Mission Statement The Georgia Contractor is published bi-monthly for the members of theconstruction trade associations and the construction industry of Georgia in amanner that promotes their interests. The Georgia Contractor providesinformation on topics of interest to our industry. The editorial content focuseson equipment, materials and supplies as well as distribution. Also covered arelegislative matters, education, emerging technologies, communications, thelaw and legal matters, computer software development, domestic andinternational business opportunities, finance and accounting, as well as topicsof concern to the A/E/C industry as a whole, such as LEED developments andthe environment. It is the purpose and intent of this magazine to cover thecomplete spectrum of the construction industry.

The Georgia Contractor maintains a regular feature on “What’s News,”i.e. current events in our industry, personnel changes, new corporateintroductions, new products, and all that is of interest to our industry.Government and legislative affairs are regular features as they pertain to ourindustry.
Each issue will emphasize one specific subject as indicated below,however, there are many other subjects that are relevant and informative to ourreadership, such as education, careers in construction, and future leadershipissues, transportation funding, etc. which will also be reported on.
January/February Economic Outlook An extensive review by well known economist will start off the year. It is aneagerly awaited issue as we all like to get a flavor for what might be coming our way in the coming year. Inflation guide, commercial construction andresidential construction trends will be discussed, but so will funding andconstruction activities in the area of transportation and infrastructure.
March/April TransportationCommuters and drivers look forward to this issue in the hopes that t here willbe better days to come. One key issue, funding, will be discussed in detailfrom both the local and federal angles. Articles will include reviews by ARTBA executives in Washington, by local transportation associations,MARTA, ARC, GRTA, GDOT, and many more.
May/June Equipment & TechnologyIn this issue, we will discuss the innovations in both vertical and horizontalconstruction. We expect that highway and commuter-related equipment willundergo significant changes in the coming months. The articles in this issue will help our readers get a feel for what the market is looking for: efficiencies,cost-savings, new materials, and LEED-related products.
July/August Utilities & InfrastructureThis is a report on underground utility construction—from water and sewersystems to fiber optic line installations. We will also look at electrical powergeneration and its range of new technologies: coal, natural gas, ocean-wave,
wind, water, and other sustainable sources o f energy.
September/October Sustainable Construction & MaterialsIn this issue, we focus on how business is being conducted in construction,the challenges that we face everyday, and the particular rewards to be gained with certain strategies. Some particular aspects of doing business that will becovered are: subcontractor relations, immigration issues, language barriers,ownership questions, tax discussions, contract interpretations andapproaches to dispute avoidance.
November/December Workforce Development & Management What is happening to Georgia’s vital and complicated infrastructure? Whatare the improvements being made to construction methods and maintenancestrategies? Where are we going with increasing public need in the nearfuture? We’ll take a look at possible trends in infrastructure solutions for agrowing population—some conventional, and some altogether new.
The topics listed above will be pivotal to each issue, but current events in our industry capture a part of each issue as well. We endeavor to bring you, as always,
