Most new copywriters (and a lot of the veterans) suffer from perfectionism...including me. When I sat down to write my first sales letter, I wanted it to be brilliant on the first try. I needed a masterpiece, and nothing less would be good enough. The pressure I put on myself to create the greatest sales message ever written completely out of thin air sucked the life out of me. I felt completely void of any creative idea, thought, or inspiration. It took me nearly two weeks just to write a headline and another two weeks to crank out a sales letter. That was a month of lost sales and profits that I let slip through my fingers because I didn’t know the secret. No one had taught me the #1 Copywriters’ Secret to getting started. Instead of sitting down and starting with a blank screen, start with a handful of winning sales letters in front of you. The secret is this: Instead of waiting for inspiration to hit, all you have to do is “swipe” ideas from somewhere else. When professional copywriters get stuck, they just look at effective ads that other people have written and adapt them. That’s what makes swiping legal. Step 2 – Find Niche Sales Letters The next step is to narrow down your search to sales letters that are a good match for your product. You can try searching within your own market, but depending on what you sell, it may be easier to find examples in parallel markets to your own niche or even in unrelated areas. The language is likely to be fresh and different from what your competitors use. This gives you two possible sets of sales pages to explore (sponsored listings, e.g. the ads copywriters have placed with Google that appear in the yellow bar at the top of the page and to the right of the page). Click through these with an open mind and see if any would work for your product or services. The “jewel” in the copywriting group was the next-to-last entry “7 Years in Copywriting.” Take a look at it and see how you could repurpose it if you sold a diet program. As you can see, this message has more than just a great headline you can swipe. There’s a pre-headline, a bonus offer, and (further down the page) a compelling list of benefits. This letter is an ideal swipe. You can cannibalize it in a variety of ways. Swipe Example 2

The Only Problem With The Google Swipe Strategy

The problem is that you don’t know how well the sales letters you are swiping work. Of course, after you repurpose them, you’ll want to test at least two versions to come up with a final version that converts and sells like crazy. Isn’t there a way to find more sales letters, and find ones that you know are selling? The answer is yes, and I reveal it below.

The best thing about it from a copywriting perspective is you can search it by category and the popularity of the pages. 2. Click on the “Marketplace” link hidden away above the navigation bar. Or, you can just go directly to the search page by entering http://www.clickbank.com/marketplace.htm in your browser.

4. Before you pick a category or enter a search term, make sure to select “Sort by Popularity” from the drop-down box on the right. 5. Pick a category. For the following example, I picked “Sports and Recreation.” Then hit search. What you’ll get are the top-selling sales pages in that category. Click through to the sales pages and see which, if any, are swipeable, e.g. ones you could repurpose.

While you may be tempted to limit your searches to the category your product or service falls into, I highly recommend you take a look at the top-selling sales pages from a number of the ClickBank categories. Here’s one, on the next page, I found by Dan Lok, which is a sales letter for swipeable sales letters.
