruits and vegetables produced in an organic farm free of pesticides, only applying natural fertilizers. Also 90% of personal care products used in the hotel is produced in an organic way, as well as cleaning products.
