3Many native regionsThey are a few habitats in Australia that the Bearded Dragon is native to, which is mainly grasslands, woodlands, savannahs, and deserts.

What changes have occurred and why did they change Scientists and people began to wonder about this beautiful spikey creature, because it has a funny behavior. Such as, when it gets scared or threatened then it flattens its self then puffs out its throat which is rowed with spikes.People began to research this creature because its not like other reptiles even compared to the spike devil its a very amazing or exotic reptile.10Inventions or discoveriesBio-scannerInsulinsunlight is the source of energy in photosynthesisVaccinationABOblood types in humans penicillinmolecular structure of DNAbreak the genetic code of DNAand messenger RNA.

11Requirements for good health and habitat.A bearded dragon MUST have a wide cage rather than a terrarium. When they are small then its okay to have a 20 gallon tank, but when they are an adult they require at least a 40 gallon tank.Usually you see sand in peoples tank even though its not required. When they are babies its not good to have sand because they can not handle the impaction digestion.

12Previous slide continuedThey need an ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT, which mimics the sun, this helps them digest food even though it makes them hungry.A thermometer is good to have on your warm side of the tank and on the cool side. Usually people put the temperature at 80F on the cool side, if any colder they can become sick. But you should not go above 115F.It is also recommended to put a heating pad underneath the tank so when the light is off there will still be heat in the tank.

13Items that you can put in and around the tank!!!Thermometer (temp. check) (inside)Heater bulbs (all over heat) (inside) UV ultraviolet light (Health) (inside)Bark (substrate) (inside)Plastic turf (substrate) (inside)Sand (substrate) (inside)(14in.long min.) 14Self defense & scaring techniques Flattens its body.Puffs out its throat that is rowed with spikes.HissesEven if they seem like they show no fear if they are repeatedly scared they could become very sick and could very well die.15Creating a natural habitatCreating a natural habitat is easy If you know what your doing. Try your best to create a desert like environment with heat and coloration and decoration.Like sand colored rocks, and less spiny cactus, and pretty much anything else you would find in desert. You can only use sand when they are at least 14 inches long.16Taking care of your bearded dragonThe easiest thing about them is that they are omnivores so they eat meat and plants but its important to stay away from certain fruits and veggies. The main thing people feed them are crickets, mealworms, and pinkies. Its a good idea to spray their cage with water and they will sometimes drink the water but do it to keep the cage moist. Taking care of your bearded dragon continuedWhen they are young usually feed them every day so to lower the cost get a plastic container or tank and put straw and a water bowl and cardboard toilet paper holders, you may also feed the crickets fish food to breed crickets.Bearded dragon foodInsects include, crickets, grasshoppers, mealworms, earthworms, super worms, silk worms. Greens include, turnip greens, collard greens, mustard greens, spinach, kale, chard, chicory, escarole, Boston lettuce. Other veggies and fruits (occasionally in small pieces) include, grated carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, apples, pears, bananas, grapes, oranges, cooked potatoes, peas, beans, strawberries, melon.Dont ignore your petIt is important to spend time with your pet and here is a numbered list of whyThey are animals who love attentionThey cant sit in their cage all the time. They need exercise because of their food.

The proper way to pick them upA lot of people dont pick their reptiles up correctly, and sometimes it hurts them. So its important to pick them up correctly and heres howYou could gently put your hand under their belly and support their tail.Because if you pick them up by their, head, tail, arms or legs you can seriously hurt your pet.Signs of sicknessIf it doesnt act like it normally does.If its not eating as much as it did before. If its feces looks different from usual. If its skin looks different besides shedding.Or if you see a cut. Normal behaviorThey eat pretty much anything you put in front of them. They might scratch at the glass when they want out. They hiss when they are scared or threatened.Puff out their beard when they are scared or threatened.Different types of Bearded dragonsRegular bearded dragonCentral bearded dragon Frilled bearded dragonA few techniques used by the bearded dragonsPutting food in their beard to save food for a while.Scratch at the tank when they want out.Eat their skin when they shed it believe it or not its actually good for them.Puffs out its beard when it feels threatened of scared.Facts and InformationThey grow to be at least 20 inches long.Babies cant handle the impaction process caused by sand. They love worms and crickets and grasshoppers. The males will most likely attack the females.Bearded dragon featuresSpikesLong clawsPouchEyes on the sides of their head.

Lizards are a good petLizards are a good pet. They are easy to take care of. These beautiful creatures do require a lot of attention. Otherwise they make no noise unless threatened or scared. They dont smell bad. Cleaning their cage is easy. They love to play they could sit right their on your shoulder without you having to worry about them doing something they shouldnt.InformationA bearded dragon is a lizard. Bearded dragons thermo regulate in the sun. Which means they get to hot then they go to cool shade or side. Then they get to cool and go back to their hot side or sun. This is why they require UV (ultraviolet) rays to give them vitamins they dont get from bugs and to keep them warm.Impaction DigestionImpaction can be caused by your substrate or food.Calci- sand Incorrect temperature for digestion.Play sandFood that doesnt move properly through their digestive track.

Signs of impactionWill stop going to the bathroom regularly.Bowel movement not in a couple days.Hind legs will tend to drag.Partial paralysis Bump or lump on their back

Fun informationThey are fun to watch eat. They are amusingThey are loving reptiles. They love having attention. They are a very cool pet to have.Communication Bearded dragons have a few ways to communicate and heres how they do itChanging their color.Different movements.Hissing (mainly at humans) Changing body shape.End credits THANKS FOR WATCHING MY POWER POINT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ms. Hutchisons science class2011-2012A very good power point for a very great rocking science teacher Thanks Ms. Hutchison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
