The Feast of Divine Mercy
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
Hymn: O Salutaris Hostia
Latin
O salutaris Hostia,
Quae caeli pandis ostium:
Bella premunt hostilia,
Da robur, fer auxilium.
Uni trinoque Domino
Sit sempiterna gloria,
Qui vitam sine termino
Nobis donet in patria.
Amen.
English
O saving Victim, opening wide,
The gate of heav’n to us below!
2
Our foes press on from ev’ry side;
Your aid supply, your strength bestow.
To your great name be endless praise,
Immortal Godhead, One in Three;
O grant us endless length of days,
In our true native land with Thee. Amen
Silent Reflections (from the Diary of St. Faustina)
I have opened My Heart as a living fountain of mercy. Let all souls draw life from it. Let
them approach this sea of mercy with great trust. (1520)
On the cross, the fountain of My mercy was opened wide by the lance for all souls – no one
have I excluded! (1182)
The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is – trust. The
more a soul trusts, the more it will receive. (1578)
I never reject a contrite heart. (1485) Sooner would heaven and earth turn into nothingness
than would My mercy not embrace a trusting soul. (1777)
I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches me with trust, I fill it with such an
abundance of graces that it cannot contain them within itself, but radiates them to other
souls. (1074)
Do whatever is within your power to spread devotion to My mercy. I will make up for what
you lack. Tell aching mankind to snuggle close to My merciful Heart; and I will fill it with
peace. (1074)
3
My Heart overflows with great mercy for souls, and especially for poor sinners. It is for
them that the Blood and Water flowed from My Heart as from a fount overflowing with Mer-
cy. (367)
Reflections on the Feast of Divine Mercy
The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be
solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it
turns to the Fount of my Mercy. (699)
I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor
sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean
of graces upon those souls who approach the fountain of My mercy. (699)
I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls who will go to Confession and receive Holy
Communion on the Feast of My Mercy. (1109) Whoever approaches the Fountain of Life on
this day will be granted complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. (300)
The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete for-
giveness of sins and punishment. On that day are opened all the divine floodgates through
which graces flow. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet.
(699)
My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it
throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come from the very depths of my most
tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy through-
out eternity. (699)
My mercy is greater than your sins, and those of the entire world. I let my Sacred Heart be
pierced with a lance, thus opening wide the source of mercy for you. Come then with trust
to draw graces from this fountain. (1485)
Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces
than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My com-
passion. (1146)
4
Beg for mercy for the whole world. (570) No soul that has called upon My mercy has ever
been disappointed. (1541)
Yes, the first Sunday after Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there must also be acts of mercy.
I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show
mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to
excuse or absolve yourself from it. (742)
The Hour of Great Mercy
“At three o’clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment,
immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of ago-
ny.” (1320)
“This is the hour of great mercy for the whole world. I will refuse nothing to the soul that
makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion.” (1320)
Let us pray …

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy
Opening Prayers:
You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for
the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty
Yourself out upon us. (1319)
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in
You. (3 times) (84)
Our Father; Hail Mary; Apostles’ Creed
Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved
Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
(3 times)
Closing Prayer:
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly up-
on us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become
despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy
itself. (950)
ALL: Jesus, I trust in You! (3x)

Prayer for Divine Mercy
O Greatly Merciful God, Infinite Goodness, today all mankind calls out from the abyss of its misery
to Your mercy – to Your compassion, O God; and it is with its mighty voice of misery that it cries
out. Gracious God, do not reject the prayer of this earth’s exiles!
8
O Lord, Goodness beyond our understanding, who are acquainted with our misery through and
through and know that by our own power we cannot ascend to You, we implore You, anticipate us
with Your grace and keep on increasing Your Mercy in us, that we may faithfully do Your Holy Will
all through our life and at death’s hour.
Let the omnipotence of Your mercy shield us from the darts of our salvation’s enemies, that we may
with confidence, as Your Children, await Your final coming – that day known to You alone.
And we expect to obtain everything promised us by Jesus in spite of all our wretchedness. For Jesus
is our Hope: through His merciful Heart, as through an open gate, we pass through to heaven.
(1570)
Amen.
Proclaim to the whole world My unfathomable mercy. (1142)
Proclaim that mercy is the greatest attribute of God. All the works of My hand are crowned
with mercy. (301)
Souls who spread the honor of My mercy I shield through their entire life as a tender mother
her infant, and at the hour of death I will not be a Judge for them, but the Merciful Savior.
(1075)
For the Grace to Be Merciful to Others
O Most Holy Trinity! As many times as I breathe, as many times as my heart beats, as many times as
my blood pulsates through my body, so many thousand times do I want to glorify Your mercy.
I want to be completely transformed into Your mercy and to be Your living reflection, O Lord. May the greatest of
all divine attributes, that of Your unfathomable mercy, pass through my heart and soul to my neigh-
bor.
Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful, so that I may never suspect or judge from appearanc-
es, but look for what is beautiful in my neighbors’ souls and come to their rescue.
9
Help me, that my ears may be merciful, so that I may give heed to my neighbors’ needs and not be
indifferent to their pains and moanings.
Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful and filled with good deeds, so that I may do only
good to my neighbors and take upon myself the more difficult and toilsome tasks.
Help me, that my feet may be merciful, so that I may hurry to assist my neighbor, overcoming my
own fatigue and weariness. My true rest is in the service of my neighbor.
Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful so that I myself may feel all the sufferings of my
neighbor. I will refuse my heart to no one. I will be sincere even with those who, I know, will abuse
my kindness. And I will lock myself up in the most merciful Heart of Jesus. I will bear my own suf-
fering in silence. May Your Mercy, O Lord, rest upon me.
You Yourself command me to exercise the three degrees of mercy.
The first: the act of mercy, of whatever kind.
The second: the word of mercy. If I cannot carry out a work of mercy, I will assist by my words.
The third: prayer. If I cannot show mercy by deeds or words, I can always do so by prayer. My pray-
er reaches out even there where I cannot reach out physically.
O my Jesus, transform me into Yourself, for You can do all things. (163)

Tantum Ergo (English)
Down in adoration falling,
This great sacrament we hail,
Over ancient forms of worship
Newer rites of grace prevail;
Faith will tell us Christ is present,
When our human senses fail
To the everlasting Father,
And the Son who made us free,
And the spirit, God proceeding
From them Each eternally,
Be salvation, honor, blessing,
Might and endless majesty. Amen

Closing Hymn: Holy God We Praise Thy Name
Holy God, we praise Thy Name;
Lord of all, we bow before Thee!
All on earth Thy scepter claim,
All in Heaven above adore Thee;
Infinite Thy vast domain,
Everlasting is Thy reign.
Hark! the loud celestial hymn
Angel choirs above are raising,
Cherubim and seraphim,
In unceasing chorus praising;
Fill the heavens with sweet accord:
Holy, holy, holy, Lord.
Holy Father, Holy Son,
Holy Spirit, Three we name Thee;
While in essence only One,
Undivided God we claim Thee;
And adoring bend the knee,
While we own the mystery.
