Forms are also available at the office, or you can download from the net at: http://www.qld.equestrian.org.au go to documents and forms, scroll down and click on Horse scroll down to EQ Health Declaration Form. Gate Passes: All horse exhibitors must purchase a gate pass, either before the Show or at the gate on arrival. Price for 2-day gate pass is $5 and is non-redeemable. This includes entry into the show, and all administration of biosecurity checks, registration etc. How to Enter: Early nominations may be made prior to event date. · Entry Cards paid for will be held at the Show Ring Office and be available from 5pm Sunday prior to the Show, and Show Monday and Tuesday from 8am. · The Dangerous Activity Acknowledgement must be signed on the back side of every class card. No cards - no entry to the ring. Conditions of Entry: Refer General Conditions & Show Rules. · Times, sequence of events and rings may be varied at the discretion of the Ring Stewards who may cancel any entry or event deemed necessary. · Camping sites must be booked on the correct form and paid for in advance. · A camping area with limited power, toilets and open stalls is available within 300 metres from the showgrounds. · Horse Stalls must be booked on the correct form and paid for in advance. Stalls are not provided for non-competitive horses and are only available for horses competing over the two days. · Parking will be controlled by the Stewards. Vehicles and trailers will not be permitted in the vicinity of the unloading area or ramp unless unloading. · Vehicles & trailers transporting horses to the Show will be permitted to enter the grounds to unload only then the vehicle &/or trailer must be removed from the grounds immediately. · All Exhibitors are requested to take part in the Grand Parade with their horses. Failure to do so may result in the exhibitors forfeiting any prize monies. · All exhibits in Horse Section must be bona fide property of Exhibitor 30 days prior to the show and he or she shall make affidavit that the exhibit is his or her property. · Competitors will be called three (3) times for events, then disqualified if not at starting point. · Dress of Competitors: The following will constitute compulsory dress: EA approved helmet with harness, white shirt, white or cream jodhpurs, black or brown long boots and coat. Winter Competition Season is denoted as 1st May through to 1st October and wearing of a coat is compulsory between these dates. It will be noted that under extreme weather conditions, the Judge of the event, can nominate as to whether a coat is worn, shirt with a tie is compulsory, together with white jodhpurs. · Stallions cannot compete in Hack classes. · Pony is under 14 hands. Galloway must be 14 hands and over, but not exceeding 15 hands. · A maiden hack is a hack that has not won a hack class competition at an affiliated show. After winning a maiden hack class this horse will be recognized as a Novice. · Rider in all Pony Hack Classes must be under 17 years. · Breed Registration Certificates must be available for inspection by Stewards. · Breed, name of horse, sex and correct class must be clearly printed on the Entry Form together with name and age (where required) and postal address of exhibitor. · Local is to mean within the defined area of Mareeba, Atherton, Herberton, Ravenshoe and Malanda. Horse to have been in the defined local area for not less than twelve (12) weeks prior to the Show date. District to mean within the area of Mackay north & west to Mt. Isa. · All horse entries must be made on Society's nomination form and duly signed by the owner. Each horse must be nominated in one owner's name only throughout the programme. · All events will be judged under EA Rules. All jumping horses in graded events must be registered. Grading Cards must be presented to judge prior to each event. It is the competitor's responsibility to fill in the card and have the judge sign it, with wins only recorded. All horses shall be liable to measurements at the discretion of judge or Ring Steward. · Prize money won by a horse will be paid to one person only. Rider's share of prize money is a matter of settlement between owner and rider. Rider's name to be stated on entry form. All entries must be paid for at time of nomination. · Prize Money: Rider must present horse grading card, signed by the Judge, in order to collect prize money. Failing to produce Grading Cards entitles the Society to withhold prize money until Grading card is produced. · Scratching’s: No refund will be made on pre-paid cards. · Competitor's age must be shown on Entry Form, where required. Competitors competing in events with age group will be

