Positive Behaviour for Learning Spotlight
We welcomed our students back to school today after a busy start for staff
yesterday. We have yet another exciting term ahead with plenty of
opportunities for students to learn and shine.
Yesterday staff members worked on preparing our school’s documentation
that will be externally validated early in term 4. All schools across the state
have external validation at least once over a five year period.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
What a fabulous day we had on the last Wednesday of term two. The
weather was perfect and the students were wonderful. It was great to see
the students competing with great sportsmanship in the heats and finals.
Students were awesome with cheering their fellow peers on and having fun
in the extra activities organised for the day. It was great to see the large
number of parents and community members supporting the day and a
special thank you to the P&C for organising the BBQ. Notes will come
home later this week to the students that have qualified for the District
Carnival to be held in Bega on Friday,16 August.
NAIDOC TREE
What a lovely way to conclude term two. The students led by Mrs Loughran
with Gordon and Steve’s guidance created a tree which is displayed in the
front foyer. The tree represented all of us working together as a part of this
year’s NAIDOC week. The assembly was awesome and it was great to
have Noah open in Dhurga language as well as other students using this
language for the Welcome to Country, singing of songs and other spoken
aspects of the assembly. Thank you to Steve and Gordon who have started
teaching our students one of our local Yuin languages as it becomes a part
of our school assemblies.
Y-PEP CHILD PROTECTION EDUCATION PROGRAM
Each year as part of the PDHPE (Personal Development, Health &
Physical Education) syllabus, students participate in Child Protection
lessons. This year, the school is using the Y-PEP Child Protection
Education Program which is aligned to the NESA PDHPE Syllabus.
Notes were sent home about the program last term and you only needed to
return a note if you wanted to opt out of the lessons. Lessons will begin this
week.
STATE CROSS COUNTRY
Good luck to Sam G as he attends the State Cross Country in Sydney this
Friday. Sam has trained extremely hard and it is an outstanding
achievement to qualify at this level. The school looks forward to hearing
how Sam goes against the best runners in New South Wales. Good Luck
Sam.

P&C NEWS
I hope you've had a fun refreshing holiday, our family definitely did!
On the middle weekend of the holidays we had a P&C disco. We had
108 kids and we raised $540! It was such a fun night filled with dancing
and prizes.
A big thank you to all our P&C volunteers and also to all the parents
that stayed and had a fun night watching the kids dance up a storm!
We did have a bit of a disco light issue.... Thanks to Steve for rescuing
us with your Xmas laser lights! They were better than nothing!
Greg from the BP provided us with his equipment for the DJ as usual
and Kurtis M kept the beats pumping. Greg realised his light was broken
at the last minute and he kindly offered to buy another one even though
he provides his equipment to us for free. Thanks Greg Atlee for your
community spirit!
We have decided to spend some of the money raised on a new disco
light for our future discos!
I hope everyone has a great start to the term.Esme Markwort
