A&E PREMIERES thE oRIgInAl ScRIPtEd dRAMA SERIES thE BEASt.

Starring Patrick Swayze and travis Fimmel, thE BEASt centers on an unorthodox but effective FBI veteran, charles Barker (Swayze), who takes on rookie partner Ellis dove (Fimmel) to train in his hard-edged and psychologically clever style of agenting. In the premiere episode, the mischievous Barker hazes Dove as they go undercover on their first case to infiltrate a weapons smuggling ring. Barker brilliantly manipulates situations, constant-ly tests his new partner’s abilities

and pushes him to delve deeper into the roles of the undercover characters he creates. Although Dove takes a liking to Barker, the new job takes its toll on him. The stress and danger of being an agent quickly make him realize that he can no longer maintain normal relationships outside of work. Yet that’s not the worst of it. The rookie is confronted with a larger challenge: an FBI Internal Affairs team feels Barker may have gone rogue and tries to enlist Dove as a double-agent in the bu-reau’s investigation of his mentor.

The Beast is executive produced by Allan Loeb and Steven Pearl for Scarlet Fire Films and Cory Concoff for Fuel Filmworks. John Romano (Third Watch) will serve as the showrunner and execu-

tive producer. The pilot script was written by William Rotko (Breach) and Vincent Angell (Stand By Love). For the pilot, Rotko & Angell served as co-executive producers and for the series they are execu-tive producers. Michael Dinner (Grey’s Anatomy) directed and is executive producer. He continues to serve as a consulting producer on the series. The Beast is pro-duced by Sony Pictures Television for A&E Network.

PAtRIcK SWAYZEas Charles Barker

A veteran FBI agent, Barker is an expert at going undercover, gain-ing the confidence of criminals, and setting them up for a long hard fall in prison. As skilledan actor as he is a cop, Barker has a rookie agent under his wing, Ellis Dove, and serves as his act-ing coach, trainer, mentor, and surrogate father – only Barkerdoesn’t really have the patience for any of these roles, and his relationship with Ellis is a blud-geoning one. An apparent patriot whose loyalty should go unques-tioned, Barker is a little too tricky to be appreciated, and his superi-ors think he has been seduced by the dark side.

tRAVIS FIMMElas Ellis Dove

Ellis is a rookie FBI agent and Charles Barker’s trainee in the

undercover trade. under intense pressure from Barker to become a chameleon, Ellis never

knows when Barker will send him on some impossible little test or on-

the-spot improv that may or maynot cost him his life.

Stressed, tense, and under impos-sible performance pressure,

Ellis needs a break. Adding to the pressure, however, is

an Internal Affairs team thatis trying to recruit Ellis to spy on his mentor Barker, whom they feel has

gone rogue.

Barker and Ellis are assigned to take down a major drug trafficking ring

run by a man named Jimmy Casserly – who happens to be in the Chicago Police Department’s (CPD) custody.

Barker fears that if Casserly stays in CPD custody, his drug deal won’t go

through and they won’t have enough evidence to lock him up for good.

The partners come up with a risky scheme to bust Casserly out of CPDcustody and all is going well until a

major wrench is thrown in the gears – an ex cop with a personal vendetta

is also chasing Casserly.

Meanwhile, Ellis continues to burn the candle at both ends. He runs

into Rose and she questions what he does for a living, and Ray from

Internal Affairs tries to convince him that Barker is crooked by giving him a

DVD with supposed evidenceagainst his mentor.