required to provide proof of age. All riders competing in jumping events shall be tried over such jumps as judge directs. · Doping: refer to General Conditions · Competitors may take part in competitions and championships for Junior from the beginning of the calendar year they reach the age of 12 until the end of the calendar year they reach the age of 18. · Competitors may take part in competitions and championships for Young Riders from the beginning of the calendar year they reach the age of 16 until they reach the age of 21. · From the beginning of the year in which they reach the age of 16, competitors may, if the Organisers so stipulate, compete in both Junior and Senior fixtures provided the same horse does not compete in both Junior and Senior Classes at the same fixture. Horses competing in Junior Classes at this show may not compete in Graded Events · Where States do not have separate Pony Jumping Events; rider must be under 18. · Where States do not separate Pony Jumping Events, then the pony must compete in the normal events and wins will count for grading. A pony, which is issued a National Grading Card, may then not jump in Pony Jumping Events. · All Entire Horses permitted to use as an alternative to a bit and bar, a properly fitted stallion chain to be made of quarter inch welded links to be 80cm long and attached to a strongly constructed halter. · Should three or more entries of any Breed not specified be entered by different owners, a special class will be provided. · Definitions: Colt - under 3 years; Stallion - 3 years & over; Filly - under 3 years; Mare - 3 years & over. Miniatures accepted. · Ring Stewards reserve the right to order the removal of any horse, which they consider, is not under complete control of the handler or which is disrupting another horse.

SHOWJUMPING SECTION 1: HORSES CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

· Any combination of horse & rider may enter only one class in ungraded Table AM5 Junior Show Jumping Contests. · Junior athletes may take part in competitions for Juniors until the end of the calendar year they reach the age of 18. · Juniors can compete in Championships, Royal Shows and competitions which count for grading from the beginning of the calendar

year in which they turn the age of 12 years. · Subject to the exclusions mentioned in paragraphs below, Junior athletes may participate in Grand Prix competitions at events

provided they have reached their 16th birthday. Special Junior competitions may be arranged. · Athletes may take part in certain competitions for Seniors from the year in which they reach their 16th birthday with the express

permission of EA. · Before the year in which they reach their 18th birthday (Young Riders, Junior Regulations) athletes may not take part in, a World

· Rules & entry fees for all exhibitors shall be as per the schedule. · No late entries will be accepted. · Entry fees are not refundable. · All Horses must be Hendra vaccinated to camp on the Atherton Showgrounds · No article is to be entered in more than one (1) class. · Sale of Exhibits: No exhibit will be offered for sale during show · Exhibits may not be taken until after 4pm on the last day of Show, and then only under Steward’s supervision. · Exhibitors please advise the Show Office or the Stewards of any entries entered but not delivered for judging. · If the merit of the exhibits in any class or Championship is not, in the opinion of the Judge, sufficient to entitle them to a prize, the

Judge may withhold prizes. · A competition is defined as there being more than one competitor or entrant, with the preference being a minimum of three (3)

competitors. · In the event of there being no competition in a class, any or all prizes may be withheld. · In the event of a draw for placing of exhibits by the judge, preference is that clear single place holders be chosen by whatever

means. If the placing must be shared, the total prize money for the class must remain the same and the number of placeholders is to remain the same. The prize money to be shared is added together and then split evenly between the winners. The next placing is then omitted. For example, if there is a draw between two exhibits for 1st place, 2nd place is omitted and the prize money from 1st and 2nd is added together and divided evenly between the two winners. 3rd place is then awarded as usual.

· Locally made or grown, to be construed as meaning exhibits from districts included in the Tableland Regional, Mareeba, Cairns Regional and Cassowary Coast Shires, unless otherwise stated.

