Howard were this morning sworn in as Circuit Judge and Commonwealths Attorney respectively of the Eighth Judicial District This Is the first time a Republican has ever held the office of Circuit Judge in this district and quite a crowd of visitors attended the ceremonies Judge Galloways charge to the grand jury was a masterly presenta tlon of the existing evils and he is being widely commented upon for fearlessness and earnestness of pur ¬ pose He was especially severe on J violators of the election law and de ¬ plored the fact that Warren county had achieved almost as much noto ¬ riety for violations of the election laws as Breathiett county for mur ¬ derHe charged the jury to look well into the recent election and to pun ¬ ish every man guilty of trying to de ¬ bauch tbeballot- This part of the charge created considerable comment in view of the fact that former judge Brandburn who is contesting Judge Galloways seatand who claims fraud in the elec ¬ tion tailed to utter a word Harrison Peach who was charged with the murder of Bud Clark and under bond for his appearance at the f term of Ohio Circuit Court has skipped the country During Christmas Peach got on one of his bid time drunks aud when Marsha Clark attempted to arrest a young man by the name of Allen for disorderly conduct Peach interfered whereupon the Marshal placed Peach in the lockup Peach soon became tired of his location and set fire to the lockup on the inside which resulted in a severe smoking for him When was released from the lockup he pretended to be almost suflocated A guard was placed over him and at a moment when the guard was not looking he jumped up and ran away The next morning Peach showed in town and was arrested on a warrant of attempted orson and hand- cuffed ¬ and started to Ohio county jail I by Deputy Marshal Thos Bryant When about two miles from town Peach shoved Marshal Bryant out oi the buggy and escaped He remained in the neighborhood few days until his friends could get
