Objectives:

• To learn about music of the Classical period

• More ordered and structured than the Baroque period, but also more expressive

• The Piano replaced the Harpsichord• Two important musical forms developed:-Symphony: A big orchestral piece divided into 4

contrasting sections-Sonata: A piece for a small number of

instruments also in 4 contrasting sections.• Operas continued to be very popular• The Orchestra became bigger
