TERRIGAL VS OURIMBAH AT THE HAVEN

This weekend sees the Trojans take on competition leaders Ourimbah at The Haven Oval in what will probably be the preview for this year's Grand Final. Ourimbah have been strong in all grades throughout the year, but they are now playing the Trojans at the Haven, where we are at our best! The Trojans have got stronger and stronger throughout this season as the team comes together, after players have returned from injury and representative duty. Both First Grade sides will be running out their top teams in what will be an outstanding game of rugby.

The Trojans need to win this match to maintain a foothold on second place which gives them a Major Semi Final placing. In our last outing, the Trojans were held up across the line after full time, which would have won them the match. Expect the same close 80 minutes this weekend as each side gives everything to retain ascendancy in their march for the 2018 Rugby Title. We really need our Trojan supporters with us this weekend. As mentioned, Ourimbah have set the standards in all grades this year so Terrigal will know the importance of winning home ground victories in Seconds and Thirds this weekend to consolidate their Semi Final positions. Both Seconds and Thirds are well improved as the year has gone on, so expect the day to start well with some top rugby from our Seconds and Thirds. This very well could be the Grand Final preview in all grades. Expect a lot, get ready for great rugby and let's get to the Haven to have a beer and cheer our Trojan teams home in all grades. See you at the Rugby this weekend.

Trojans First Grade ready for victory

BRAIN CANCER RESEARCH FUNDRAISER Great Australian neurosurgeon, Charlie Teo, needs our support. Trojans, let's get behind this and support our community!

During the First Grade game this weekend, the Charlie Teo Foundation will be selling beanies to support brain cancer research. All proceeds from the beanies will go directly to brain cancer research which helps our kids on the coast. Look out for Julie Bromwich and her team who will have the beanies available on the sideline and near the beer tent. Warm up for winter by supporting this valuable research for families on the coast. Only $20 per cap for this very important charity!

LAST WEEKEND AGAINST HORNSBY The Trojans took on Hornsby last weekend at Mark Taylor Oval which started out as a very even tussle. The Trojans held a narrow lead 10-5 at half time. However, the second half saw the Trojans gain ascendancy posting 24 points to Hornsby’s converted try. The final score of 34-12 clearly showed the difference in the sides with Terrigal scoring 6 tries to 2. Best players for Trojans were Flanker Ryan Metcalfe, Winger Dan Sargeant and Hooker Jim Storey. This win sees the Trojans retain second spot on the ladder in what is developing into a very close battle for the Finals with six teams still battling for four places. Second Grade had a convincing win over Hornsby 41-5, Third Grade had a bye, Colts had another tough encounter with Warnervale narrowly being

defeated 37-28. The Women’s 7s saw a very even tussle against Hornsby, with each side claiming a narrow win, a 12-10 loss to Hornsby in game 1 and Terrigal claiming a 10-5 victory in the second game.

BOAT RACE MC Taity started the boat race which unlike the rugby results didn’t end well for the Trojans. The Trojans were experimenting with new recruits, however, the Hornsby Lions were exceptional. The Boat Race team of Ethan, Cam Strachan, Ron Mison and Admiral Date were outclassed by the very professional Hornsby Lions Boat Race Team on the day. However, we are ready to relaunch and will put our best team forward this week against Ourimbah.

Youth Girls 7s play at Warnervale on Friday 3 August Terrigal U15s 6:30 pm vs Ourimbah 7:30 pm vs Woy Woy This week our Women’s 7s play Ourimbah at The Haven. Game 1: 10:40 am Game 2: 12:10 pm Good luck to U/17s Girls, Paris Ingegneri and Tylah Vallance who will play for NSW Country U17’s Girls 15-a-side team against Sydney this weekend. Last week the Senior Women’s 7s team travelled to Hornsby with First and Second Grade Men’s for the Girls first ever matches at The Rock. With only 7 starting players and no finishers against the Nalas full bench, our Women’s team showed much pride and strength of character, in both of their matches. Game 1: Hornsby 12 – Terrigal 10 Game 2: Terrigal 10 – Hornsby 5
