Low brass at UNG has experienced incredible growth in the last two years growing from 3 to 25 students across trombone, euphonium, and tuba instruction. Dr. Adam Frey was hired in August 2016 and in 2017, Mr. Phil Truex was added to the low brass faculty due to the expansive growth. The UNG Low Brass Collective was created and presents more than 10 concerts a year around campus and in area schools. The group has received university funding to travel to perform at regional tuba euphonium conferences. UNG also regularly hosts world class guest artists and teachers such as: James Gourlay, Mark Jenkins (US Marine Band), Adam Lessard (US Army Band), Aubrey Foard, Tom Holtz (US Marine Band), The US Army Brass Quintet, The Israel Tuba Duo, Justin Benavidez, and musicians from the Charlotte and Knoxville Symphony Orchestras.

Scholarship OpportunitiesMusic scholarships are available to outstanding students who declare a major in music or who commit to substantial participation in the activities of the music programs.

CUARTETO DE EUFONIOS DE TOCANCIPÁ(TOCANCIPÁ EUPHONIUM QUARTET)

The Tocancipá Euphonium Quartet was started by an initiative of the teacher John Fernando Laverde in which he works as an euphonium trainer in the School of Artistic Training of Tocancipá (EFAT Acronym In Spanish) starting the trials in the month of November of the year 2017, This group was created in order to make known the euphonium in our country and create opportunities for the practice of euphonium in other formats such as chamber music. From this

moment begins the presentations and representations of the municipality in different programs and concerts, being one of the most outstanding in the month of May 2018 where I participated as host at the euphonium festival of Tocancipá in which the guest teacher was Adam Frey. The Tocancipá Euphonium Quartet made up of John Fernando Laverde graduated from the National University of Colombia (director of the quartet), Diego Matiz León fourth semester student of the National University of Colombia, Camilo Pineda Martínez student of the first semester of the Universidad Javeriana and Javier Mahecha Roldan Sixth semester student of the University of Cundinamarca of Colombia. All members of this group are part of the Tocancipá Symphonic Band. His representations as a chamber group reveal a friendship between colleagues with the sole purpose of making the music of different regions of our country known.