· No Exhibitor will be allowed to display, at the current Show, ribbons, place-cards or awards won at any other show. · For use on waybills, the PIC No for the Atherton Showgrounds is QIAE0505. · All entries in livestock must be a bona fide property of the Exhibitor 30 days prior to the show, unless otherwise stated, and he or

she makes affidavit that the property is his or her property on request. · All livestock must be guaranteed “free from disease or ticks”. · Necessary attendants upon stock will be furnished with Special Passes upon applying to the Secretary’s Office. · No Exhibitor shall be permitted to remain in the exhibition area or with the Stewards or Judges during the time of judging. · No unauthorised Exhibitor or Visitor will be admitted to the Ring during any event. · The Society reserves the right to substitute prizes or trophies donated after printing of the Schedule in lieu of prize money. · All prize money will be paid on the days of the Show at the Secretary’s Office or the Show Ring Office. Photo ID or letter of

authority must be presented to collect prize money. All prize monies over the amount of $10.00 not collected prior to the end of September will be deposited to the nominated bank account by electronic transfer. Any smaller amounts, or prize money where no bank account has been nominated, will be deemed a donation to the Society.

· Stewards are empowered to act as they think fit in all cases of cruelty to exhibits. · Any person, whether an Exhibitor or otherwise, who makes use of foul or abusive language on the grounds or in the hall, will incur

a penalty of expulsion, or be dealt with as the Committee may determine. · The foregoing rules and regulation, and the notes as set forth in the Schedule are to be the conditions of the competition. Any

matter arising not specially provided for in the foregoing shall be determined by the Committee, whose decision is final. · In the event of an accident requiring the service of an Ambulance this Society or any person associated with the Society will not be

responsible for any charges. · Doping: It is forbidden to use or administer or cause to be used or administer on or to any animal, any tranquilliser, stimulant,

depressant or drug of any kind, in any manner whatsoever, either before the commencement of or during any Show activity or competition. Any person owning, riding or entering an animal in any such activity or competition shall, at the discretion of the Stewards, be liable for disqualification for a period of up to five (5) years. The certificates of a qualified veterinary surgeon to such effect shall be a prima facie evidence that any such tranquilliser, stimulant, depressant or drug has been used or administered. If during any Show activity, it is necessary to treat an animal with a drug that is calming, anti-tetanic, fortifying or stimulating, a veterinary surgeon appointed by the Stewards must be notified immediately and they must verify the expedience of necessity of the treatment to be given.

· Perpetual Trophies will be presented at the event for photographs, it is NOT under any circumstances to be removed from the Atherton Showgrounds. Perpetual Trophies remain the property of Atherton Tableland Agricultural Society at all times. Atherton Show Society will have the trophy engraved and stored at the Show Office. A keeper trophy will be presented. If you require any further photos after the event please contact the Atherton Show Office.

how to enter the show

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL SECTIONS OF THE ATHERTON SHOW 1. Reading the Schedule 2. Completing your entry form 3. Closing Dates 4. Labelling your Exhibit 5. Collecting your exhibits and prize money

1. Reading the Schedule a. The schedule is broken down into three levels; Sections, Subsections and Classes. For example, Photography is a Section, Colour Prints is

a Subsection, and Landscape is a Class. Only Sections and Classes have numbers that you will use on your Entry Form. b. Carefully read all the closing dates and conditions of entry at the beginning of your section. c. Find the class that best suits or describes your exhibit. d. Contact the Show Office if you need any help with classifying your exhibit. If we can’t help, we will get in touch with one of the Stewards.

2. Completing your entry form a. Get a copy of the relevant Entry Form. The General Entry Form is available over the page, or they are available from our:

~ Website at www.athertonshow.com.au -> Competitions -> Sections & Forms ~ Show Office at Merriland Hall, Atherton in person or by info@athertonshow.com.au

b. Most sections will just use a General Entry form, but the following sections have their own specific forms: ~ Horses ~ Beef & Dairy Cattle ~ Woodchops ~ Agriculture ~ Floriculture

c. You need to use a separate entry form for each person exhibiting, but you can use the same General Entry form for more than one section. d. In the Schedule, find the Section No at the start of each section and write just the number in the column, (eg. Photography is 19). e. Find the Class No in the Schedule and write just the number in the column, (eg. Landscape is 5). f. Briefly describe your exhibit. In some sections, the class name will be the enough description (eg. in Poultry: Australian Game Hen), but in

other section it may help Show staff to recognise your exhibit. For example, in Photography your description might be ‘Rolling Hay Fields’. g. Find the entry fee and write it as dollars and cents (0.50) in the column. The entry fees can often be found under the Subsection heading,

but if there is no entry fee noted there, use the fee shown at the beginning of the Section.

