District
Bowling Green Ky Jan 4
Judge John M Galloway and Nat THoward were this morning sworn in
as Circuit Judge and CommonwealthsAttorney respectively of the Eighth
Judicial District This Is the first
time a Republican has ever held theoffice of Circuit Judge in this districtand quite a crowd of visitors attended
the ceremonies
Judge Galloways charge to thegrand jury was a masterly presentatlon of the existing evils and he isbeing widely commented upon forfearlessness and earnestness of pur ¬
pose He was especially severe on Jviolators of the election law and de ¬
plored the fact that Warren countyhad achieved almost as much noto ¬
riety for violations of the electionlaws as Breathiett county for mur¬
derHecharged the jury to look well
into the recent election and to pun ¬
ish every man guilty of trying to de ¬
bauch tbeballot-This part of the charge created
considerable comment in view of thefact that former judge Brandburnwho is contesting Judge Gallowaysseatand who claims fraud in the elec ¬
tion tailed to utter a word aboutelection frauds in his charge to thegrand jury immediately after theelection although it was his duty todO gt
This is a very important session of
the Warren Circuit Court as threemurder cues are to be tried as wellas a number of felony and minor of¬
fensesJudge Galloway is one of the oldeat
and most respected members of thebar and received a hearty and cordialreception this morning upon assumhit position as judge-
