SituationThe Crest Lodge occupies a prime, private position on the edge of Haslemere, within easy reach of the town and mainline station. The town offers excellent shopping facilities for day-to-day needs, a choice of restaurants, pubs and coffee shops, with a tennis club and The Herons Leisure Centre. The mainline train station provides services into London Waterloo in approximately 56 minutes. More comprehensive shopping facilities are available in the towns of Godalming and Guildford, which are easily accessed via the A286 and the A3.

There is an exceptional choice of schools in the area including The Royal Senior School and St Ives in Haslemere, St Edmund’s, The Royal Junior School and Amesbury at Hindhead and Brookham and Highfield at Liphook. Other schools in the area include Charterhouse at Godalming, Barrow Hills and King Edward’s at Witley and Cranleigh School slightly further afield.

Communications are excellent, with London approximately 45 miles away and the A3 at Hindhead and Milford giving access to the south coast, the M25 and Gatwick, Heathrow and Southampton airports.

Sporting facilities include golf at Hindhead, Hankley Common, Liphook and Chiddingfold, racing at Goodwood and Fontwell, polo at Cowdray Park and sailing on Frensham Ponds and off the south coast at Chichester.

The Crest Lodge also has the benefit of being just a few moments away from Blackdown, an area of 965 acres of ancient woodland owned by the National Trust, which provides excellent walks and rides as well as sensational views over Surrey and West Sussex.

The Crest LodgeThe property is believed to have been built in 1924 by the Rhodes family who were prolific builders of substantial family houses in Haslemere at that time. The house enjoys a superb balance, being between the convenience of the town and mainline station, while enjoying a beautiful elevated rural position set in mature and well-established grounds. The views from the property are exceptional, and look north over the gardens and valley beyond, as well as in the distance towards the North Downs and Surrey Hills.

An imposing house, The Crest Lodge offers well-proportioned family

accommodation over three floors. The property has been much enhanced by the current owners, with the addition of a bespoke kitchen, new bathrooms and a stunning timber floor throughout the hallway, drawing and dining rooms. The property also benefits from beautiful timberwork throughout, as well as two beautiful old copper fireplaces which are original to the house and particular to the Arts and Crafts movement, prevalent when the property was built.

The accommodation is thoughtfully laid out, with the principal rooms making the most of the views to the rear over the surrounding sun terraces and countryside.

Gardens and GroundsThe Crest Lodge sits in well-established and private gardens and grounds. The property is entered via a gravelled driveway, providing parking for several cars, leading in turn to a detached double garage with loggia below. To the rear of the property, the gardens and grounds have been extensively terraced and offer a wide array of mature plants and shrubs as well as several ponds, connected by an ornamental stream.

To the rear of the gardens is a flat area of lawn, with a summer house providing an excellent outside entertaining space.
