The UQ Alumnus of the Year Award recognises and honours the achievements of outstanding graduates of The University of Queensland who have achieved distinction in their chosen field.
The AwardThe UQ Alumnus of the Year should be a person whose distinguished achievements have brought national and/or international recognition to The University of Queensland and in whose development The University of Queensland has had a significant role.
All graduates of The University of Queensland are eligible for nomination. Consideration is given to two key criteria:
Undergraduate or postgraduate academic record at The University of Queensland – including all degrees and diplomas (including level of award where applicable), and details of significant prizes and/or scholarships (including the award of a University Medal, if applicable); and
Distinguished career – relevant evidence may include positions held, overall career achievements, and/or national and international awards, community service recognised by Australian, international or other honours. Priority is given to those active in their chosen field within the private and public sectors.

Criteria/Eligibility
To be eligible for this year’s award, nominations must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Undergraduate or postgraduate academic record at The University of Queensland – including all degrees and diplomas (including level of award where applicable), and details of significant prizes and/or scholarships (including the award of a University Medal, if applicable); and
2. Distinguished career – relevant evidence may include positions held, overall career achievements, and/or national and international awards, community service recognised by Australian, international or other honours. Priority is given to those active in their chosen field within the private and public sectors.
How to Nominate
Nominations for the 2019 UQ Alumnus of the Year Award are to be submitted to Alumni Friends of The University of Queensland Inc using this official Nomination Form.
Nominations must include the following:
1. A completed Nomination Form (see attached);
2. A current professional Bio or CV/Biography including all Civil and Military Honours and academic qualifications from all institutions;
3. A written statement (maximum 1,000 words) detailing why the Nominee deserves to be recognised as the 2019 UQ Alumnus of the Year; and
4. One written reference.
Nominations may only be submitted by a third party (internal or external). Self-nomination is not accepted.Nominations may also include supporting evidence: awards, media clippings, electronic media footage, etc.Nominations that do not fulfil the above criteria will not be considered for this Award.Nominations must be received by 5pm Friday, 3 May 2019. Late nominations will not be accepted.
Award
The 2019 University of Queensland’s Alumnus of the Year Award will be recognised at the Courting the Greats Award Ceremony in 2019.
The UQ Alumnus of the Year will be acknowledged in media publications.
The Selection Panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the decision.