3. Closing Dates a. There are two important Closing Dates for each Section.

~ Forms & Fees due: This is the last date your entry form and entry fee can be received by the Show Office, either in person, by post, or by email with an electronic payment. ~ Deliver Exhibits: This is the latest time and day that your exhibit can be received by the Show Office or Stewards. Note: In some sections forms, fees and exhibits are all due at the same time.

b. You don’t need to wait until the last day. The last day is often the busiest and you will wait longer to be served. c. We take entries from the 1st June. If you are going away, you can arrange for an earlier drop off.

4. Labelling your Exhibit a. When you bring your Entry Form and/or exhibit into the Show Office, Class Cards will be issued for all the pavilion exhibits. b. Class Cards are a double ticket which is torn into two identically marked pieces. Each piece shows the Section and Class Number, and a

unique Exhibit No. c. This Exhibit No is used for identification and tracking of each exhibit and to ensure that items are returned to the correct owner. The Judges

also use this number to nominate place-winners. d. One side of the Class Card will be attached to your exhibit in clear view for the Judge. The other side stays with you, the entrant, and is

used for collecting the item after the Show. e. Make sure your name is on your items, but not somewhere it can be seen by the judge. If your name can be seen, the Stewards will have to

cover it, and it may detract from the presentation of your exhibit.

5. Collecting your exhibits and prize money a. All exhibits must stay on display until 4pm Show Tuesday afternoon. Prize money may be picked up from the show office after 4pm on the

Monday. Stewards will only be available to return your exhibit from 4pm to 6pm on the Tuesday after show. This is the busiest times for people collecting their items and prizes.

b. If you can wait, the Show Office is open 9am-5pm for the 3 days (Wed-Fri) following the Show and there is often someone available by arrangement in the following week.

c. You must have the stub of your Class Cards to be able to collect your items, and the Stewards or Show staff will check the exhibits back out to you.

d. No exhibitors are allowed to take exhibits out of the display area. Identification must be shown when collecting prizes and prize money. A Medicare card can be used as identification for children.

e. If you want someone else to collect your prizes, you will need to send them with a letter of authority from you and they will need to show their ID when they collect for you.

f. If you want your prizemoney paid into your bank account, please tick the box on the entry form and fill out your details. All payments not already collected will be paid into your account before the end of July.

CAMPING TERMS & CONDITIONS

Camping Sites · A limited number of camping sites are available, with preference given to travelling exhibitors. · Applications must be made on the correct form and paid in advance. · Please indicate your vehicle size on the form. (Space is limited so please ensure your vehicle /camping equipment is not excessive. Stewards reserve the right to refuse camping to any vehicle/camping equipment they deem excessive) · Sites will be allocated as exhibitors arrive on the day, and the Atherton Show Society will have the final decision on site allocation. · The fee covers two nights. Extra nights available. Terms of Application · No vehicles are allowed movement on the showgrounds during Show Days; between 10am and 10pm on Monday, and 9am and 4pm on Tuesday. RJ ‘TOM’ PINK MEMORIAL FOR JUNIOR SHOW PARTICIPATION

RJ ‘Tom’ Pink devoted almost 40 years of his life to the Atherton Show in the role of Show Secretary.

He was a firm believer in the benefits the Agricultural Show gave to the whole community,

and he especially loved to encourage young people to become involved.

· Points awarded for participation. · 1 pt for each exhibit Entered; 3pts for each section

entered · Open to all exhibitors in Junior Classes

throughout all sections of the Show. · Exhibitors who have won in the past 2 years

will not be eligible. · In the event of a tie, prize will be shared. · The final decision will be at the discretion of
