    Dear Parents, Caregivers and Friends,

    Tnkoe!

What a beautiful day weve had today however, there isno doubt that autumn is here on three mornings thisweek our wood burners were in action keeping classeswarm, additionally we are preparing for Michaelmas inwhich we celebrate the "festivalof strong will" during theautumnal equinox. Historically the Mori name forautumn was ngahuru, the traditional word for ten, because autumn started during the tenth month of theoriginal calendar.

Classes 9 and 5 will have both been challenged by theautumn weather while on camp this week. We lookforward to their safe return later this afternoon and willno doubt be regaled with anecdotes of horizontal rain, fabulous sunshine and tales of brilliant adventures.

Absolutely the best way to keep warm and forget thechangeable weather is kapa haka; Te Rpwill shortly beannouncing a start to a weekly group at Raphael House

that will be meeting on a Thursday evening. I amoverjoyed that this powerful art form will be living in ourkura. Get your poi ready whnau!

Many of you will have already heard that Margee, ourfriendly Office Manager, has found a new job at theMinistry of Health and will be leaving us on Friday, 28March. Id like to take the opportunity to thank her for allthat she has given to the school in her short time with us.In addition to this, Lay Lay, who has been unwell for

some time, will be leaving us. Very many thanks to LayLay for his commitment to the school, we wish him well in the future.

SPORTSRaphael House MTB Karapoti 2014On Saturday 1stMarch, 8 of our School MTB riders represented Raphael House atthe annual Karapoti Classic event.Tracks were fairly dry again this year and fast times were predicted. We were in thecompany of some top talent like Anton Cooper and Kim Hurst, which was veryinspirational.

For the 5km Race, Lachlann Mackie Year 6 rocketed across the finish line in a verycomfortable 1stPlace. Also enjoying the 5km race were Tayla Dunlop, and surpriseentries by Ella and Imogen Magnusson. New members Ella and Imogen did extremely

well, and Tayla improved her last year time immensely. Great stuff ladies.

Our 20km entries had a very smooth ride this year and all shared a great challenge.Scott Pearson (class 11) gained another Podium in U19 category of 2ndplace,awesome results for Scott after just coming back from camp.

We arelooking for more play materials in the Lower School, especially decent lengths of driftwood that can be used for hut building and other play but are not too heavy or thickfor young arms to handle. If you or a group of families wish to take on this initiative,
