Mac applied for a financial grant from Help for Heroes for a bike to assist in maintaining a regular fitness routine, which does not exacerbate his injuries. This summer his grant was awarded from David’s Fund through the QRF. “When my bike arrived it came with a note which told me it had been purchased using funds raised by Captain David Seath. Having heard of David’s story, I was incredibly touched to have been a beneficiary of his hard work and I will be delighted to put his name on my bike as a tribute to what David’s legacy has given me.” Mac “David believed passionately in supporting wounded Service Personnel and Veterans of the Armed Forces. David’s Fund provides an important positive focus for our family and we are delighted to know that it has already helped so many people in such a short space of time. We have heard directly from those it has helped and how in an instant their lives have changed for the better and it makes us feel very proud.” Gary Seath, David’s brother

Friends and family of Captain Seath undertook a tandem skydive at Netheravon Parachute Centre. Exiting the plane at the maximum 13,500ft, they experienced an exhilarating 50-second free fall at more than 120mph before canopies were deployed at 6000ft. The jump provided poignant views of Larkhill and Salisbury Plain where David completed young officer and artillery training and Tidworth, where he was based with 19th Regiment Royal Artillery.

It was organised by Major Pete Alexander who served with David in Afghanistan and was one of the skydiving instructors on the day.

“I wanted to organise an event that would challenge people, take them out of their comfort zone and learn something of the courage Captain Seath displayed in his day-to-day life as an Army Officer. The event was a resounding success and the biggest thank you must go to all who took part. They have raised an incredible amount of money to provide support to our Servicemen and women.”

His wife Lizzie, who also took to the skies added: “David was one of my husband’s best friends. I wanted to do something in his memory and help raise money for the Captain David Seath Memorial Fund. It was a fantastically sunny day, perfect weather and it was a privilege to spend the day with David’s family.”
