Chelsea, Will, Matthew and Kobe all improved their reading by at least two levels. Sebastian has increased the use of details in drawing. Another group of clever K/1S students achieved their learning goals with big, proud smiles last week. Sky can read level 22 texts, Summah can read level 12 and Rhianna level 30. Logan is remembering to ask peoples names when he meets them and using his friendly manners. Sabrina can count backwards from 50 and Sharleah can read level 9 texts. Noah, Jordan, Caiden and Rania from 3/4M were our final goal achievers for 2019. Congratulations to these clever Stage 2 students. Noah can read level 28. Jordan counts by 10’s forwards and backwards off the decade. Caiden can count level 27 and Rania can count forwards and backwards from any number. Congratulations Jolie Congratulations to BPS student Jolie who has won the 2019 annual South Coast Police District Integrity Awards. Initiated by the Shoalhaven Crime Management Unit in 2017, the awards are designed to acknowledge the positive behaviour of young people in their school community. Schools in the local area are asked to nominate one student and provide a brief description of why they should be recognised. Normally, the local police district only announces one award winner, but District Commander Superintendent Greg Moore said this year Ned and Jolie could not be separated. Nominees for the award need to have displayed conduct such as - showing honestly; showing pride within their school community; showing pride in their school uniforms; acting in the school's statement of values; Dear Parents/Carers, Presentation Day It was an absolute pleasure to host so many community visitors and BPS families at our Primary and Infants Presentation Day last week. Thank you so much for attending. It was exciting to see such a large audience there to celebrate the success of our students. Congratulations to all of our award winners. I cant list everyone, but special mention to our new school leaders for 2020: Keeley Lewis, Amber Rowe, James Speer and Scarlett Brooks. Also, a very big congratulations to Natasha Evans who was awarded our Dux of the School and has been offered a place in the 7E class next year at Bomaderry High School in 2020. Thank you also for all of your support throughout 2019, it has been a year of great achievement and has included some deep analysis of our schools data, our processes and levels of achievement. This year our school analysis was done formally through the Department of Education External Validation process. A panel of external evaluators determined that we are excelling in many areas when compared to schools across NSW. Just two areas that deserve mention are: the high level data analysis and programming that our teachers carry out as part of their teaching; the level of connectedness our students feel at school. They are known, valued and cared for. Achieving Our Goals Every BPS student has individual learning goals and they strive to achieve these every day. Congratulations Kyran, Jaxn, Jason, Lucas, Bradley and Jahkobi from K/1S who all achieved another learning goal last week. This group of boys were so proud to wear their blue goal ribbons back to class – well done boys. Kyran can count to 50. Jaxn is reading level 12 texts, Jason level 20, Lucas level 15 and Bradley level 18. Jahkobi recognizes and names all basic shapes and colours. Jackson, Mia, Chelsea, Will, Kobe, Sebastian and Matthew from 3-6S also achieved a Term 4 goal. These students were pleased to know there was one more bulletin to publish in 2019 so that their families could celebrate their achievements! Jackson, Mia, Term 4 - Week 10 16th December 2019

to Mrs Doheney and teachers who helped their students prepare. End of 2019 Message During 2019 there have been many new student enrolments, new staff joining our team, existing staff returning from leave and improvements to the resources and infrastructure. As you can see just by the current scaffolding — there has certainly never been a dull moment! Thank you to our school community: You should also be very proud of your commitment to our school in 2019. Obviously I can not thank every individual or company or agency who play a part on our school team. But, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the invaluable members of our hardworking P&C. 2019 has been another successful one for our parent group who meet each month, take part in school decision making processes, raise funds for the school and donate hours of work in their busy lives to support our special events and programs. Thank you to this wonderful team of people. We work hard at BPS to enable each and every one of our students to learn and achieve positive outcomes. We hope our school can be a place where our community works together for this purpose. I know you have all heard me quote (many times!) that “it takes a village to raise a child”. I firmly believe this and therefore must thank all families, agencies, clubs and groups who have worked with staff for our students during 2019. Thank you to our dedicated staff: I need to make mention of our professional, talented, caring and amazing staff members. After all, an organisation can only excel with the support and commitment of its staff. Teaching is a dynamic and rewarding profession. Good teachers provide students with rich, interesting and well-structured learning experiences. They get to know students and their families. They provide learning as well as life experiences. I want to express how very proud and thankful I am for all of my staff, both teaching and non-teaching. They work together to make a difference for our kids each and every day. Thank you for all of your care, dedication and skill. Congratulations to all of our students: I am very proud of each and every one these people in blue. The efforts we see them put into their learning and the way they celebrate achieving their goals is motivation for our staff. We do not only see efforts in classroom learning. We witness improvements in student’s confidence, their ability to make friends, to show resilience when things are tough, to explore and play, to care for others and sometimes, to simply have fun!

showing leadership; taking responsibility; and considering others feelings. Jolie is a proud young Aboriginal lady who has shown to be a great leader and respected role model among her peers and adults within her school community. Jolie sets educational goals and works hard at school and home to achieve them. She has taken a leadership role in the school's "doing things together days", ensures the school newsletter is distributed to each class each week, participated in the year 5 leadership day and the year 6 fundraiser. Jolie has shown maturity and courage beyond her years. In recent months she has been required to provide emergency care to a family member who was suffering a medical condition on three occasions. "She provided care and also rang emergency services, providing paramedics with explicit details which in turned saved the family member's life." Proud of the honour, Jolie said it was important to her to be able to "help people". Year 6 Callala Public student, 12-year-old Ned was the other recipient of the prestigious award. Mega Christmas Raffle – Prize Winners Our annual Christmas raffle was drawn today. Thank you to everyone who supported the fundraiser. Congratulations to our four lucky winners: 1st Prize – Repco child’s bike and child’s helmet – Maurice Shoemark 2nd Prize – Wheelbarrow of goodies – Emma Flaherty 3rd Prize – Google Home Mini – Tracey (we have a phone number) 4th Prize – Ticket for two people for minigolf @ Husky Sports – Sienna (1/2F) PBL ‘Friday Fun’ A wonderful afternoon of play and fun was spent on the playground on Friday. This extended play time was our whole school acknowledgment for collecting ‘bommos’ and filling the BPS ‘rocket’. Thank you to all of the staff for providing some extra games and competitions to celebrate the ongoing demonstration of our PBL values on the playground. Well done BPS. ‘Showcase’ of Talent Today Congratulations to all of our confident, talented students who entertained us today at our annual ‘Showcase’ event. Mrs Doheney has been facilitating the rehearsals and organisation throughout the term and so many students have regularly practiced and prepared. Great job everyone, and a special thank you
