BRIT FEST and BRITISH AUTO CLASSIC 29th Oct 2017

To British car clubs.

The organizers of Brit Fest have asked me to email with their sincere thanks for the support clubs gave for the inaugural Brit Fest, incorporating the British Auto Classic.

As any attendee would have seen the array of cars was impressive, with the thousands through the gate appreciating the cars and all the many other attractions the event had. For those who didn’t come, you missed a great day… The day’s big raffle prize winner was a member of the Daimler & Lanchester Owners Club.

Having been such a good day and with a great deal of positive feedback, the organizers are keen to expand the event for next year. There are several areas which have been identified that will be improved upon for next year, and we thank those car club members who have provided feedback.

We look forward to an even better event at Claremont in early October 2018. Stay tuned for details…

Regards, Paul Blank

Celebration of the Motorcar Sunday 3rd December 2017 For those with deep pockets or those who like to dream, the Celebration of the Motorcar at Cottesloe Civic Centre, was packed with dream machines. However a display from the Whiteman Park Museum caught my eye. A 1934 Desoto Airflow built by Chrysler. Sales in 1934 were slow due to the advanced design, maybe 10 years ahead of it’s time ? When you see your mother-in –law backing off a cliff in your new car. Last Father’s Day my son gave me something I always wanted: the keys to my car. My wife had her driver’s test the other day. She got 8 out of 10. The other 2 guys jumped clear. I always adjust the seat and mirrors when I drive my Husband’s car so he doesn’t forget he is married. As a Senior Citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife’s voice urgently warning him, “Herman, I just heard on the news that there’s a car going the wrong way on 280. Please be careful!” “Hell,” said Herman, “it’s not just one car. It’s hundreds of them!”
