Answer:Yes, edits to patient attributes can be completed in a users corporate system and then submitted to CROWNWeb via EDI. Users should verify the information has been properly updated in CROWNWeb via the SUI.

Question: Can EDI submitted data be corrected via the SUI?
Answer: Yes, a dialysis facility who uses the EDI process to submit CROWNWeb information can manually update patient information via the CROWNWeb SUI. It is recommended that the facility verify that the information is correct in their corporate system firstas to not create an error or overwrite.

– Patient events such as admission and discharges can be completed in Corporate systems
• Most of the required information on the 2728 and 2746 forms are entered with the event information
– EDI facilities only have a small amount of verification and data entry to complete in the SUI
• Example: Patient signature date; Physician signature date, and Submission

CMS Form Submissions:EDI and SUI
• Admission and Discharge Events can be completed by both the EDI and SUI processes
– EDI will input the information into CROWNWeb on the facilities’ behalf via the Corporate System
– SUI requires users to enter the information directly in CROWNWeb
• Guidelines for submission of data in CROWNWeb are within 5 days of an event (admission or discharge)

Admit/Discharge Reminder
• Notifications– A discrepancy in patient data between a CMS database
and CROWNWeb– There are two types of Notifications
• Patient identifiers: (such as Date of Birth) will be automatically updated in the patients CROWNWeb record when the alert is accepted
• Treatment data: (such as Transplant event) must be manually updated in the patients CROWNWeb record when the alert is accepted
• Accretion– An ESRD patient identified in another CMS database
and is not admitted into a facility in CROWNWeb• Accepting the Alert, CROWNWeb will guide the user

What is a Notification and Accretion Alert?
• Notification and Accretion Alerts can only by completed through the Single User Interface– You must login to CROWNWeb in order to complete this task

• Accept– You agree with the Notification or Accretion alert and the
patient will be updated or admitted in CROWNWeb• Reject
– You don’t agree with the Notification or Accretion alert and no changes are being made in CROWNWeb
• Investigate– Informs other users (at your facility or Network) that the
alert is being looked into• Escalate
– You need assistance as the patient is not part of your facility or require your local ESRD Networks help with determination
– Using Escalate will re-assign the Alert to your ESRD Network
